TOUR 1: Gerlitzen panorama tour • Walking time: approx. 30mins
Walking from the Gerlitzen Gipfelhaus, you will pass the southernmost and highest
situated observatory in Austria. The next point of call is the “stone tower”, a relict
from WWII, where there is also an internet photo point. On the way back, you will
pass the Pacheiner mountain guesthouse and the starting field for model airplanes.

From the Grossglockner to the sea – the Alpe Adria Trail. On its
way to the Adriatic, this long-distance hiking trail also passes the
Gerlitzen. From Arriach the route leads across the Stifterboden
and the Neugarten Almsee mountain lake to the summit. The
next stage then goes down to the emerald green Lake Ossiacher
See, with the Ossiach Abbey as the destination.

From the top station of the Gerlitzen-Gipfelbahn chairlift at 1,911m, this route takes
you eastward towards the Feuerberg (1,760m). From there, a comfortable hiking
trail through the forest takes you back to the sun arena/middle station at 1,526m
via the Schönfeld settlement. TIP: If you feel like taking a rest, we recommend a
detour to the Sepplhütte guesthouse.

The “Kostale Weg”, a hike with tastings of regional specialities, starts at the
Gerlitzen Alpe middle station. From there, the route leads leisurely uphill for 25
to 30 minutes to the first tasting station, the Pöllingerhütte, where you can savour
delicious Carinthian “Kasnudel” (cheese-filled pasta pockets) to fortify you for
the next stage, 45 to 60 minutes to the Neugarten-Almseehütte. The main course
is served there: mountain bullock steak. In anticipation of the strudel specialities
served at the Gipfelhaus, the third stage (approx. 45 minutes) to the summit of the
Gerlitzen can be completed quickly. Pleasure hikers usually opt for the chairlift to
get back down to the middle station. Each of the three “Kostale” specialities costs
€ 6.50, but if you decide to taste all the dishes, you will get a discount!

From the top station of the Gerlitzen-Gipfelbahn chairlift (1,911m), the route takes
you over a well-maintained hiking trail to Stifterboden, where you choose the rest of
your hike: either take the slightly longer route via the Steinwenderhütte or the shortcut to the Kammerhütte mountain lodge. Via the Turnerhütte you get back to the sun
arena/middle station (1,526m). This is a family-friendly hike with many opportunities
to rest and take refreshments along the well-secured hiking trails through the forest.

From the Gerlitzen summit past the starting fields for paragliders and model flyers,
over easily accessible hiking trails and meadows to the Pöllingerhütte guesthouse,
where you have time to visit the mountain and alpine museum. Then continue downhill to the sun arena situated at the middle station of the cable car line (1,526m).
This route is particularly suitable for families with children and for beginners.

Gerlitzen “Pistenflitzer” go-karts: Powered by gravity alone, you will be whizzing down
the Gerlitzen on the “Moser” slope on a secured track which has a new wooden
floor – the ultimate in fun for adults and children alike. The mountain go-karts are
easy to steer and brake. They can be used by children who are at least 130cm tall.
Gerlitzen “Mini-Pistenflitzer” quads: Even our youngest guests will get their money’s
worth with these little electric quads which have their own track at the Kanzelhöhe
middle station.
Gerlitzen bungee trampoline: Take the jump and defy gravity with the Gerlitzen bungee
trampoline!
Free ascent and descent. Show photo ID! Paragliders: Only one ascent per day. A further € 2.50
will be charged (fee for transport of paraglider & starting fees).

family in the heart of Carinthia! Numerous secured and
well-marked hiking trails to the mountain lodges are
also suitable for prams* – this way, a trip to the Gerlitzen and the exercise out in the open become an unforgettable experience for all the family.

Amidst the lush green of the Alpine pastures and well
cared for by social and friendly hosts, Carinthian
home-style cooking tastes best. To enjoy the traditional
Alpine flair, stop at one of the many lodges near the

Gerlitzen – a cut above!
We take you and your bike up to the summit.
On the Gerlitzen, cycling between the mountain and the
lake becomes a unique experience. You can glide with
your bike to the summit with ease while watching the
mountain top come closer and dreaming of the altitude
and the feeling of freedom waiting for you up there. Having arrived on the summit, you can enjoy the sun and the

Carinthia from a bird’s eye view
Due to its special thermals, the Gerlitzen is well known
as a paradise for paragliding. Paragliders from all
over the world love to float majestically in the sky and
enthral spectators with acrobatics in the air. Watch the
masters of the air when they start from the Gerlitzen
summit or try a tandem flight yourself! Information is
available at the paragliding schools on site.

PISTENFLITZER ascent in a double chairlift (duration: approx. 5 minutes); descent
with the “Pistenflitzer” go-kart (duration: approx. 2 minutes).
Children must be at least 130cm tall.

Fit and healthy!
At an altitude of 1,500m, at the height of the Kanzelhöhe middle station, several Nordic Walking trails are
available for your personal health and fitness training
and to boost your fat burning. The trails are classified
into three difficulty levels and are marked and provided
with check points throughout.
