Communication
• Class Newsletters are posted online every Thursday at familychristianschol.org. Newsletters contain classroom updates, announcements, upcoming test dates, and homework information. • A Weekly Folder will be sent home each Thursday with graded work from the previous week, as well as the following week’s homework assignments. Text @fcs4th to 81010 • Receive Text Reminders from Miss Hancock: (get the Remind App) to receive text updates o Send a text to 81010 with the message @fcs4th or download the o I will be able to send you important reminders via text message. Remind App Weekly Folder
• Weekly Folders go home on Thursdays and contain graded work, the following week’s homework, test study guides, and a hardcopy of the classroom newsletter, • Parents should sign the signature page in each folder to let Miss Hancock know you received the graded work and other information. • Students will receive one bulldog buck for returning an empty, signed weekly folder on Friday. • Weekly Folders stay with Miss Hancock throughout the week. Students should transfer their homework assignments out of the weekly folder and into their MOOSE binders. MOOSE Binders
MOOSE = Management Of Organizational Skills Everyday A MOOSE Binder is a 3 inch binder that 4th graders use to stay organized. The purpose of the binder is to help students develop good organization technique. Label 8 subject divider pockets in the following order: • 1. Bible • 2. Math • 3. Vocabulary • 4. Language • 5. Reading • 6. Science • 7. Social Studies • 8. Homework (this can be a hole-­‐punched folder clipped into the MOOS
If you would like to place a 3-­‐hole-­‐punched pencil pouch in the front of the MOOSE Binder, this is a great way to keep track of pencils! *Please do not clean out papers from MOOSE binders unless instructed to. 2 Homework
• Homework assignments can be due on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. No homework will be due on Fridays! • Homework due dates will be printed in the weekly classroom newsletter the week before. • Helpful Homework Hints: o Spelling homework and spelling tests are almost always due on Tuesdays. o “Weekly Math” homework pages are almost always due on Thursdays. Dismissal Changes
• If there is a change in who will be picking up your child from school, please send me a a note, email or text. I am not authorized to send your child home with other students without written or verbal permission from you. Birthday Celebrations

classroom!
• Parents are welcome to send or bring in a peanut-­‐free treat to celebrate a birthday in class. Please make sure there is enough for everyone in the class. Please e-­‐mail Miss Hancock to arrange the details. • Please do not pass out birthday party invitations at school unless you are inviting in the class. everyone Lunch and Snacks
• Please pack a large snack or lunch for your student every day! • Unfortunately, students do not have access to microwaves or refrigerators during the school day. • Snack & break are held from 11:00 – 11:40 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. • Break is from 11:30-­‐12 on Wednesdays and after Chapel on Fridays. • Students are not allowed to bring candy or soda to school for their lunch/snack. • Students can purchase chips and pretzels from Snack Cart for $1. Dress Code
• Follow the official FCS Dress Code exactly as listed in the FCS Handbook. • Occasionally, your child will be given a Casuad Day pass for different rewards. In order to redeem a Casual Day pass, check the list of FCS approved dates. Make sure your child brings his/her pass to school on the day they wish to use it. 3 Lost and Found
• On a regular basis, students’ items are left outside, in the classroom, or on the playground. Any found items are placed in Miss Imogene’s Office in the Lost and Found bin. Please make sure you label all of your child’s belongings-­‐ (especially outerwear and lunchboxes) before school starts! Attendance
• Attendance is taken each morning when the National Anthem starts. If your child is not in our classroom, they will be counted tardy or absent. Class starts at 8:00AM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and 10am on Wednesdays and Fridays. • Children can be dropped off no earlier than 7:45am on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Students who arrive between 8am and 9:45am on Wednesdays and Fridays should report to Morning Care. • Friday chapel attendance will be a part of the students’ overall Bible grade. Students are allowed one excused absence from Chapel each quarter. Book Adventure
• Book Adventure is our school’s online reading program. Each student needs to read 4 books and take quizzes on each book at www.bookadventure.com each quarter. • Each student will be given a login and password for Book Adventure at the beginning of the year. • Book Adventure now allows only 1 quiz to be taken per book. • Before a student begins reading a book, please check on www.bookadventure.com to make sure that it is a BA-­‐approved book! 4th Grade Read-Aloud Books
We have some fantastic novels to look forward to reading together this year! Please purchase a copy of each of these books for your child to read along to this year. I recommend looking on www.amazon.com to order the books for a cheap price! Used or Refurbished books are perfectly acceptable. Once a week the students will have a chance to visit the FCS library with the 4th grade Library Mom! During this time, students can check out books to read for Book Adventure. Students may check out up to 2 books at a time and can keep them for 2 weeks at a time. The 4th grade library mom is :________________________________

Shurley English with Mrs. Tosspon
• Mrs. Tosspon will teach the 4th graders Shurley English and grammar. • 4th graders will go to Mrs. Tosspon’s classroom from 10am-­‐11am on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for Shurely English. • Mrs. Tosspon will communicate with parents via email about Shurley English assignments.
Grading Policy
Progress reports are sent home every 4 weeks and report cards are issued every quarter. Any grade that a student receives that is below a 70% must be signed by a parent, corrected, and returned to school.

5 Classroom Management
Positive Reinforcement: Your child’s behavior will be praised and rewarded all year long! Exceptionally wonderful behavior will earn “Bulldog Bucks” which can be redeemed for prizes such as pencils, homework passes, extra points on tests, and other rewards. Consequences: When a classroom rule is broken, the following progressive discipline system will be followed: 1st offense: A warning slip will be placed on the child’s desk. 2nd offense: Loss of part of recess time and the student will have to fill out a behavior reflection form and take it home for a parent signature. 3rd offense: Indoor recess in the office with Administration or loss of a privilege/activity that week. The student fill out a behavior reflection form and take it home for a parent signature. 4th offense: Meeting with parents and Mrs. Schneberger to discuss further discipline. Contact Information
