Sweet margaritas and beer, hot temperatures and country music blended to create another memorable night of dancing and fun! Nearly 350 people enjoyed the rich country music of the Dave Russell Band with chants for more songs! Airlines “The Dave Russell Band is currently performing at the State Fair but took time to help St. John’s,” said John Pritchard, Executive Director of St. Johns Retirement Village/Stollwood Convalescent Hospital. “The crowd loves his music. It keeps them hopping.” The down home meal prepared by Chef Kap Vong of St. John’s Retirement Village “was the best one ever”, one patron exclaimed. The event featured a live auction, with Woodland auctioneer Dennis West engaging the crowd and selling 15 auction items ranging from a helicopter ride with wine tasting, a wheelbarrow full of wine bottles, a bed and breakfast stay in Mendocino and a condo stay in Tahoe, whitewater rafting and outdoor BBQ grill, golfing at Yolo Fliers and Southwest Airline tickets. There also were 16 stretch raffle baskets with many happy winners. A 46-in flat screen TV, donated by Best Buy was raffled off and was won by local couple Wally Huffer and Virginia Batis-Osegueda. Proceeds of over $25,000 will benefit the non-profit, by supporting work to repair cracked sidewalks, resurface roadways and install ADA compliant ramps around the 14 acre gated community.
