STANTON IN PEAK GOLF SOCIETY The 2013 Stanton In The Peak golf Society season was concluded on the presentation evening at the Flying Childers in October where the winning team received the prestigious Flying Childers Golf Shield. The winning team were Kaz Mellor, Bob (Bandito) Simcock and James Bailey. They won by a convincing lead and although the weather again proved difficult this year, all agreed that it was great fun and all are looking forward to next year. The individual cup was won by Bob (Bandito) Simcock, who walked away easily with the competition. Bob has made great progress this year taking 10 strokes off his handicap, congratulations Bob. Anyone who would like to join the Stanton In The Peak Golf Society next year please contact either Alan Coppock (01629 636417) or Ian Avent (01629 636510) STANTON PARISH COUNCIL MATTHEW LOVELL Council welcomed Ian Mortimore to its meeting and co-opted him to the vacancy, however sadly we report another vacancy and we are therefore seeking another volunteer. With 5 councillors resident in Stanton in Peak and 1 in Stanton Lees, council would welcome an applicant from Warren Carr, Stanton Lees, Pilhough or Congreave to fill this post though all parishioners are eligible. Please contact the clerk or a councillor if you are interested. The meeting discussed proposed changes at Dale View Quarry and objected to the installation of a Wire Saw as it didn’t think long term noise pollution issues were adequately addressed in the application. A report was received from the public section of the Peak Park Planning Committee meeting where despite eloquent efforts from parishioners, the quarry owners have been given four months to complete the ROMP to allow Stanton Moor Quarry to be considered for working. Council is at a loss to understand how this is even being considered and is planning to host a public meeting and ask all parties to explain what is happening. More information on this will be published in the February edition of Snail. Council thanked all those who rallied to ensure the hit and run damage to the war memorial steps was repaired in time for Remembrance and is asking Highways what steps can be taken to stop vehicles parking across the monument as not only does this damage the tarmac edging but when a vehicle is parked on the church corner emergency vehicles would find it extremely difficult to get through. Please do not park in front of the War Memorial. Grit Bins. Council has 5 bins located through the parish, 2 in Stanton in Peak (on the lower village boundary and by the green), 2 in Stanton Lees (Chapel car park and Lees Road) and one at Pilhough crossroads. These bins are refilled by the Parish Council and if empty please contact Councillor Morris on 07715373666 who has volunteered to refill our bins. Any other bins in the parish and the mounds left on the roadside are the responsibility of Derbyshire County Council Highways and should be reported through their excellent online winter reporting service when stocks are depleted. Council discussed the finances and noted the revised deadline means that a decision on Precept will be taken at its January meeting in Stanton Lees Chapel at 7.30pm on 19th January 2014.
