consecutive year at the GMC Rangeland
Derby, he is the reigning Champion
and Aggregate winner. Jason has seven
qualifications for the final four. Right
leader “Tycoon” was named to the Calgary
Stampede’s Equine Outfit of Excellence
for the second year in a row. He has had a horse named to the WPCA’s Equine
Outfit of Excellence five times. Jason won his fourth career World Chuckwagon
Championship in 2012 following in the wagon tracks of his father Tom Glass,
grandfather Ronnie Glass, and great-grandfather Tom Lauder. This fourth
generation dynasty boasts some of the greatest names in the sport has ever known.
Kirk Sutherland

Kirk is the 2013 reigning GMC Rangeland
Derby safety award winner. He has
qualified for the GMC Rangeland
Derby’s final four four times, and his
horse “Colonel” was named to the 2013
Calgary Stampede’s Equine Outfit of
Excellence. Kirk is also the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Champion of 2013, his
second consecutive title. He was runner up in the 2013 World Chuckwagon
Championship. He won three day monies at the 2012 GMC Rangeland Derby
which was the start of an incredible streak of eight consecutive day monies by
the same four horses.
Jerry Bremner

In 2013 Jerry qualified for the final four
championship of the Calgary Stampede
GMC Rangeland Derby, for the eighth
time. He placed in the top ten six times
over the 2013 GMC Rangeland Derby. He
won day money one run at the Battle of the
North. He is a co–holder of the old Calgary Stampede 5/8 track record. Jerry is
a three–time World Champion Chuckwagon Driver and has had four horses
named to the WPCA Equine Outfit of Excellence. Jerry and his wife Donna have
two children Shane and Jaycee and he is an avid golfer and likes to travel.

2014 will be Rick’s sixteenth consecutive
year at the GMC Rangeland Derby; he has
qualified for the four - final four of the
GMC Rangeland Derby during his career.
He has had a horse named to the Calgary
in both 2013 and 2012. He has also had a
horse named to the WPCA’s Equine Outfit of Excellence fourth consecutive
years. Rick is the reigning World Champion Chuckwagon Driver for his second
time in his career; he won four show championships 2013. He holds the track
record at the Grande Prairie Stompede. He is a third generation chuckwagon
driver whose grandfather was the legendary Tom Dorchester and stepfather

Stampede’s Orville Strandquist Memorial
Award for Top Rookie Driver and he had
a horse named to the Calgary Stampede’s
Equine Outfit of Excellence. 2012 saw
Chanse win the WPCA Top Rookie Driver award, have a horse named to the
WPCA’s Equine Outfit of Excellence, and become just the fifth driver in WPCA
history to qualify for the Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby in his rookie
year. Chanse is a third generation driver whose father is four-time World
Champion Outrider and current driver Mike Vigen, and his grandfather was
five-time World and three-time Calgary Stampede Champion chuckwagon
legend Ralph Vigen.

he made it into “Semi Final Saturday”. His
horse “ACE” was named the champion
Left Leader of the WPCA Equine Outfit of
Excellence for 2013. In 2012 he won the
Strathmore Heritage Days Stampede and qualified for the winner-take-all final
at the Grande Prairie Stompede. In 2011 he qualified for the Calgary Stampede
GMC Rangeland Derby’s final four for the championship. Kurt holds the track
record at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede. Kurt is the son of long time

Jamie Laboucane

Residence: St. Walburg, Saskatchewan
In 2013 Jamie qualified for the GMC
Rangeland Derby but due to an injury
couldn’t continue to drive through the meet
and the reins were takeover by Doug Irvine.
The combination of Jamie’s team and
Doug’s driving the outfit qualified for “Semi
Final Saturday”. Jamie had his best year in
2012 winning the first show championship of his career at the Oil & Ag CPCA
Turtleford Derby. Also in 2012 in just his second GMC Rangeland Derby, Jamie ran
penalty free and narrowly missed qualifying for the Calgary Stampede’s “Semi
Final Saturday”, ending up in sixth/seventh place overall. He holds the CPCA
track record at North Battleford. Jamie is the son of driver Brian Laboucane, and
brother–in–law to fellow driver BJ Carey and outrider Mick Nolin.
Gary Gorst

In 2013 Gary qualified for the GMC
Rangeland Derby’s “Semi Final Saturday”
and had a horse named to the Calgary
for the second year in a row. He won top
day money one run at the Medicine Hat
Exhibition & Stampede. In 2012 he qualified for his first GMC Rangeland Derby
final four. Gary joined the WPCA Pro Tour in 2012 qualifying for the winner–
take–all championship final in his first show, the Grande Prairie Stompede.
Gary is a second generation wagon man whose father Art Gorst competed at
the Stampede in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. Gary is the father of fellow
driver Logan Gorst and champion outrider Dustin Gorst.
Chad Harden

2014 will be Chad’s fourteenth consecutive
year at the GMC Rangeland Derby. He won
day money one run at the Battle of the
North and Rocky Mountain House in 2013.
Chad earned the 2009 Calgary Stampede
GMC Rangeland Derby Champion title. In
2011 he again qualified for the GMC Rangeland Derby’s “Semi Final Saturday”.
He has won additional major show championships at the Ponoka Stampede,
Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship and Edmonton’s Chuckwagon Derby.
Chad was the first chuckwagon driver to win the WPCA and Calgary Stampede
top rookie honors in a single year.

Doug Irvine

Residence: LaCorey, Alberta
At the 2013 GMC Rangeland Derby Doug did
double duty driving his own wagon along
with one for injured Jamie Laboucane. Doug
qualified both wagons for the 2014 Calgary
Stampede. Also in 2013 he won day money
one day at the Grande Prairie Stampede. In
2012 Doug had his most successful Calgary
Stampede qualifying for his first GMC Rangeland Derby final four, finishing
second by a mere one one-hundredth of a second, this was the closest final four
in Calgary Stampede history. He won his first Calgary Stampede day money on
day four of the 2012 GMC Rangeland Derby, and ran penalty free all ten days.
He was runner–up to the Dewberry World Chuckwagon Races and the North
American Chuckwagon Championship in 2011.
Tim Haroldson

Birth Date: April 12, 1966
Residence: Melfort, Saskatchewan
Tim placed in the top five two times over the
2013 GMC Rangeland Derby. Tim qualified
to run at the 2014 GMC Rangeland derby
through the 2013 Stampede aggregate
standings. Tim had his most successful
Calgary Stampede in 2012 running all ten
days penalty free and qualifying for the GMC Rangeland Derby’s “Semi Final
Saturday”. He also qualified for the winner–take–all championship final at the
Ponoka Stampede in 2012.
Vern Nolin

In 2013 Vern was the CPCA Finals Dash
Champion – finishing the final standings
at 2nd overall. His 2013 season also saw
him take home day money from the North
Battleford Races. In 2012 Vern won his
second career CPCA Championship via
five show championships. Vern was also
the CPCA’s High Point Driver and qualified for his second GMC Rangeland
Derby “Semi Final Saturday” in 2012. Vern was co-champion of the CPCA’s
Dewberry show in 2012. He has qualified for the winner–take–all final heat for
the CPCA Chuckwagon Championship five times. Vern is the younger brother
of fellow driver Shane and Outrider Mick Nolin.

Troy Dorchester

Troy placed in the top ten four times over
the 2013 GMC Rangeland Derby. 2012 was
a great year for Troy winning the GMC
Rangeland Derby, Calgary Stampede
Aggregate and the Ponoka Stampede. He
has qualified for the Calgary Stampede
GMC Rangeland Derby’s winner–take–all championship final heat three
times. He won the WPCA Clean Drive Award in 2011. Troy is a third generation
chuckwagon driver with one of the most famous last names in professional
chuckwagon racing. He has placed inside the top ten in the World Standings
seven of the past eight years including the past six years consecutively.
Mark Sutherland

Mark made a late season push in 2013 and
placed 4th overall at Dawson Creek. 2012
was Mark’s twentieth year as a chuckwagon
driver, and he was named EnCana’s
Food Driver of the Year for the second
consecutive year. Mark qualified for the
semi-final round at the 2012 Ponoka
Stampede. He is a two–time winner of the Calgary Stampede’s Safe Drive
Award for least penalized driver. In 2011 he received the prestigious WPCA
Chuckwagon Person of the Year Award, and had a horse named to the WPCA’s
Equine Outfit of Excellence. Mark along with his father Kelly, were the feature
of a local television series entitled “Heat of the Moment” in fall of 2012.
Colt Cosgrave

Birth Date: November 4, 1978
Residence: Craigmyle, Alberta
Colt placed in the top ten three times over
the 2013 GMC Rangeland Derby. In 2012
Colt qualified for “Semi Final Saturday”,
and was runner-up for the Calgary
Stampede Aggregate title. He also qualified
for the winner-take-all final at the Battle
of the Rockies in Rocky Mountain House on the WPCA GMC Pro Tour. He
was named WPCA Most Improved Driver in 2010. Colt is the cousin of Driver
Jason Glass, and the son of the late Richard Cosgrave for whom the Calgary
Stampede Aggregate Trophy is named. Colt is a fourth generation champion
chuckwagon driver.

Reg had his outriding horse Pamjet named
to the Calgary Stampede’s Equine Outfit
of Excellence in 2013. He won the Calgary
Stampede Aggregate title and the Calgary
Stampede’s Safe Drive Award in 2011. Reg
has numerous show championships over
his career and in 2005 won the World title. He has made four trips to the GMC
Rangeland Derby’s final four, and forever shares the track record for the old
5/8’s Calgary Stampede track with Jerry Bremner. This veteran driver will be
making his 33rd and final appearance at the 2014 GMC Rangeland Derby.
Barry Hodgson

Barry placed in the top ten two times over
the 2013 GMC Rangeland Derby. Barry
qualified to run at the 2014 GMC Rangeland
derby through the Calgary Stampede 2013
aggregate standings. In an impressive 2012
driving season he won the WPCA Clean
Drive Award for taking just a single penalty second all season long. That year he
won the Colonial Days Fair in Lloydminster for the second time in his career,
and tied his career best in the World Standings placing 18th overall. He has
qualified for five career sudden death championship final heats.
Brian Laboucane

Safe Driver Award and was the Onion
Lake Champion. 2010 saw Brian qualified
for “Semi Final Saturday” at the Calgary
Stampede. He is a six–time CPCA Champion
Driver and a three–time CPCA High Point
Driver. He has qualified for the winner–
take–all championship final heat for the CPCA championship a record eight
times, has won close to eighty show championships on the CPCA circuit over his
career, and holds two CPCA track records. Brian is the father of fellow driver
Jamie Laboucane, and father–in–law to driver BJ Carey, and Outrider Mick Nolin.
Brian is making his 36th and final GMC Rangeland Derby appearance in 2014.

2014 will be John’s third consecutive
GMC Rangeland Derby. His horse Woody
was named left wheel of the Calgary
in 2013. John won top day money at the
Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races and
Ponoka Stampede in 2013. John placed a
very impressive eighth overall in his first Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland
Derby in 2012. That same year he qualified for his first winner-take-all final at
the Ponoka Stampede and placed a career best sixth in the World Standings. He
won the Herman Flad Memorial Award for the WPCA Most Improved Driver in
2011. Prior to driving chuckwagons, John competed for over 20 years in Saddle
Bronc Riding and Steer Wrestling.
Obrey Motowylo

Obrey placed in the top ten three times
over the 2013 GMC Rangeland Derby.
2014 will be Obrey’s sixth consecutive
year at the GMC Rangeland Derby; he has
twice qualified for the Rangeland Derby’s
“Semi Final Saturday”. Obrey was named
the Orville Strandquist rookie driver
for the Calgary stampede in 2009. In the WPCA in 2012 he was runner up to
the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede and qualified for the winner-takeall final at the Battle of the North in Dawson Creek, B.C. Obrey is a former
champion of the Ponoka Stampede, Strathmore Heritage Days Stampede, and
the Dewberry World Chuckwagon Races. Obrey has had three WPCA’s Equine
Outfit of Excellence awards.
Layne Bremner

In 2013 Layne won the top day money on
day ten of the 2013 Calgary Stampede
(excluding the final four heat). 2012
saw Layne win day money at the CPCA
Lloydminster Finals and place in the top ten
overall at five CPCA show championships.
Layne won the Calgary Stampede’s Orville
Strandquist Award for Top Rookie Driver in
2011. He started racing pony wagons at fifteen years old with the North West
Saskatchewan Pony Chuckwagon and Chariot Association, winning the overall
championship three times. Layne is a third generation chuckwagon competitor
whose mother, Mae Gorst, was the first full-time female outrider. Layne is also
the nephew and cousin of fellow drivers Gary Gorst and Logan Gorst.

Quaid Tournier, and father–in–law to CPCA driver Logan Gorst.
Rae Croteau Jr.

2014 will be Rae’s fourteenth consecutive
year at the GMC Rangeland Derby. He has
won nine major show championships in
his career. In 2013 he won top day money
one night at the Ponoka Stampede and
at Strathmore Heritage Days. Rae also
qualified for the semi-final round at the
2012 Ponoka Stampede. Rae qualified for the Calgary Stampede’s inaugural
“Semi Final Saturday” in 2009. Amersham, Dam and Abby are his three horses
that were named to the WPCA’s Equine Outfit of Excellence over the years. Rae
is a third generation chuckwagon driver and is the son and grandson of former
GMC Rangeland Derby finalists Bert Croteau and Ray Croteau.

all championship final heat. He was
co-champion of the CPCA’s Dewberry show in 2012, and posted additional
victories at the Little Pine First Nation, Frog Lake First Nation at Dewberry, and
the CPCA Prairie Racing Series. Ray is a six–time CPCA Champion driver, a

Kelly Sutherland

Kelly is a twelve-time Calgary Stampede
GMC Rangeland Derby champion, a twelvetime World Chuckwagon Champion, and a
seven-time Calgary Stampede Aggregate
winner. In 2013 Kelly’s horse “Spitfire”
was named the champion right wheeler
of the WPCA Equine Outfit of Excellence;
this is Kelly’s fifth horse honour. Kelly won the 2013 Strathmore Heritage Days
Championship. In 2012, Kelly’s Calgary Stampede tarp sold for the record high
price of $300,000. He was named the Calgary Stampede’s prestigious Guy
Weadick Award winner at the 2012 Centennial celebration. Kelly also captured
the 2012 North American Chuckwagon Championship.

First Nation, Meadow Lake & Turtleford Champion. As a rookie at the Calgary
Stampede in 2012, BJ cracked the top ten twice on nights three and six. He is
the son–in–law of CPCA driver Brian Laboucane and brother–in–law to CPCA
driver Jamie Laboucane.
Jordie Fike

Jordie placed in the top five one night
of the 2013 GMC Rangeland Derby. This
young driver made his rookie debut in
Calgary in 2011. Jordie was chosen to drive
the demonstration race at the 2012 Calgary
Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby. His talent
shone through at the very next meet as he
was runner-up for the 2012 Strathmore
Heritage Days Stampede. Jordie won the 2010 WPCA Top Rookie Driver Award
and became just the fourth driver in WPCA history to qualify for the Calgary
Stampede Rangeland Derby from his rookie year. Jordie is a fourth generation
wagon man and the grandson of former GMC Rangeland Derby finalist Ron
David, and older brother to 2012 World Champion Outrider Chad Fike.

Shane Nolin

Residence: Rapid View, Saskatchewan
2014 will be Shane’s twelfth consecutive
year at the GMC Rangeland Derby. He
finished 5th in the CPCA standings for 2013
it was his 12th consecutive top ten final
standing for the year. Shane ran penalty
free at the 2012 Calgary Stampede and
established a new track record at the CPCA
stop on the Little Pine First Nation. He has twice qualified for the winner–take–
all final heat for the CPCA Championship and is co–holder of the CPCA track
record at the Melfort Chuckwagon Championship. He received the CPCA Award
for Excellence in Corporate Involvement in 2004, was the CPCA’s Most Improved
Driver in 2002. Shane is the older brother of Vern Nolin and outrider Mick Nolin.
Wayne Knight

Wayne won the championship at the 2013
Frog Lake, Dewberry and Lloydminster
shows. He is a two–time CPCA Champion
Driver, a two–time CPCA High Point
Driver. Wayne has won twenty CPCA show
championships over his career, which
includes at least a single win in all but one of the current major CPCA shows,
and is the holder of five CPCA track records. Among his many titles, Wayne’s
most celebrated wins include the CPCA Lloydminster Finals four times and
three Wainwright Stampedes.
Devin Mitsuing

Devin qualified for the GMC Rangeland
Derby in 2013 but was injured just prior to
Calgary starting and Jim Knight took over
the reins of his outfit for him. He won the
CPCA’s St. Walburg stop in 2012 and for
the second consecutive year qualified for
the winner–take–all championship final heat for the CPCA Championship. He
was the 2011 CPCA Champion. Devin and is a two-time winner of the CPCA’s
Most Improved Driver Award he also drove the demonstration race at Calgary
Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby in 2011. Devin is the son of Ray Mitsuing.

Darcy Flad

2013 was Darcy’s best finish with the WPCA
since joining in 2009, earning him his 2014
Calgary Stampede qualification. 2011 Darcy
had his best finish at the GMC Rangeland
Derby. 2010 saw Darcy post ten top ten
runs including four runs that cracked the top five. Top ten overall finishes at
the Grande Prairie Stompede and the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede
were his best of the year. Darcy is the son of former Calgary Stampede GMC
Rangeland Derby Champion the late Herman Flad.

In 2013 Logan was asked to be the GMC
Rangeland Derby Demo Driver. In his first

money one night at the 2013 Medicine Hat
Exhibition & Stampede. In his first year
of competitive driving he won the CPCA High Point Rookie Driver Award and
captured his first career CPCA show championship in 2008. He outrode for two
Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby Championship Outfits, two Calgary
Stampede Aggregate winners, and is a four-time CPCA Champion Outrider.
Logan is the son of Gary Gorst, cousin of fellow competitor Layne Bremner,
and son-in-law of Luke Tournier.
Layne MacGillivray

Residence: Halkirk, Alberta
Layne placed in the top four six times over
the 2013 WPCA circuit. Layne won the 2011
Colonial Days Fair in Lloydminster and
received the prestigious WPCA Chuckwagon
Person of the Year Award in 2009. 2010 saw
Layne qualify for his first career WPCA
winner-take-all-championship final heat at Edmonton’s Chuckwagon Derby,
and he drove Grant Profit’s outfit to a first place run on the final night of
qualifying to get the Profit outfit into Edmonton’s winner-take-all final as well.
He outrode for two Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Championship outfits
and one Calgary Stampede Aggregate winner. Layne started his career with
the CPCA and won two CPCA show championships at the Saskatoon Exhibition
Derby and the Wainwright Stampede.

Roger Moore

In 2013 Roger won the WPCA Clean Drive
Award and the Most Improved Driver
Award. Also in 2013 he won both the
Ponoka Stampede and Colonial Days
Championships. Roger began his pro
career with the CPCA and in 2012 moved over to the WPCA. Roger placed
inside the top ten of the CPCA standing for the fourth consecutive year in
2011 thanks to wins at Little Pine First Nation, SK, for the second consecutive
year and the Lloydminster CPCA Finals bringing his career total to nine show
championships on the CPCA circuit.
Mike Vigen

In 2013 Mike’s horse “Prince” was named
champion outriding horse with the WPCA’s
Equine Outfit of Excellence and he was
the Battle of the Rockies Champion. He
also won top day money for a night at the
Grande Prairie Stampede & Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede in 2013. Mike
set a track record in 2011 at the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship and
holds the track record at the Rocky Mountain Turf Club Derby as well. Mike is a
four-time World Champion Outrider, is the father of fellow competitor Chanse
Vigen and son of three-time GMC Rangeland Derby Champion the late Ralph
Vigen.

the age of 14 and by the age of 16 he was driving a chuckwagon and has been
hooked ever since. Kris is a lead operator for Talisman Energy Inc. Kris enjoys
watching his son Kaeden play hockey and watch his wife Wendy and daughter
Blake compete in barrel racing.
