Where the First Bombs Fell
on Pearl Harbor
On hallowed ground, Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor brings aviation
history to life in the heart of Pearl Harbor. It is one of the four Pearl Harbor
Historic Sites and the only aviation-themed destination at Pearl Harbor.
Located on Historic Ford Island in the hangars that withstood the Pearl Harbor
attack on December 7, 1941, the Museum focuses on the history of aviation
in the Pacific and pays tribute to the aviators who defended America’s freedom.
TripAdvisor® named it one of America’s Top 10 Aviation Attractions.
Housed in two battle-scarred hangars, bullet holes from the Attack are still visible in the windows of Hangar 79. The Museum’s 48
aircraft and exhibits include iconic aircraft from WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam including a P-40 Warhawk “Flying Tiger” and
B-17E “Swamp Ghost.” There are also themed exhibits: “MiG Alley” Korean War Exhibit, “Amelia Earhart in Hawaii” photo exhibit, a
working 1940’s Restoration Shop and the iconic Pan Am Exhibit.
The Museum offers visitors a themed Museum Store with models, books and movies, aviation-themed shirts,
and souvenirs from America’s Aviation Battlefield.
All this history can work up an appetite, and there is no better spot to dine than in the air-conditioned comfort
of the Museum’s WWII themed Laniākea Café.

New Exhibit
The Battleship Missouri Memorial has unveiled its newest exhibit titled,
The War that Changed the World. Located one level below the main deck,
the new display takes guests back in time to a 1940s living room with an
old-style radio and through a timeline of World War II, starting with the bombing
of Pearl Harbor and finishing with the war’s end onboard the USS Missouri
on September 2, 1945. Artifacts and images illustrate the war’s impact on
people’s lives and capture the sentiments of that time.
The Battleship Missouri Memorial is commemorating
the 70th anniversary of World War II’s end later this year
on September 2, 2015. www.ussmissouri.org

are immersed into the World War II era by entering through a room made to look like a pre-war living room
complete with wingback chair, vintage console radio, and President Roosevelt’s portrait on the wall as
“FLASH! Pearl Harbor Attacked!” interrupts normal radio programming.
