Home carbonators are one of the fastest
growing trends in the US. In 2012 alone,
over 1.2 million units were sold. Although
they have been on the market for several
years, they are just starting to garner real
support.

Originally intended to create seltzer water,
users are branching out to make other,
more adventurous drinks. From sodas to
sangrias to other infused flavors, home
carbonators have opened up a new world
of drink experimentation.
•
Thanks in large part to eco-friendly
consumers looking to avoid plastic soda
bottles, expect this trend to grow and for
more innovations to be made in 2013. Look
for machines from SodaStream, Hamilton
Beach and Cuisinart to dominate the
market.

Juicing is quickly becoming growing
trend thanks to aging baby boomers
becoming more health conscious and
millennials’ proclivity for natural and
organic food options.

New studies are continually being
released on the health benefits of juicing
and juice “cleanses” are gaining
mainstream popularity. Because of the
expensive nature of these programs,
however, more people are turning to
home juicing units.

Brands like Cuisinart are working to
upgrade old models with new
technologies like slow extraction and
model features like dishwasher-safe
components and overflow channels.

Bakeware is also taking a cue from
television personalities. Shows like Cake
Boss, Ace of Cakes and DC Cupcakes have
inspired people to flex their baking skills
with more advanced recipes and projects.

techniques from these shows and as such
are looking for more high end, specialty
bakeware items. Like other celebrity
chefs, Buddy the Cake Boss is capitalizing
on this with a line of Cake Boss baking
tools.

Also popular in bakeware are treat
makers and seasonal items. Products like
cake pop molds and mini donut makers
are in high demand as well as seasonal
and holiday themed pans.

like Dupont and Whitford are offering
lines in an entire rainbow of non-stick
colored coatings.

Another rising trend in cookware is
the use of granite. Thanks to its
durability and aesthetic appeal, this
material is gaining popularity.
