For the 2013 / 2014 school year, endowed Scholarship program, for Freshman, with the Chancellor providing scholarships in the amount of 512,000 were part of the Legends matching $1000 scholarships and 15 additional $1500 scholarships provided directly by Co4NU for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. In 1972, Doug Dumler was co-captain with Bill Jansseii; Doug was one often Iluskers selected in the 1973 NFL draft taken in the 5th round by the New England Patriots from 1973 to 1975 and the Minnesota Vikings for 1976 and 1977. Doug WelnUtk - Doug Welniak was a walk on to NU adhere be played on special teams and was a weak side linebacker from 1983 to 1987. Doug started as a linebacker in 1987 and was also 1 of 3 captains voted on by his teammates. Austin Jones - Austin Jones provided depth at I-back throughout his Nebraska carter, including his senior season when he helped provide leadership lo three true freshmen <il the position. Jones appeared in six games in 2011, seeing reserve duly at running back. while also assisting on special teams. Jones earned his degree in cnmmunicalion studies in December of 20] 1. He was inducted into the All Century Husker Team. Jesse was Nebraska's lop punter, as he finished bis career as NU's single season (-14.7 average In 1996) and career ('11.90) punting leader. Bill Kosch - Bill Kosch was inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 1997 for bis career at UNI. from 1969 to 1971. Bob Churthich - Bob Churchidi came lo N'U from Omaha North High School where he was a 3 sport athlete. Bob played Quarterback for Nebraska from 1964-1966, earning All-Big Eight Honors in 1966 and setting [4 Cornhusker passing records. While at Nebraska, Bob's teams had a 37-6 record. Bob also played in the 1%3 Shrine Bowl. Besides Football, Bob was an All-American baseball player in college, and llu' Big liight Batting Champion in 1965. After college, IJnb played professional baseball with the Atlanta Braves. Rich Sanger - Rich Satlger was initially signed by NU as a linebacker but became the punter and kicker for Nebraska from 1971 to 1973.
