Lark is a second home in which I undergo a myriad of unforgettable experiences, trials, disappointment ments, ecstasies, and happiness.” 4 LARK MISSION STATEMENT LARK Musical Conservatory has stood as a cultural beacon within the Armenian community of Los Angeles since 1989, when a goal-oriented group of Armenian-American musicians, teachers, and community members, with an advocacy and appreciation for the arts, came together to turn their budding notions about educating the future generation into a reality. Their love for the proliferation of the Armenian musical arts metamorphosed into an organization that combined the Armenian musical tradition with those of American culture and Western classical music, where children were to learn the music of Mozart and Beethoven alongside that of Komitas and Khachaturian. With this as its curricular foundation, LARK has given its students a complete understanding of this culturally responsive and wholly expressive art form. At LARK, music is studied, researched, created, pubpub b lished, experienced, and performed by individuals of all ages who feel not only the art of music, but pride in culture and heritage as well. Torosyan Family: A true Lark family. 5 THE YEAR IN REVIEW §È³ñù¦ ºñ³Åßï³Ýáó ÎáÙÇï³ëÝ ³ë»É ¿© §²ÙμáÕç Ùï³ï³ÝçáõÃÇõÝë ¿ª ѳëóÝ»É ó É ³ß³Ï»ñïÝ»ñ« ß Ï ñ ñ áñáÝù ñ ù ¹åñáóÝ»ñáõ ¹åñ ó ñ Ù¿ç ç Ù»Í ï»Õ ·ñ³õ»Ý« ÝáõÇñáõ»Ý ³½·³ÛÇÝ »ñ³Åßïáõû³Ý áõëáõÙݳëÇñáõû³Ý« ï³ñ³Í»Ý ÅáÕáíñ¹Ç Ù¿ç Ñ³Û »ñ³Åßïáõû³Ý á·ÇÝ« áñå¿ë½Ç ÅáÕáíñ¹Ç Ù¿ç ³½·³ÛÇÝ »ñ³Åßïáõû³Ý ËûëùÁ Ù³ñÙݳݳۣ¦ LARK Conservatory ²Ûëûñ Çñ³Ï³ÝáõÃÇõÝ ¿ ¹³ñÓ»É ÎáÙÇï³ëÇ μ³ÕÓ³ÝùÁ£ ²Û¹åÇëÇ ¹åñáóÝ»ñÇó Ù¿ÏÝ ¿ ȳñùÁ« ȳñùÇ »ñ³Åßï³ÝáóÁ« áñÁ ųٳݳϳÏÇó »ñ³Åßï³Ï³Ý Ùß³ÏáÛÃÇ ³ëå³ñ¿½áõÙ Ý»ñϳ۳ÝáõÙ ¿ ·»Õ³ñáõ»ëï³Ï³Ý« Ù³ëݳ·Çï³Ï³Ý μ³ñÓñ ٳϳñ¹³Ïáí« Çñ»Ý μ³ó³Û³Ûï»Éáõ ѳñáõëï Ýϳñ³·ñáí£ Komitas once said, “My main preoccupation is to embolden students to become devotees and scholars of their nation’s music, to spread amongst their people the spirit of Armenian music, in order to ensure the embodiment of the nation’s music within the people.” §È³ñù¦ »ñ³Åßï³ÝáóÁ Çñ ¹éÝ»ñÝ ¿ μ³ó»É 1996é ·³ñݳÝÁ »õ ï³ÉÇë ¿ ѳñáõëï »õ Ùßï³å¿ë ½³ñ·³óáÕ ³ñï³¹åñáó³Ï³Ý »õ ß³μ³Ãûñ»³Û ï»ë³Ï³Ý ¹³ëÁÝóóÝ»ñÇ »ñ³Åßï³Ï³Ý áõëáõóáõÙ£ Today, Komitas’ call to action has become a reality at LARK Conservatory.
