I arrived in the US on November 28th (Thu) 1963. So it’s been 50
years since I first set foot on this land. That was also the month
when President Kennedy was murdered. I can’t believe its been
half a century from that incident! I remember it was Thanks Giving day and I was invited for a turkey dinner at Mrs. F.’s place. I
remember being awed by the size of the bird but more than that,
I was surprised by the deliciousness of California rice. In LA, some
friends took me to the Japanese restaurant , Yamashiro in Hollywood that has an spectacular view. How vast and grand this land
is! That was my impression then and still now, it humbles me.
A friend whom I’ve known for aver 40 years
passed away a little while ago. He loved
sports and was a really great person so I was
shocked to hear of his sudden passing.
In my hometown, my fiends from high
school created the “77 years old reunion” . My friend tells me
they were expecting a great turn out but were sadly surprised
that the number of attendees diminished considerably since last
year counting only around 75 participants.
We tend to secretely think that our time will not come so soon
but realistically, there are no guarantees, are there?
One sage thinker once said that if you want to live your life fully ,
you must first learn about death. In my mind, that means that we
must understand how precious each moment of our lives is and
live to the best of our ability each day, creating some kind of value in our lives. More than ever, I try to read as many books and
listen to as many classics as I can. Traveling an exploring new
places and meeting new people is also important to me. I waste
no time in exploring new places even simple stores and restaurants as soon as I find them out. I’m glad that brings some kind of
amusement to my employees.
The other day, I read on the paper that there are 3 words that
bring good fortune. They are: “Thank you”, “I appreciate you”
and “I am lucky”. I think this is correct. Instead of living life complaining and lamenting, appreciating every simple thing will surely turn the tides of fortune to the positive every time.
I try to count how many times I say thank you in one day and
try to say it more the next.
7 years ago, when we moved to the current office, I bought a
new desk. I liked that desk because of its clean lines. Unfortunately, the drawers became loose one after another and finally,
I had to give the desk up. I was disappointed because the desk
was bought from a reliable furniture store and I imagined myself using this desk for at least another 10 years.
I replaced that desk by one made in the USA which I bought
from a small furniture store that have been around for quite a
long time. The price was somewhat higher but it is built well
and feels very sturdy so I’m hoping it can be passed on to my
grandchildren.
Again and again I learn the value of quality over quantity. Nothing surpasses quality.
Even in the case of dietary supplements. As a formulator, I
could easily choose cheap ingredients and create the same
product as the ones we do; but for one, I would not be able to
sleep at night and two, the product would not yield benefit as
expected. It would be a loose, loose situation anyway I see it.
Most of our customers are long time loyal friends who trust and
praise our products. These persons are the real treasures of our
company.
Thanks to them, I am able to increase my good fortunate everyday when I say thank you from the bottom of my heart! I am
very lucky to have met you and I really appreciate each one of
you!

Magnus Product tips
Here are a few different ways to utilize some of Magnus’ products. These tips are used by our colleagues and customers:
Pain Zero is great for muscles and joint pains but did you
try using it for headaches? Our staff rubs Pain Zero on
the neck and temples and it greatly alleviates headaches! It is also great to alleviate muscle pain right after
a muscle cramp!
2 pounds Brussels sprouts
1/4 cup unsalted butter
2 small red onions, cut into strips
1/8 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 tablespoons white sugar
salt and pepper to taste
Place Brussels sprouts in a steamer basket over boiling
water. Cover saucepan and steam 8-10 minutes or until
Brussels sprouts are tender yet crisp.
Melt the butter in a deep skillet, add the onions and 3
tablespoons vinegar; cook until onions brown.
Add the Brussels sprouts, sugar and remaining vinegar.
Saute over medium heat until the Brussels sprouts are
lightly caramelized. Season with salt and pepper to
taste and garnish with pistachios.
Alka mineral is a great mineral supplement but we
can also use it as a great gargle! It helps kill unwanted bacteria and Mr. Torii swears by it every
time he feels a sore throat coming up! Just add it
to water and gargle away!
