UBCP’s Member Education Program COMMERCIAL NARRATION CLASS With Alison Matthews UBCP Member / Actor / Voice Coach / Teacher A professional actor and voice-over artist for nineteen years, Alison voices for clients such as Telus, Whistler-Blackcomb, the Government of Canada, the Dallas Museum of Art, Lockheed Martin, and Playland, to name a few. She can be heard as Major Motoko Kusanagi in the animated series ‘Ghost in the Shell’, and Forte Stollen in ‘Galaxy Angel’. The voice of KVOS TV for 9 years, Alison has voiced award-winning campaigns for a variety of charities & has a multitude of commercial, narration and animation credits to her name. As a coach, Alison works with Vancouver’s Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival and the Arts Club Actor’s Intensive. She has taught voice at Capilano University in North Vancouver, and has adjudicated competitive speech festivals across Western Canada for the past thirteen years. A two-time recipient of the BC Arts Council’s Senior Scholarship Award for her work in voice training, Alison holds a M.F.A. in Theatre from the University of British Columbia, and an associate ship in Speech & Drama from Trinity Guildhall London. Alison is a faculty member at On The Mic where the primary focus is voice-over training. Develop your vocal range and flexibility for radio and television commercials, as well as your narrative reads for documentaries and corporate videos. Train your ear, practice hearing and incorporating direction. Work in a professional studio, review mic technique, learn studio etiquette and industry terminology, and discuss elements of a competitive voice-over demo in today’s marketplace.
