situated in the centre of the low-rise Zuiderpolder urban plan.
The terraced apartment building seems to slide backwards into

The Patronaat is one of the ten largest alternative pop music
halls in the Netherlands and was established in 1984. The big
stage or theatre can house 600 to 950 people standing, and the
smaller theatre is designed for 300 visitors. Because of the lack
of space in the inner-city context, these theatres are stacked
upon each other. The café-restaurant can also be used for
smaller band, ‘unplugged’ or dj’s. Every theatre has its own
entrance and the visitors can park their bicycle in the basement.
Trucks can enter the building through an inner street.

City Hall Raakspoort is the first of two buildings for the new
accommodation of the City of Haarlem. From the Zijlvest the
public enters the hall, with counters, consultancy rooms and
self-service points. The hall is synoptic, wide and light; a spiral
stair and a green wall are the eye-catchers. On the upper floors
are the workspaces according to a flexible and varied office
concept. Through the white walls, floors and ceilings,
interspersed with accent colours and wood tones, the sustainable
building (Dutch GPR 8 qualifications) breathes purity, space and
light.

The Municipal Theatre of Haarlem is a cultural landmark in the
historical centre of Haarlem. The original theatre, built during
WWII, is a listed monument and ranks among the 5 most
important theatres in The Netherlands. EEA's design includes
renovation and extension of the existing theatre. Respectful
restoration of its unique character was one of EEA's main design
objectives. The most striking intervention is the replacement of
the original flight tower by a new structure. Brickwork,
ornamented porcelain and partially screen printed glass are
integrated into the existing eclectic Art Deco façade. The design
is the result of a co-operation of Erick van Egeraat with
well-known Dutch ceramic artist Babs Haenen.
