PCC Viewbook 2016-2017 - Pensacola Christian College
What’s Your Next Step? Your next big step will start you on a path, a journey, an adventure. Start here Take the next step that will bring you closer to God. Hear truths in a 30-minute chapel message that will stick with you for the next 30 years. (It’s what a lot of alumni say they miss the most.) Find yourself thinking, “I never realized that!” in Bible classes each semester—starting with Old and New Testament surveys and a course on biblical creationism. Make it a habit to pray for others with prayer groups that meet during the week. You walk with God one step at a time, one day at a time. Make it easier to take those right steps every day, starting in college. Hearing a challenge from God’s Word in chapel Junior class project, cleaning up Hollice T. Williams Park in downtown Pensacola Take the next step that will make you committed to serve Christ. People are waiting for you to share Christ’s love. Children, teens, adults, and the elderly—they all need Christ. You can be the one to reach them. Tell children about the gift of salvation in Bible club or see their huge smiles when you help with the puppet ministry. Show troubled teens how much God still loves them with Christian Service groups to the Juvenile Justice Center. Visit nursing home residents and give encouragement and love that makes them feel that they are not forgotten. You never know how much taking even a few hours to serve can change an eternity. And at PCC, you don’t have to go alone or struggle to find the type of ministry you’re best at. You’ll have over 70 different types of ministry opportunities. Are you ready? Take the next step that will make you ready to begin your career. Do you know your calling? Even if you don’t, you can get an education that helps you find it, then prepares you to follow it. Learn from dedicated, supportive Christian faculty who see teaching as their ministry. Grow academically in an atmosphere that points you to Christ. Accomplish things you never thought you could, no matter your field. You could treat real patients as a nursing student, create a campaign as an advertising major, or teach in an elementary or high school classroom for a semester as an education major. You have 55 majors and 32 minors to choose from, but your degree won’t be the real prize. Your real prize will be leaving college prepared for what’s next. Sophomore Shawn B. measuring a signal with an oscilloscope in the electrical engineering lab Elementary education major Abby W. from MI graduating without debt Take the next step that will make you able to start your life without college debt. Imagine paying off student loans every month for 21 years after college graduation. (U.S. News and World Report says that’s how long it takes for the average graduate with a bachelor’s degree.1) Now imagine never having to make a single student loan payment ever. Think of being done paying for college weeks before you even graduate. Over 75% of PCC alumni know what that’s like. Tuition, room and board here is only $4,378/semester, whether you come from Florida or across the country. Then there’s an offer for free tuition, room and board your fourth year2 and available on-campus work and scholarships. 1 http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/data-mine/2014/10/07/ 2 student-loan-expectations-myth-vs-reality Tuition, room & board only; room & board may be taxable. Open only to U.S. and Canadian citizens. Fernando Higuera ’08, ’10 (M.B.A.) Hitachi Consultant David Hurst ’98 Pediatric Cardiologist Take the next step that will give you memories you’ll never want to forget. When you dive into college life, you’ll discover the great times waiting for you. Lose your voice cheering for your team. Or hear the audience’s laughter and know tonight’s performance will be the best yet. You might make a lifelong friend in your first class. There’s always something going on around campus—concerts, recitals, competitions, games, performances, portfolio readings, and even indoor rock climbing and surfing. What about off campus? You can watch dolphins glide through the water right next to your boat on an outing, tour a local alligator farm, canoe along the Blackwater River, explore historic downtown Pensacola, or go to a restaurant with an ocean view. Missions Run 2015, a student-organized 5K that raised over $26,000 Enjoying friendship and good weather while studying global business Take the next step that will give you friendships that make you better. For the best friendships, start with the best foundation: Christ. You can find friends at PCC who’ll make things like grabbing a coffee at the Common Grounds Café, studying for a test, or going to the beach more fun. But more than that, you can find friends who’ll encourage and challenge you, who’ll help you up if you fall—even if it’s just off a paddleboard at West Campus. What’s West Campus? It’s PCC property on Perdido Bay where you can go to kayak, sail, picnic, or, of course, paddleboard. Take your next step to PENSACOLA CHRISTIAN COLLEGE Come see what it’s like.
