This weekend, we welcome Fr. Louis Ekka,
pastor at St. Mary Queen of the Angels Parish in Swartz Creek, to share with us about
his native home of Gumla, India. Fr. Louis
has been a member of the Lansing Diocese
Presbyterate for the past 12 years.
The Diocese of Gumla was created on August 22, 1993. It is in
the state of Jharkhand in the northeastern part of India. It was
started by the Belgian Jesuit Missionaries. Because of their selfless service, the Diocese is thriving. Today, the Diocese proudly
serves 154,000 Catholics with over a hundred diocesan priests
and around 40 religious priests. We have convents in all the parishes with about 250 nuns working in schools, hospitals and orphanages. The missionary work is far from being fully accomplished. The area is vast and the needs are many. More places of
worship, schools and development centers are needed to educate
and evangelize the poor and marginalized of the area. Every gift
from the heart makes a difference and we thank you for you sacrifices and generosity for supporting the education of our seminarians.
Members of the Knights of Columbus are once
again collecting sweatshirts for Boysville. They
are not to be gift wrapped, only labeled whether
for a Boy or Girl and the size. Greatest need is for
sizes Large and X-Large. Please place your contribution in the box located in the Narthex. The last day for contributions is November 29. Thank you for your generosity!
In Thanksgiving for our Pastor,
Fr. Mark
The St. Vincent DePaul Society has been given
four gift cards to Meijer for needy families in
the parish to help with a Thanksgiving meal. If
you know of a family in need please contact
Deacon Steve at [email protected]

THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The readings today speak of the end of the world and coming of the
kingdom. The bishops’ pastoral on stewardship says clearly that “that
‘life to come’ is in continuity with this present life through the human
gods, the worthy human purposes, which people foster now.” May our
good stewardship help us to be numbered among the chosen on the last
day!

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon
her.
KITCHEN CLEANING
The kitchen in St. Joseph Hall is going to undergo

SCHOOL NEWS
St. Mary School students, parents, teachers and staff
would like to thank Mrs. Stephanie Dunckel, Mrs. Marsha Swain
and all the volunteers who worked so hard to make the Fall Rummage Sale a success.
We would also like to thank all those parishioners who
donated items for the sale and those who came and shopped at the
sale. Your generosity to the school is greatly appreciated. Your
continuing support makes St. Mary School possible. Thank you
and God bless you all.
The students and staff are currently working on a service
project to benefit “Trees for Troops,” a charity that provides
Christmas trees for active military families. Throughout November, each class will sponsor a lunchtime bake sale with all proceeds going to the Trees for Troops program. Mrs. Whelton’s PK
and DK class held their Bake Sale during the last week of October and raised enough money to provide a Christmas tree to 2
families. Next up is Mrs. Meier’s K/1 class. Their Bake Sale will
be on Thursday, November 12th at lunchtime in the Activity Center. Please feel free to stop by; all items are .50 each.
Looking ahead, the 4th /5th grade class will be presenting
the play, “A First Thanksgiving,” in St. Joseph Hall on Tuesday,
November 24th in the afternoon. Please feel free to come to St.
Joe’s Hall that day and see what the students have in store for us.
Exact performance time is yet to be arranged. Look for that information in future bulletin announcements.
God bless your weekend.
Yours in Christ,
Sue Penn, Principal
