Whether it is tempting you to rise with the early birds and watch the sun emerge from the Caribbean turquoise waters, or maybe it is tempting you to submerge yourself in the refreshing sea and enjoy an underwater adventure, or perhaps it simply tempts you to take a walk under the starlit skies with the one you love. Whatever the temptation may be, Captain Morgan’s Retreat and Vacation Club welcomes you. Located three and a half miles north from the busy streets of San Pedro Town, in a time still living in the past, Captain Morgan’s has beautifully blended the charm of yesteryear with the glorious amenities that we all have grown accustomed to. With eight free standing cabañas and various one and two bedroom villas, Captain Morgan’s takes care of your every necessity, leaving nothing to desire. Recently named Premier Resort by Interval International, who they have been affiliated with for the past few years; Captain Morgan’s is the only resort within Central America, excluding Mexico, that has achieved this status given to resorts that offer the highest, state-of-the-art conveniences, modern features and appointments. Captain Morgan’s is one step above the rest. The Cabañas Each of the eight cabañas stands on its own offering you the privacy that you long for. The charm of a thatched house setting on the beach clamors romanticism. Each unit begs total and complete relaxation in the comfort that will envelop you and your partner. They all offer a king sized bed, a small sitting area and a hot and cold private bathroom. Other amenities include a safe, air conditioning, small refrigerator, and a coffee maker. Yes, why not enjoy a cup of Joe while the sun rises in full open view of your private balcony. Adding a touch of charm to each cabaña is the name designated to them. Page 18 Visitor Guide May 22, 2008 Wolfe’s Woofers by Dennis Wolfe Paperwork “Why they want to know all of this stuff?” Lionel asked me. “Because it’s government business,” I told him. “Whenever you’re trying to do something with the U.S. government they want to know everything about you.” I was at the U.S. Embassy in Belmopan to pick up some paperwork. Lionel owns a taxi in Belize City and he had driven me to the Capitol City at a good price because he wanted to apply for a visa. “I know they want to know everything but some of this seems useless,” Lionel said. “I got to write down my wife’s name and all my children, where I work, and all kind of things. They make it hard to get a visa. This is confusing.” “I think they make it confusing so people will give up and just not apply,” I told him. “I’ll fill out all of these forms,” Lionel said, “and then I’ll have you check it over when I’m done. That way I’ll know it’s pretty right.” “Sure.” “Mr. Wolfe. The consul will see you now,” the lady behind the glass window called to me. When I came out of the consul’s room a few minutes later, Lionel was just finishing with his visa application. “Check this over,” he said. “It looks pretty good to me,” I said, as I glanced over it. “You’ve got your wife’s name and all your children, your income, what you plan to do in the U.S. and …Hey! Wait a minute!” “What?” Lionel asked. “On this one part they ask you to put in the age of your father and mother if living. You have your father’s age as 127 and your mother’s age as 122. Is that their correct ages?” “It asks for their age if living,” Lionel said. “That’s how old they would be if they were living.” Trivia Tidbits... *Millipedes never have a thousand legs.
