FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FOR HEALTHY LIVING FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY A BRAND NEW YEAR 2011 Winter/Spring Program Guide Winter: Jan. 3-Feb. 19 Spring I: Feb. 28-April 16 Spring II: April 25-June 11 BOOTHBAY REGION YMCA www.boothbayregionymca.org GREETINGS Inside this issue: Dear Y friends, Our Y is unveiling a new brand strategy which will help you understand the impact the Y is making in our community and so more people can take advantage of our unique capacity to foster lasting, personal and social change. Our Y is a central means to meeting the needs of the Boothbay Region. We’ve always known that positive change only comes about when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. That’s why we are here. We have three areas of focus: Youth Development, because young people need caring adults to provide support, guidance and encouragement as they grow. Healthy Living, because wellness in spirit, mind and body strengthens our very being, and enhances our interactions with others. Social Responsibility, because we truly are in this together, and together we can harness our individual strengths and bring about positive change around us. So while we’ve changed our appearance to better reflect the work we do and the positive impact we make, we’re still supporting our community in the same ways we always have. Thank you for being a valued member of the Y! 1 Greetings Membership Youth Development 1 2-3 4-13 Healthy Living 14-18 Social Responsibility 19-22 Membership at the Y Short Term Membership Depending on your needs, our Y offers a 3 month and 6 month option for your convenience. Y Child Enrichment Center: The Boothbay Region YMCA is a community leader in providing high-quality child care enrichment for infants thru prekindergarteners. Our ultimate goal in our Child Enrichment Center is to ensure each child has a positive and happy school experience which will lead to a love of school and learning. Our hope is that the experiences we offer will promote unique and positive outcomes for the children and families we serve. Our teachers create an environment that nurtures, encourages respect, and promotes self-esteem and trust. We offer opportunities for children to interact in an inclusive, child-directed environment. Our state licensed programs focus on learning through the developmental areas of cognitive, social-emotional, language and physical development, utilizing “play” as the focal point for all learning. We monitor and assist children in the acquisition of new skills, believing that children learn at their own pace, developing skills as they build upon gained knowledge. In addition to weekly swim lessons and field trips for children 16 months of age and older, we also provide a USDA regulated breakfast, lunch and snack daily. During the 10 weeks of summer vacation, our Preschool and Pre Kindergarten programs become more camp like… Preschool becomes Critter Camp and Pre Kindergarten becomes Scamper Camp. Parents can enroll on a weekly basis for these two programs for the summer months only. For a tour of the Center and for registration, contact Maddie Rideout, Childcare Enrichment Site Coordinator and Head Pre K teacher at 633-2855. 4 We offer the following Child Enrichment Programs: Infants: 6 weeks to 16 months Toddler I: 16 months to 24 months Toddler II: 24 months to 3 years Preschool: 3 years to 4 years Pre Kindergarten: 4 years to 5 years Critter Camp: 3 years to 4 years (summer only) Scamper Camp: 4 years to 5 years (summer only) Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm throughout the entire year except on days the entire Y facility is closed. “Y Child Enrichment is a safe, nurturing environment for children to learn, grow and develop social skills.” YOUTH DEVELOPMENT Nurturing the potential of every child and teen. Postage PAID Permit No. 5 04538 GREETINGS Inside this issue: Dear Y friends, Our Y is unveiling a new brand strategy which will help you understand the impact the Y is making in our community and so more people can take advantage of our unique capacity to foster lasting, personal and social change.
