PARACHUTES: BEYOND THE BASICS • • • • • • Parachutes work well in Singles and Tandems Longer Leaders catch better than Short Leaders I usually tie my leaders at 18 and 24 feet Heavier Bait on the Shorter Leader Gently lay each Parachute in the water If the hair is tangled – bring it in & brush it out BASIC UMBRELLA GOOD BAITS THAT DO CATCH FISH VARIATIONS OF THE BASIC UMBRELLA WORK BETTER FOR ME Enhanced UMBRELLA 3 Shads attached directly to the umbrella frame 3 Shads offset with short 6-8 inch mono leaders This rig starts to look more like a small bait ball DOUBLE TROUBLE UMBRELLA 6 Shads attached directly to the inside of frame 6 Shads offset with short 6-8 inch mono leaders to the outside of frame This rig does look like a bait ball in the water DOUBLE TROUBLE BLING UMBRELLA 6 Shads attached directly to the inside of frame 6 Shads offset with short 6-8 inch mono leaders to the outside of frame This rig does look like a bait ball in the water Mylar Skirts on the outside shads adds some BLING! “BUNKER BRELLA” 6 Mylar Shads attached directly to the frame This imitates a small pod of bunker in the water This works very well in the Fall when Rock are gorging on Bunker that are migrating out of the rivers and into the Main Stem of the Bay KEEP IT CLEAN GUYS Johnson’s Baby Shampoo – Men’s Large Tooth Comb – Ladies Styling Brush • • • • • Put Together a Bait Cleaning Kit for your Boat Dirty Baits don’t catch Fish Set Up A Cleaning Schedule Port Rods Top of the Hour and Starboard Rods Bottom of the Hour Don’t be afraid to speed up a little when turning sharply STORING BAITS ON YOUR RODS • Add “Mounting Wire Ties” to your Rods at the lowest guide and above the fore grip. Optionally at the reel seat for more versatility. • This helps me get baits in the water as quickly as possible STORING BAITS ON YOUR RODS • Hang a Parachute from the wire tie at the fore grip • Wrap that leader around the side of the reel until the 3 way swivel is tight against the rod blank or preferably the fore grip. • Then continue wrapping the second leader around the opposite side of the reel • Hang that Parachute from the lowest guide using a mini bungee Good Luck This Fall
