His agricultural travels have taken him to more than 40 countries and he has crisscrossed the United States many times. Copies of his book, which can be autographed, will be available for sale. The Friends of the Library will sponsor a reception afterward to give you a chance to meet this legendary member of the National Radio Hall of Fame. Please register on the Library’s program calendar at www.cslibrary.org. Wow! Local resident, decorated Veteran, beekeeper, author, and retired civil engineer Dr. Lawrence A. DuBose recently made a generous donation of $25,000 to the Carol Stream Public Library. Dr. DuBose has been an avid reader since he was a young boy. He grew up in Texas where his father was a school principal and superintendent. They would visit the library together where he would select books that helped develop his love of reading. Dr. DuBose owned and operated a succesful local business, Testing Service Corporation. During his career, books were his constant companion as he traveled the world solving a myriad of engineering problems. A veteran of World War II, he is also the recipient of the Purple Heart. Dr. DuBose has been an avid beekeeper since the age of 13 and has funded the Beekeeping project at Kline Creek Farm in West Chicago for 30 years. Wanda’s Honey House, which is located at the farm, is named in honor of his late wife. Volunteering nearly two thousand hours each year himself, Dr. DuBose and other volunteers care for the bees, jar the honey, and donate it for sale at the Visitor Center. In addition, they give lectures to hundreds of children each year about the importance of honey bees and pollination. The Library Board and staff are abuzz with gratitude to Dr. DuBose for his generosity to the citizens of Carol Stream in support of our Library. Thank you Dr. DuBose!
