INFINIUM - A COMPLETE LINE OF DRINKWARE
Made of 100% BPA-free
Tritan copolyester,
Infinium mimics the
clarity of glass and is
virtually unbreakable
INFINIUM
Infinium is produced using Tritan™ material from Eastman
Chemical
 Tritan material was introduced to the market in 2007.
 It is manufactured by Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport,
Tennessee.
 Libbey® and Eastman worked together to specify Tritan in
Libbey’s new premium plastic drinkware line.
 Tritan is BPA-free, BPS-free, and EA-free.
COMPETITOR MATERIALS - SAN
SAN is commonly used in restaurant drinkware and
barware.
SAN is reasonably clear and dishwasher resistant.
SAN drinkware is not resistant to impact such as
dropping from a server’s tray.
Tritan is superior to SAN due to:
 Clarity
 Quality and durability
 Toughness
 Foodstuff compatibility
All testing and statements regarding Tritan™ copolyester mechanical properties and durability are made by Eastman Chemical Company
COMPETITOR MATERIALS - POLYCARBONATE
Polycarbonate is often used in beverageware and barware.
It is generally clear, durable, and high-heat resistant. It is also under
regulatory scrutiny due to bisphenol-A (BPA).
Tritan is superior to polycarbonate due to:
 Clarity
 Dishwasher durability
 Foodstuff and detergent compatibility

INFINIUM MATERIAL: TRITAN
Tritan exceeds the competition in toughness and reliability
 Resists drops, rough handling, and accidents in the foodservice
environment
 Less breakage
 Lower replacement costs for your customers
 Greater customer satisfaction
 Reduced liability concerns
Longer-lasting, higher quality product vs. SAN, PC, tABS,
MS, or acrylic

TOUGHNESS
Elongation is a
measure of the
amount a material can
be stretched before it
breaks. Higher
elongation signifies
higher ductility; higher
number indicates
improved toughness.

BPA REGULATIONS
BPA REGULATIONS
Overview of BPA Regulations
 Proposed legislation restricting Bisphenol A in the US and
Canada started in 2008
 Most legislation was targeted for children under a specific age
 More recently, legislation has been introduced and enacted
with no age limitations
IMPLICATON: Bisphenol-A legislation is no longer an infant products issue.
It has the potential to impact business operations in commercial foodservice.
