color case hardened lever; ladder rear sight graduated to 900 yards; fixed-stud

Condition: Overall excellent plus/near new condition and 100% original as
manufactured by the Marlin Firearms Company. Receiver retains virtually all of
its original high gloss bright blue with a faint saddle ring shadow on left side and
some handling scratches on right side; 85% vivid case hardening remains on lever;
98% bright blue on barrel and mag tube; buttplate retains 90% original blue finish;
stocks retain all of their high gloss varnish finish with some handling marks and
some finish loss on right side of the wrist; action is crisp; bore is mint.
In 1914, Marlin offered to its dealers “10 Model 1894 Carbines, .44-40, 15-inch
barrel, overrun from large lot made for Mounted Police of Chile, with their
inscription on top of frame in small letters, $10.00”. Based on the exceptionally
fine condition, especially compared to other specimens with these same markings,
we believe this is one of those 10 carbines that never made it to Chile. Includes
BATF clearance letter.
