What#is#the#Moray#Way#5#Day#Challenge#
The&Moray&Way&is&a&95&mile&circular&walk&made&up&of&the&Dava&Way&between&Forres&and&Grantown;on;Spey,&
the&Moray&Coastal&Trail&between&Forres&and&Garmouth,&and&the&Speyside&Way&between&Grantown;on;Spey&
and&Garmouth.&All&3&of&these&paths&are&part&of&Scotland’s&Great&Trails.&&
The&objective&of&this&event&is&to&walk&the&Moray&Way&in&5&days&during&the&festival&period&by&either&using&our&bus&
‘Park&and&Ride’&service&or&backpacking&between&campsites,&Hotels,&and&B&Bs.&Depending&on&which&options&you&
choose,&the&section&lengths&will&vary&from&14&to&26&miles&long.&&This&challenge&is&intended&for&experienced&long&
distance&walkers,&therefore&participants&should&ensure&that&they&are&capable&of&walking&the&distances&indicated&
at&an&average&speed&of&at&least&2.5mph,&for&5&consecutive&days.&This&walk&is&unguided&and&participants&are&
expected&to&be&able&to&follow&the&way;marked&path&without&a&guide,&and&at&their&own&risk.&The&paths&are&
mainly&on&wide&level&paths,&but&there&are&some&sections&on&public&roads&and&over&rough&ground&where&
additional&care&should&be&taken.&

Day&Challenge&participants.&The&passport&will&
contain&some&advisory&notes&and&enable&you&

cafés&and&restaurants&as&you&make&your&way&
around&the&Moray&Way.&You&can&even&get&your&
passport&stamped&up&at&the&end&of&each&
section&as&a&memento&of&the&challenge.&

The Event Options

5#Day#Challenge#G#Park#and#Ride#
Book&this&option&as&a&5&day&package&for&£60&(Non&LDWA&rate).&The&idea&is&very&simple&and&all&you&need&to&do&is&
park&your&car&at&the&end&of&each&section,&from&where&you&will&be&transported&to&the&start&of&the&walk.&Then&
walk&back&to&your&car&at&your&own&steady&pace&along&the&way&marked&paths.&You&will&be&issued&with&your&
walker’s&passport&at&the&registration&of&participants&at&Dunphail&on&the&first&day.&&See&appendix&A&for&the&‘Park&
and&Ride’&itinerary.&

This&single&section&option&is&intended&for&those&who&don’t&want&to&do&all&five&days&or&are&there&to&support&
participants&doing&the&full&5&days.&Book&the&sections&you&want&to&do&for&£15&a&day&(Non&LDWA&rate),&which&
includes&your&walker’s&passport.&See&appendix&A&for&the&‘Park&and&Ride’&itinerary.&

For&this&option&you&will&need&to&organise&and&book&your&own&accommodation&using&the&list&of&‘Places&to&Stay’&at&
annex&B&&&C,&or&by&making&other&overnight&arrangements.&Backpacking&participants&will&get&their&passport&and&
a&free&Moray&Way&Map&at&the&start&of&the&challenge.&&

We&are&offering&3&levels&of&support&for&backpackers,&as&follows:&
1.#Backpacker#Basic#Support#(Hotels&&&B&Bs)#
Book&this&option&if&you&are&organising&all&your&own&overnight&accommodation.&The&booking&fee&will&
only&cost&£20&(Non&LDWA&rate)&and&will&get&you&a&free&drinks&passport&and&event&support,&but&you&
would&be&expected&to&keep&to&the&itinerary&listed&at&appendix&C&in&order&to&benefit&from&this.&

2.#Backpacker#Basic#Support#+#Village#Hall#Hire#(Camping)&
Book&this&if&you&want&to&use&the&Edinkillie&Village&Hall&at&Dunphail&for&an&overnight&stay.&This&
arrangement&will&plug&the&34mile&campsite&gap&between&the&Grantown;on;Spey&and&the&Hopeman&
campsites.&&The&cost&per&person&to&hire&the&village&hall&is&£10,&therefore&the&booking&fee&for&this&option&
is&£30(Non&LDWA&rate).&&See&appendix&B&for&the&camper’s&itinerary.&

This&is&an&additional&service&for&backpackers&who&would&like&their&baggage&transferred&to&their&next&
overnight&stop.&The&booking&fee&will&be&£25&per&20kg&(Non&LDWA&rate)&and&will&cover&all&5&days.&This&
service&ties&in&with&the&main&‘Park&&&Ride’&transport&arrangements&therefore&backpackers&will&have&to&
