In life there is only one opportunity to make a good first impression and we want our students to have the confidence to make that favorable impression. Schools all over the country are doing this as a character development program with great success. We want to fill their “tool box of life” with things designed to make them more competitive in today’s high tech world. RECOGNITION/AWARDS 2007 Recipient of the Palmetto Silver Award The Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards Program was established by the Education Accountability Act (EAA) of 1998 Section 59 18 1100. The EAA was amended to include awards for closing the achievement gaps in 2008 (Act 282). As an important part of the education accountability system in South Carolina, the Awards program is designed to recognize and reward schools for attaining high levels of absolute performance, for attaining high rates of growth, and for making substantial progress in closing the achievement gap between disaggregated groups. SFI is a ”Leader in Me” School Through Franklin Covey’s program, we are creating the vision that will transform our school, staff, students, and community.
