Shaping A Better Tomorrow
This lunch-hour program is simple to run. Children walk on the
playground several times a week. Mileage Markers (yellow cards)
are checked each time a child completes a lap. When recess ends,
children return their cards to their personal files. For each five
miles (or eight kilometres) walked, the child is rewarded with a
Toe Token™ (brightly colored plastic foot) to put on a shoelace
or chain. Last year millions of children in 16,000 schools/agencies
logged nearly 30 million miles (48 million kilometres), thereby
reducing playground hassles, increasing learning readiness and
fighting obesity by building an active lifestyle.

We’ve Got You Covered
Our high-quality chains are sold at
the lowest prices. All of our chains
are brass beaded chains that are nickel plated or
epoxy coated. The chains and component parts
are made in the USA. The chains and paint meet
CPSIA lead requirements for children.
Less expensive chains are on the market, but
many rust, create skin discoloration at the wear
site and have a poorer quality appearance. They
are not as durable. In addition, all our chains are
guaranteed to fit our products. Chains may be
cut easily with a scissors to fit a smaller wrist or to
shorten for backpacks. We do not guarantee other
manufacturer’s chains will fit our products.
EPastel Chains
Five pastel color chains are available. We call
them pastel chains, but your young people will
call them cool or awesome! These chains match
the Pastel Toes (pp. 5 & 6) and balloons (p. 41).

The Challenge Series permits young people to participate in a one-half
to one mile run/walk or, on occasion, longer distances. Participation and
completion are the focus. The Challenge Series encourages young people
to set a goal of walking/running a specified distance. The excitement,
fun and joy of powerful peer support to train and perform the actual run/
walk, and the resulting satisfaction of a job well done are contagious and
everyone receives a special award.
Artwork CD
This CD contains the logo artwork for all 9 running events. These September
through May events go with the awards on page 14. The logo artwork permits you to download any of the logos with the names used in the Mileage
Club Challenge Series. The CD also provides the logos without the Challenge

Foliage Fun Run
The original Mileage Club Challenge Series (pp. 14-15) includes
9 runs and awards, as well as tons of helpful information on
how to conduct fun runs at schools, clubs, youth agencies and
in communities. Thirteen new supplemental fun runs based on
Monthly Motivators 2 awards are presented this year. These
awards are shown on the right and described on page 13.
These new fun runs are as creative and clever as the
original Challenge Series 1. The main difference between the
original Challenge Series 1 and Challenge Series 2 is that with
the latter you may purchase each new run separately. The
Challenge Series 2 CD allows you to personalize and print the
flyers and certificates in color or black and white.

1. A 14-page information booklet of fun run ideas for your run.
2. A CD containing:

• Logo artwork for the selected run with, or without, the run name
The flier and certificate can be personalized. Simply type the
information or name on the flier or certificate, then print. Purchase of the CD permits you to use our logos on T-Shirts, race banners or other fun run accessories.

they age. Flexibility tests usually include
sit-and-reach types of tests for low back

hip, ankle and neck range-of-motion and

by skinfold devices, bioelectrical
impedance and underwater weighing) and waist-to-hip ratio provide
information on whether a person is

of these tests are properly administered and interpreted to parents,

the tests help identify those individuals who may be at risk for metabolic
diseases such as Type II diabetes and

Muscle Strength & Endurance
Sometimes called “muscle fitness,” this component of fitness is, on occasion, neglected. Unfortunately,
poor upper body muscle development may put one in harm’s way. Two examples include trying
to pull oneself onto a boat after falling overboard or trying to climb out of a pool. Adequate “core”
fitness (middle third of the body) is also essential for enhanced sports performance, better posture and
less low-back pain. Good muscle fitness improves appearance, vigor and self-esteem. Two awards,
Abdominal (Core) & Upper Body Fitness are for muscle strength and endurance.
This award recognizes performance on pushups, bent-knee or straight-leg; pull-up; flexedarm hang and tests emphasizing maximum
