HOW to measure your horse with the GFS Genesis gullet gauge
STEP 1
STEP 2
Remove the saddle
To get an accurate
and place the gauge
measurement place
in the correct position.
your saddle on your
horse in the usual
position.
Make a note of where
the front of the saddle
contacts the horse.
This should be
approximately three
fingers width back from
the shoulder blade.
STEP 3
Move the gauge until
both sides are
contacting the horse
and a measurement
can be taken.
Note: If you have fitted the correct size gullet and your saddle
is still not fitting correctly, the panel may require repacking and
it is recommended you consult a qualified saddle fitter.
Remove the gauge
from the horse
without loosing
the reading.
Once you have
moved the gauge
to the correct
setting a reading
can be taken.
STEP 5
STEP 4
STEP 6
Your horse’s size is
clearly indicated on
the measuring Gauge.
These steps can be
repeated every few
months to monitor
your horses shape
and saddle fit.
Your horse will change shape for many different reasons,
just like us. It is often due to age and maturity, the type of
work your horse is doing and it’s levels of fitness.

Unscrew the two screws
located left and right on
the underside of the
saddle.
Please keep screws and
washers safe.
Next secure the opposite end of
the plate AGAIN do NOT tighten
100%. Once gullet is in place and
the gullet arch is sitting neatly in
the groove of the Genesis saddle
tree, then secure the gullet 100%
by tightening screws at both ends.

8
Pull away the Velcro
closure in the head of
the saddle.
Re-fit the panel into the
point pockets on both sides.
3
9
Pull the panel down from
the point pockets freeing
the front of the panel
enabling you to see the
gullet plate fitted into
your Genesis saddle.
ENSURE that the panel is forced
100% into point pockets on the
panel and re-align the panel
securing in place with Velcro
that holds the front of the panel
to the head of the tree.
4
10
Remove the two screws
at each end of the gullet
plate.
Re-fit the panel front screws
fitting one side at a time and
CAREFULLY ensuring that
the panel screw goes into
the socket on the tree.
5
11
Gullet plate is now
removed.
Once one side is secure, pull
the other side into place and
align and fix in position using
the Velcro on the tree and panel
front.
6
12
Put your ‘changed‘ gullet
in place and ONLY
partially screw in place...
do NOT tighten. Partially
secure one end only.
Re-fit the final front panelscrew
again ensuring that the screw
goes into the socket on the tree.
