[Table 14] James Robbins Julie Rubini The Real Custer: From Boy General to Tragic Hero takes a good hard look at the life and storied military career of native Ohioan George Armstrong Custer—from cutting his teeth at Bull Run in the Civil War, to his famous and untimely death at Little Bighorn. Robbins demonstrates that, although graduating last in his class at West Point, Custer proved himself an extremely skilled cavalry leader, yet his undoing was due to the same bold and cocky attitude that had made him a hero. Last in Their Class: Custer, Pickett, and the Goats of West Point provides a fascinating look at West Point under-achievers who found both successful and notorious careers outside the academy. Robbins received his PhD from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and is a member of the advisory board to the National Civil War Museum. [Table 34] Missing Millie Benson: The Secret Case of the Nancy Drew Ghostwriter and Journalist (ages 10+) uncovers the true story of Millie Benson, a writer for the Stratemeyer syndicate which paid its writers a flat fee for their work. Julie’s Hidden Ohio (ages 6-9) explores all that makes Ohio unique, and readers will uncover hidden items on every page. [Table 20] Tim Ryan Today a buck gets you a quick burger (or two), but what’s the real cost of that meal? We rely on industry to put dinner on the table—yet this system has valued efficiency and short-term profits over our own health and the health of our environment. So how do we keep America thriving? In The Real Food Revolution: Les Roberts The people of Queenstown, Ohio, don’t take kindly to strangers, but they have no choice in the matter when two people are found murdered and local law enforcement needs help with the investigation. Enter Milan Jacovich for his 18th case in Ashtabula Hat Trick. Willis Read all about the fascinating Ohio locations where the past comes alive— in more ways than one—in Ohio’s Historic Haunts: Investigating the Paranormal in the Buckeye State. A paranormal investigator, Willis has interviewed, researched, and personally investigated a number of Ohio locations said to be haunted: the Arts Castle in Delaware, Loveland Castle, the Ohio State Reformatory, and many others. Founder of the Ghosts of Ohio organization based in Columbus, Willis is also the author of Weird Ohio and The Big Book of Ohio Ghost Stories. [Table 35] Cleary Wolters Cleary Wolters, of Cincinnati, is the real-life inspiration for the character Alex Vause in the hit TV show Orange Is the New Black. Now speaking out for the first time, Cleary shares her part of the story including how she introduced Piper to the criminal activities that would ultimately send both of them to prison. In Out of Orange: A Memoir, Cleary honestly recounts an emotional tale of the bold decisions and epic mistakes she made and her struggle to keep them from defining the rest of her life. The Glow of Paris: The Bridges of Paris at Night is a lavish hardcover coffee table book presenting photographs and histories of the 35 bridges that cross the Seine in Paris. No one else has photographed all the bridges in this way. At night, we don’t see crowds of people or heavy traffic and nothing obscures the beauty and strength of the structures. Gary’s black and white photographs are rich with detail, revealing architectural elements, nearby buildings, trees on the riverbanks, and starry lamps casting paths of light across the water. A native of Wooster, Ohio, Zuercher and his French wife Dominique divide their time between the US and Paris. His book is also available in French, Paris s’illumine.
