GULLET Use the Gullet gauge to find the correct PLATES sized gullet plate for your horse. LLET PLATE HOW to measure your horse with the GFS Genesis gullet gauge STEP 1 STEP 2 Remove the saddle To get an accurate and place the gauge measurement place in the correct position. your saddle on your horse in the usual position. Make a note of where the front of the saddle contacts the horse. This should be approximately three fingers width back from the shoulder blade. STEP 3 Move the gauge until both sides are contacting the horse and a measurement can be taken. Note: If you have fitted the correct size gullet and your saddle is still not fitting correctly, the panel may require repacking and it is recommended you consult a qualified saddle fitter. Remove the gauge from the horse without loosing the reading. Once you have moved the gauge to the correct setting a reading can be taken. STEP 5 STEP 4 STEP 6 Your horse’s size is clearly indicated on the measuring Gauge. These steps can be repeated every few months to monitor your horses shape and saddle fit. Your horse will change shape for many different reasons, just like us. It is often due to age and maturity, the type of work your horse is doing and it’s levels of fitness. GFS Guide to changing your ‘Multi-Fit’ Gullet Plate 1 7 Unscrew the two screws located left and right on the underside of the saddle. Please keep screws and washers safe. Next secure the opposite end of the plate AGAIN do NOT tighten 100%. Once gullet is in place and the gullet arch is sitting neatly in the groove of the Genesis saddle tree, then secure the gullet 100% by tightening screws at both ends. 2 8 Pull away the Velcro closure in the head of the saddle. Re-fit the panel into the point pockets on both sides. 3 9 Pull the panel down from the point pockets freeing the front of the panel enabling you to see the gullet plate fitted into your Genesis saddle. ENSURE that the panel is forced 100% into point pockets on the panel and re-align the panel securing in place with Velcro that holds the front of the panel to the head of the tree. 4 10 Remove the two screws at each end of the gullet plate. Re-fit the panel front screws fitting one side at a time and CAREFULLY ensuring that the panel screw goes into the socket on the tree. 5 11 Gullet plate is now removed. Once one side is secure, pull the other side into place and align and fix in position using the Velcro on the tree and panel front. 6 12 Put your ‘changed‘ gullet in place and ONLY partially screw in place... do NOT tighten. Partially secure one end only. Re-fit the final front panelscrew again ensuring that the screw goes into the socket on the tree.
