Group Swim Classes
Greetings,
At AJCC Camp Komaroff, it is a pleasure as well as a privilege
for our great staff to work with your children in a setting that
provides unique, innovative, and diverse programming.
Our mission is to provide all children with a safe, nurturing
place to discover dreams, find hidden talents, develop new
skills, and become more independent. We believe in fostering
relationships—campers’ relationships with each other,
with staff, with family, with our diverse community,
and with Judaism.
Our Staff...
The AJCC Youth & Teen Staff is hand-picked from a
large pool of qualified applicants. As we interview
staff, we look for certain qualities: maturity,
enthusiasm, warmth, and the willingness to take a
chance, to try something different. We look for
counselors and instructors who understand what it
feels like to be a kid, and who aren't afraid to be one
themselves. Once selected, counselors go through
rigorous training, including sessions in program
planning, field trip management, first aid & safety,
conflict resolution, and much more. At the end of
the comprehensive training, our staff is revved up
and ready to go from Day One! And to ensure that
we stay up-to-date, staff continues to meet weekly
to brush up on old skills and acquire new ones so
that we can meet the individual needs of each
camper.
Kavod (honor/respect):
Our staff instills values and the concept of respect
into our campers from the day one. Our camp
groups create their own rules and codes to live
by and are encouraged to respect each other
and their surroundings at all times.
1
www.alpertjcc.org
In order to help children attain these goals, we provide
a wide range of well-planned activities both on and off
campus, facilitated by our highly-trained, energetic staff.
Incorporated into every activity at camp are Jewish values
such as tikkun olam (repairing the world), kavod
(honor/respect), kehillah (community), shalom (peace),
rachmanus (compassion), gemilut chasadim (acts of loving
kindness), and shmirat haguf (taking care of your body).
Whether campers are playing sports, creating arts & crafts,
or performing mitzvah projects, these values help guide
children to see how their actions make a difference and
help them learn what they can do to make the world a
better place.
I look forward to seeing everyone at camp this summer!
