On February 13th, 2012, Savage Republic landed in Athens, Greece, on the day following the
National Memorandum vote. Traffic lights were out, ATMs were smashed, and many buildings had
been set ablaze. In the next 72 hours, we composed, recorded, and mixed "Varvakios". Joined by
the brilliant Blaine L. Reininger on violin and produced by Χρηστοs Καλλιμανηs, we embraced the
chaotic environment of the Varvakios marketplace and its surrounding atmosphere.
We would like to thank everyone who made this incredible experience possible. First and foremost,
Blaine and Χρηστοs. For a few days, they seamlessly became the fifth and sixth members of
Savage Republic. A special thank you to Eva of An Club, Nick Paleologos, Kostas Loukidis, Stella
Papandreopoulou, George Nikas, Dimitris Nikas, Petros Papadogiannis, Dimitris Antonopoulos
of Kanaliena.gr, Dimitris Tabakis of Closer, Yotis Posporeli @ The Self Preservation Society in
