The winter season 2015/2016 promises to be a rich one in La
Plagne.
Rich in new elements with the new gondola link from Plagne
Montalbert, offering the opportunity to do some great skiing
through the forest to discover this charming village resort.
Rich in events with no less than 2 World Cup events in La Plagne
this winter: a Telemark World Cup event and a Freestyle World
Cup event. Rich in festivities with the renowned Red Pompom
Night on New Year’s Eve with a lightshow and fireworks, the
great Born to Be Show night skiing show put on by the Club des
Sports and the already key Subli’Cimes event that will close the
season with 2 weeks of entertainment on the mountain peaks.

Useful informations
Parking in the high altitude resorts is regulated. Make sure you obey the signs. Covered
car parks are at your disposal depending on the location.
Outdoor paying parking zones
You can purchase hourly, daily or weekly parking tickets from the ticket machines (credit cards
accepted) in Plagne Centre (place Perrière), Plagne Bellecôte (in front of the Info Point) and
Belle Plagne (lower car park).
Daily and weekly tickets can also be bought from Info Points in
Belle Plagne, Plagne Bellecôte and Plagne Centre. Parking tickets for Plagne Aime 2000 from the
machine only.
Make sure your ticket is clearly displayed behind your windscreen.

A park specially reserved for motor-homes
is located just below the arrival point of the
Télébus in Plagne Villages. This area is equipped with a « flot bleu » type terminal to
supply drinking water and to evacuate waste
water. It is also possible recharge your vehicle
with electricity by means of special terminals.

Car pound: vehicles in the pound can be recovered before 4.30pm during the week and before 6pm at the weekend. If
your car has been moved, contact the Police Municipale or, if it is closed, the Gendarmerie.
Snow clearance information
The resort services may have scheduled
snow clearance on the open air car parks.
Make sure you are aware of the information contained in the notices attached to the
front doors of accommodation buildings and
in the car parks themselves. These notices
will tell you which car parks are due to be
cleared of snow and where you may park
your vehicle in the meantime.
Snow shovels
Available in case you need to dig out your
car (deposit required). At the Plagne Centre
Tourist Office and at Information Points.
Before taking the road :
Check the weather forecast (at all the Information Points and in the Tourist Office or on the
electronic notice boards in your resort) so you are
aware of the road conditions when you set off.
During the French school holidays the «Partir à la
bonne heure» (Leave in good time) campaign will be
posted up in the Tourist Office and the Information Points from the Thursday. This will recommend
certain departure times in the light of the traffic
flow anticipated by the Direction Départementale
de l’Equipement de la Savoie (the departmental road
authority).
- In case of snow: consider clearing the snow from
your car throughout the week so it doesn’t get
too hard. Don’t forget to take the snow off the
roof of your car because if you brake sharply
it could fall onto your windscreen. It is important
that you have chains that fit your car or snow
tyres and that you put your chains on before
setting off and, if possible, remove them in the
areas set aside for the purpose (bends n°5, n°7,
n°9, n°10, n°11, n°12 and finally between the villages of
Macot and Aime).

Christmas in la Plagne
Yeti Race
December 12th, 2015
Demonstrate your strength and awaken your inner Yeti by competing in the
Yeti Race in La Plagne on December 12, 2015.
Teams of 2 take on the other competitors on a snow-covered course with
special tests along the way (orientation, precision, strength, agility and endurance).
There will be a choice of 2 courses this year: the classic 20 km course with 1
000 m elevation gain and an easier 10 km course with 500 m elevation gain.
Mutual aid is the key to this unique race.

Etoiles du Sport
December 13 - 17, 2015
La Plagne’s annual meeting of top French athletes based on the strong theme
of “Today’s champions encourage the champions of tomorrow”.
Enthusiasm, generosity, integrity and fraternity… since 2002, when the Etoiles
du Sport event was created by Benoît Eycken and Sébastien Foucras (Olympic aerials silver medallist in 1998), these values have been the basis of its
success. This annual rendezvous that has become a firm favourite with athletes aims to:
• Promote the values of sport,
• Share experiences,
• Encourage the best young hopefuls in French sport.

Decembre 22 - 25, 2015
Santa and his elves come to stay in La Plagne.
From the Sunday and throughout the week, kids and
parents are invited to share the magic of Christmas
with fun, surprises, shows and gifts in the altitude villages. The elves want you to write a message to Santa encouraging him to come quickly and they need
you to help make the decorations for the Christmas
tree, to play with them, to dance at the Reindeers’ Ball
and to take up the Christmas challenges.
Santa will, of course, be giving out his goodies and
posing for souvenir photos. On December 24th, while
Santa is getting ready for his grand tour, you can meet
the characters and animals from the living nativity. At
6pm, Christmas mass will be celebrated in the Espace
Pierre Leroux (Plagne Centre). On December 25th, before he heads home, Santa will be going round the
villages again giving out his last handfuls of candy. He
will invite everyone to Plagne Centre for a hot drink
while watching the Christmas torchlight descent and
fireworks.
Red Pompom Night
December 31st, 2015
For its 9th edition, La Plagne invites you to its now famous
New Year celebration: Red Pompom Night.
This year, once again, you are invited to Plagne Bellecôte for an event on the theme of light. From 10.30pm,
the fun will be starting at the bottom of the slopes with
a show that combines light effects and artists in the
crowd… to dance the night away on New Year’s Eve
with your family and friends.

Skicross world cup
January 15 - 16, 2016
La Plagne is once again hosting a Ski Cross World Cup event
on the Jean Luc Crétier slalom course in Plagne Centre. Both
the Men’s and Women’s qualifiers will be held on Friday 15th
January, with the finals on Saturday 16th.
How ski cross works: 4 skiers race down the course together
for 4 times the action! It comes under the category of freestyle skiing but is the freestyle discipline that has most in common with downhill racing. It requires technical skill as well
as agility on modules such as whoops (a series of waves),
tables (long jumps), steps up and down (jumps with higher
or lower landings) and raised turns. Anything can happen
on the way down and the race order can change right to the
finish line, so suspense and thrills are guaranteed!
Telemark world cup
January 26th, 2016
In keeping with its traditions, la Plagne will also host a Telemark World Cup event shortly after the Ski Cross event.
Telemark was the first real technique of downhill skiing using
“genuflexion” (bending the knee), invented in 1868.
The first event, the Dual parallel, will take place on Tuesday, 26th January on the Jean Luc Crétier slalom course in
Plagne Centre. The second, the Classic Sprint, will be held
on Mont Blanc piste in Montchavin les Coches.

February 25th, 2015
The 5th edition of the “Born to Be” show will be held on February 25th on the
Jean Luc Crétier slalom field in Plagne Centre.
It is a sound & light ski show put on by La Plagne’s Club des Sports together
with its partners.
A grand tombola will be held with the fabulous first prize of a car to be won!

With sealskins on your skis, climb ever higher to discover superb panoramas. The ESF La Plagne offers several formulas:
- Night touring: climb on skins and ski back down on a groomed blue run
with a head lamp (after the slopes close, head lamp provided). RATE: 30€.
- Day touring: Level: expert (class 4) reserved for very good skiers, from 1
to 5 people. RATE: 30€.
- Touring 1/2 day: Learn the technique of ski touring. Level: class 2 minimum
(blue runs). 3 people minimum.

Snowpark
The snowpark is aimed at all comers and is split into 2 parts the «small» and the «big» park.
- The small park consists of two levels of difficulty (beginners and initiation with bumps, boxes and small rails) divided between 2 areas – a «very easy » beginners’ area and an «easy » improvement area.
- The big park is divided into two areas: – One with bumps, boxes and rails spread between 2 areas, an «easy »
improvement area, a «difficult » experts’ area. – One with an easy boarder cross open to a larger number of people.
- Lastly, you can enjoy a chill zone with picnic tables, deck chairs and barbecues.
Located on a terrific slope, the snowpark’s obstacles are regularly checked and adjusted according to events and
snowfalls.
Being at the very heart of the la Plagne’s slopes the snowpark is well served by lifts.
Freestylepark.fr
Freestylepark.fr is a free video facility set up by the FFS and the ESF.
It is located in Plagne Bellecôte
on the half pipe and the small ski
jump. You identify yourself on a
terminal using your lift pass and
a video is shot using three cameras. You can watch your exploits
immediately on a screen located
at the bottom of the area. Then by
registering your mobile number
you can receive the video free
on your Smartphone by SMS link
with an offer to share it on facebook, twitter etc. All videos shot
can be viewed on the web site

Half Pipe
The half pipe in Plagne Bellecôte is 90 metres long and 4.5
metres high. A free video system means you can film your run
down the halfpipe and the jump
next to it.

day in an enclosed and heated space.

Walking trail
Mairiers path
A 10 km trail, there and back, through the forest towards Montalbert,
starting at the top of the bobsleigh run. The regularly prepared path is
shared with cross-country skiers and is easy and almost flat all the way.
Guide time there and back: around 2 hours.
A special shuttle bus (navette des Mairiers) has been laid on to take
you to this trail. From there, a little signpost will show you the way to the
marked trail. The bus makes just one return trip at 5 p.m. from the bottom
of the bob run or at 5.05 p.m. from the top.
On both walks, you return by the same path as the outbound walk. There
is no shuttle bus to bring you back from Plan Bois or Montalbert.
Cavard path
A forest trail to explore, starting from Plagne Bellecôte, the Pont de l’Arc
(at the top of the Bobsleigh run) or from plagne 1800.
The route includes a rather steep slope, especially when starting off from
the Pont de l’Arc.
A detour has been created at the hamlet of Cavard.
Estimated time for the round trip: about 2 hours.
Frasses path
A walk of 12 km there and back through the forest from plagne bellecôte
towards Montchavin (the Plan Bois area).
This regularly groomed path is shared with cross-country skiers and is not
difficult although it is hilly. Guide time, there and back - around 3 hours.
Dou du Praz path
At Dou du Praz, there is a sunny circuit of 5 kilometres in the midst of the ski area.
Along the trail, you will find picnic tables, a secure toboggan area for the children and an unforgettable view of Mont Blanc.
There are a number of ways of getting there from the high altitude resorts:
- from plagne centre
Set off from beside the biomass boiler house at the entrance to Plagne Centre. It
will take you about 45 minutes walking to get to the Dou du Praz plateau.
- from plagne villages
The path is at the top of the village (free shuttle buses from the télébus arrival
point), and the plateau is about 25 minutes’ walk.
- from plagne soleil
Set off from the car park opposite the Vancouver hotel apartment building and it
will take you 20 minutes to walk to the plateau.
- from plagne bellecôte
Walk up towards the ice rink. The path winds its way up a gentle slope through
the woods. You can reckon on about 45 minutes to reach the top.
Lovatière path
From Plagne Centre, a 4 km route which links Plagne Centre with Plagne 1800
and carries on to Plagne Aime 2000. From Plagne Centre, go down the biomass boiler houseat the entrance to the resort, then take the path through
the midst of delightful chalets down to Plagne 1800. At Plagne 1800, pick up
the « télésiège de 1800 » (chairlift) for a ride up through the forest of spruce,
larch and cembro pine. The path takes you to just below the Club Med. .
Setting off from Plagne Bellecôte – near the shuttle bus stop and luggage
depository, take the lift down to the outdoor car park. Cross the car park
and the road by the electricity transformer and a sign post will show you
the starting point.

Cross country run starts near the top of the Olympic Bobsleigh run which is about 4 km below the
altitude resorts of la Plagne.
This 10 km track through the forest takes you to the
Plagne Montalbert domain at 1350m altitude and
back and is also regularly maintained.

This activity involves walking along our pretty footpaths with the help of ski poles and
using a technique designed to develop the upper body and tone up your heart. Easy,
fun and a terrific way to get fit.
Run from Plagne Bellecôte takes you to Plan Bois
(alt 1800m) and back(12kmround trip). From Plan
bois you can go on to discover the Montchavin les
Coches cross country runs. We recommend that

Enjoy an outstanding panoramic view over the Alps from the glacier at
3000m ! Remember to take with you: Warm clothes, sunglasses, a woolly hat
and gloves, sun cream (high protection), some good shoes or boots, a pair
of binoculars and a camera. Remember to equip and protect your children
and to take some water with you! For young children, remember to find out
to what altitude they can climb. Please note! The weather can change very quickly
