Copy files to the Computer
1. First you need to create a folder to store all your files in.
2. Navigate to your My documents folder.
3. Double Click to open the My Documents folder.
4. Right click on the Proshow folder, click New Folder and type in
your name.
5. Press Enter.
6. You have a new folder created with your name.
7. Now create a folder for your project. Repeat step 3 to create a
new folder.
8. Copy & paste your files from your CD’s over to the hard drive
on the computer.

Work Flow for Creating a show in Proshow Gold
In ProShow Gold, you can spend as little or as much time as you like creating a show.
The amount of time you spend on show creation depends on how detailed you want to be
when composing your show. This is a suggested work flow for building a show:

Description
Lists the folders and files at the top and displays thumbnails
at the bottom. Right click to open a short cut menu.
To select photos (slides) to place in the slide list, Ctrl+Click or
Click+shift click.
Then Drag and Drop into the Slide list at the bottom of the
workspace.
2.Slide List
Allows you to move your slides by dragging and dropping to
new location.
Change transitions of individual slides by clicking on the

Change the Slide Preferences
Before you add any slides (photos), it is recommended that you change the
preferences of your Slide show. These changes will affect all slides added to the show
when you drag and drop them into the timeline window.
1. To access slide preferences click on the menu Edit, Preferences
Setup show defaults before you drag and drop your pictures into the slide list at
the bottom of the screen.

Show Options
Show Options control the basic settings that affect your overall show. You can access
these options at any time, even before adding slides to your show. You can do the
following from this window:
Set the show title that appears in the Show Info bar and on menus.
Specify the aspect ratio of the show.
Set the size of the Safe Zone indicators in the Preview.
Specify certain transitions for Random Transition Effects.
To Access Show Options, Click on the menu Show, Show Options.

The safe zone is important if you intend on saving the show on a DVD that will
be played on a television.

Adding Show Content
Your show Content consists of all images, video and audio in your show. In order to
let you spend more time customizing your show, ProShow Gold makes it very easy to
get started by letting you drag and drop content into your show list and sound list at
the bottom of the window.

How To:
Add content to your show
1. Use the Folder and File Lists to browse for images, videos and
audio files.
2. In the File List, select the files you would like to add to your
show
Select files in random order by using CTRL+Click
Select files in sequence, click on the first one, scroll, then
SHIFT+click on the last one.
3. Drag and drop the selected image, video and audio files into the
Slide and Audio Lists.
4. The slides will appear in the Slide List window.

Select the Slide Options and then click on the Captions button to add text to your
slide.

How To:
Add a Title Slide
1. In the Slide List, your new slide will be inserted to the left of
your selected slide.
2. Choose Slide, Insert Blank Slide.
3. Select the Blank Slide in the Slide List by clicking on it.
4. Choose Slide, Slide Options and click on the Captions button on
the left side of the window.
5. Add a caption and customize it in Caption Options.

Edit your slides
You can change the options for an individual slide. You can: edit your slide by:
Edit the brightness, contract, hues, Fix Red eye, Crop, change the
orientation by choosing, Flip, horizontally or vertically.
Adding Motion to your slide, by specifying a Panning start and end point
on your slide.
Adding Text Captions to your slide.
To access Slide Options by clicking on the menu Slide, Slide Options or double click
on the slide in the slide list pane.
Photos can be editing in other software first, such as Photoshop or Photoshop
Elements, then brought into ProShow.

Motion can create a mode for your show, just don’t over do it!

Set Slide Timings
Slide times determine how long each slide will be visible. By increasing or
decreasing the slide time, you change the image or video’s effect on the viewer. The
slide time is displayed below the slide thumbnail in the Slide List.

To Set Slide Timing:
1. In the Slide List, click on the slide time below the selected slide’s
thumbnail.
2. Enter a new time in seconds. E.G. 6.0
3. Press < Enter > to apply the change.
To Set Slide Timing for Multiple Slides or Entire show:
1. First select your slides
Select files in random order by using CTRL+Click
Select files in sequence, click on the first one, scroll, then SHIFT+click
on the last one.
Press < CTRL+A > to select all slides.
2. Enter a new time in seconds.
3. Press < Enter > to apply the change to the selected slides. All the selected
slides now have the same slide time.

Transition Timing
ProShow Gold allows you to configure the exact length of each transition effect. A
Transition is the special effect such as: Heart, waves, dissolves, stars, etc. that
moves you from one slide to the next.
Transition timing does not affect your Slide Timing in any way. The transition effect
will occur as quickly or as slowly as you want, based on the Transition Timing.

1. In the Slide List, click on the transition time below the transition icon.
2. Enter a new time in seconds.
3. Press < Enter > to apply the change.

Choose a Transition
Transitions
Transitions occur when one slide disappears and the next appears. In ProShow Gold,
there are over 280 transition effects to choose from so you can pick the perfect
effects for your show. Some photos transitioning into another photo can create a
certain type of mood.

To Set a Transition:
1. In the Slide List, click on the transition you would like to change.
2. This opens the Choose Transition window. In this window, preview any
transition by hovering over it with the mouse pointer.
3. Select the desired transition by clicking on it.
To Set a Transition for Multiple Slides or Entire Show:
1. First select your slides
Select files in random order by using CTRL+Click
Select files in sequence, click on the first one, scroll, then SHIFT+click
on the last one.
Press CTRL+

3. Press Enter to apply the change to the selected slides. All the selected
slides now have the same slide time.

How to add Motion to your Slide
Panning and Zooming
Motion options control the motion of layers in your slide. With ProShow Gold, you
can use Pan, Zoom and Rotate to create a variety of effects.

How to add Motion Effects:
1. In the Slide List, click on the slide you would like to modify.
2. Choose Slide, Slide Options and click on the Motion button on the left
side of the window.
3. Make adjustments to the selected layer. E.G. End Position, change zoom
and pan.
4. Click Done.

Basic Layers
You can use Layers to create a zoom/pan motion, smoothes the motion. With Layers
you can also put borders around your picture. Layers are created when you use the
Copy features in the Motion Options dialog box.

Adding Text (Captions)
The Captions options let you add customized text to the current slide. Captions
include any type of text, macros or symbols; each configured with different settings,
motion and text effects.

How To Add Text to a Slide:
1. Select the slide in the Slide List that you want to add text.
2. Choose Slide, Slide Options and click the Captions
left side of the window.

4. Enter the text of the caption in the Text area.
5. Position your caption by clicking on it and dragging it.
6. Select color, font, size and effects.
7. Click Done.

Adding Music to your Show
You can easily add music to your shows directly from Audio CDs. CD support is
integrated into the software, so you never have to convert or import tracks to a
digital format for use in your slide show. There are two ways you can use audio from
CDs.
Dragging and dropping tracks from a CD. (not recommended)
Saving audio from a CD using Windows Media. (Recommended)

Saving audio from a CD, you will need to “Rip’ the music. Use windows media
player to Rip music. The music will be stored in the ‘My Music” folder.

Your sound file must be in the same folder as your Proshow .psh file.

How To:

Add music to your show.
1. Place the desired music CD into the disc drive on your
computer.
2. .The Audio CD window displays. Click on Rip Music from CD.
3. Click on OK.
4. Window Media Player window is displayed.
5. Place a checkmark next to the song(s) that you want to Rip
(copy) into the My Music folder.
6. Click the Start Rip button.
7. If you need to stop, click the Stop Rip Button.

Preview the show
The Preview Window allows you preview any file selected in the File List or view
show playback in real time. ProShow Gold's real-time preview lets you move quickly
to any point in the show. It can also be viewed at any size, including full screen.
Playback Controls
To Use Full Screen Playback:
1.
Click anywhere in your current show.
2.
Right-click on the Preview Window.
3.
Choose < Full Screen Playback >.
4.
Click < Play >.
5.
To exit Full Screen Playback, press < ESC >.
To return to the normal mode, repeat Steps 1 through 3.
Collecting Show Files
The Collect Show Files feature copies all of your show content (slides, music, video) and
places it in one folder so that you can easily backup your show or move it to another location
on you computer.

To Access Collect Show Files:
1. With your show open in ProShow Gold, choose File, Collect Show Files.
2. Choose the output location in the dialog box. This is where you type a folder name eg.
Collect files.
3. Click Collect. There will be 3 folders created: audio, image and video. There will also be
a .psh file for your show in the main folder(collected files). Copy all of these items to a
CD and bring to Camera Club.
