restaurants, where it
pays to be seen.
Kaspar at
Kaspar’s, the new
The Savoy
restaurant at The
Savoy, serves the city’s finest seafood in a
Gatsby-esque setting, evoking memories of the
hotel’s 124-year-old history. The relaunch of The
Georgian at Harrods in July promises the best of
British fare, as well as high tea (the tea sourced
from the store’s private tea garden). Mr Chow, the
world’s original designer restaurant, reopened this
year to celebrate its 45th anniversary. The food’s
sublime, as is the people watching. Restaurateur
legend Keith McNally has brought Balthazar to
the capital, while the team behind Chabrot Bistrot
d’Amis, opened the doors to its second London
outpost, Chabrot Bistrot des Halles on Long
Lane, Smithfield, serving Southern French dishes
– bistro dining but not as you know it.

serving British food at the hands of Pierre
Gagnaire’s protégé, Anthony Garlando. East
Londoners are flocking to Beagle, a beautiful new
Shoreditch restaurant in three disused railway
arches, elegant alfresco dining is on the terrace of
15-floor Farringdon townhouse restaurant Bird of
Smithfield, while after-dark secrets are swapped
over award-winning cocktails at ‘the bar with no
name’, at 69 Colebrooke Row in Islington.
