Our experienced Tour Guides will share anecdotes and historical information on Stony Plain’s renowned murals and places of historic interest on a leisurely stroll or bus ride around town. Various tour options can accommodate your specific interests and time. Suggested Group size: Bus Tours: ca. 40 participants Walking Tours: 8 - 15 participants Note: Larger groups can be accommodated in simultaneous tours and their duration tailored to individual groups. Please advise us. Multi-Heritage Murals Walk: A leisurely stroll along Main Street to the heart of town will let you experience Stony Plain’s famous murals “up close and personal” while taking in stories and historical information of the town’s colourful past. Cost: $ 5.00*/person Group size: 8-15 participants Duration: approx. 60 - 90 min. Multi-Heritage Murals Bus or Combo (Bus/Walk) Tour: Our knowledgeable tour guides will direct your bus around town for you to experience Stony Plain’s renowned murals while being entertained with anecdotes and local history tidbits. Take in centrally located murals on a stroll of Stony Plain’s pretty downtown. We can arrange for a visit to the local Potter’s Guild or other attractions. Cost: $ 5.00*/person Duration: 45 – 90 min. depending on chosen activities. Note: No extra charge for added attractions! We are happy to accommodate your specific needs & individual interests! Multi-Heritage Kit Rental Information Kit Rental is based on a 2-week loan period. Individual Kit rental rate: $ 30.00* Annual subscription rate of $ 150.00* provides the option of multiple loans. Refundable Damage deposit of $ 100.00 applies to all loans. Pre-booking required. Single-use rental available with flexible price range. Good News! Publications: Alberta Storytellers Bring History to Life A unique blend of life experiences and humorous stories by local authors provides a delightful read which can also be used as a programming resource for seniors and educational programming. Many Faces One Heart – Stories of Stony Plain A heart-warming collection of stories that provides a glimpse of the colourful characters and rich cultural heritage of the Stony Plain community! Treasures of the Heart – A Generation Bridge Local authors share personal memories bridging generations. The Multicultural Heritage Centre is a living museum! Check out current events, exhibit themes and programs on our website - or come and visit! Museum exhibits change quarterly and varied Programs and Events are suited to all ages and interests. Combine a Murals Walk or Bus Tour with our popular “Soup Lunch”: a bowl of soup, home-made bread and delicious pie - all made from scratch on a daily basis, and a beverage. Cost: $ 17.00*/person Duration (incl. Lunch): Min. 2 hrs Note: For an extra $ 3.00: Combine a half sandwich with a smaller bowl of soup plus delicious pie and beverage. Multi-Heritage Pie Time Tour: Combine a Heritage Tour with a “Slice of Heaven”(pie) from the Homesteader’s Kitchen, and a beverage. Cost: $13.00*/person Note: New Tour options are being explored on a consistent basis as we strive to provide personalized service with added attractions. Multi-Heritage Programs Fun-With-History, Multi-Heritage Kit & Reminiscence Programs: Let us take you on a journey through time with games and crafts, trying your hand at cranking the old-fashioned ice-cream maker or baking in the wood stove. Then enjoy the fruits of your labour! Our programs provide opportunities for social interaction and sharing stories under the guidance of a trained facilitator who uses authentic artifacts from our themed, awardwinning Multi-Heritage Kits to trigger memories. Cost: $10.00*/ person Group Size: 10 - max. 20 participants Location: Multicultural Heritage Centre - or your own location. Note: This a specialized programs to be booked well in advance. Fun-With-History & Multi-Kit Luncheon Program: Combine a Fun-With-History or Multi-Kit Program with our “Soup Lunch” in the Homesteader’s Kitchen, renowned for its home-cooked meals! The popular “Soup Lunch” provides a wholesome lunch of a large bowl of soup, home-made bread and delicious pie – all made from scratch on a daily basis, combined with a non-alcoholic beverage. Cost: $20.00*/person Group size: 8 - 20 participants Location: Multicultural Heritage Centre Note: For an extra $ 3.00: Combine a half sandwich with a smaller bowl of soup plus the delicious pie and beverage Inter-Generational Program: Alberta Storytellers Bring History to Life Calling on active seniors and aboriginal Elders who enjoy sharing their stories, memories and wisdom with children! This inter-generational and interactive program connects generations and provides a unique opportunity to develop respect and cross-cultural understanding. Under the direction of a facilitator, seniors and/or aboriginal Elders share experiences and memories with the younger generation, triggered by artifacts from our award-winning themed Multi-Heritage Kits. Note: This educational program is booked through School Programming. Hats Off Program & Kit: This program combines fun with education and ethnic food, and addresses the importance of tolerance and respect for different personalities, perspectives, lifestyles, cultures and traditions, with a focus on cultural sensitivities and societal implications of headwear. Cost: $ 20.00*/person Group size: Minimum 10-max 20 participants Location: Multicultural Heritage Centre or your facility. Note: This program can be booked as an educational program also. Reminiscence Program: Suitable for clients with social, physical and/or cognitive impairment or small groups with special programming requirements. A Reminiscence Programmer applies the powerful therapeutic effect of our themed Multi-Kits to trigger memories, enhancing the participants’ physical and mental well-being. Cost: approximately $ 25.00 (dependent on individual circumstances) Group size: Suggested 6 - 10 participants Location: Multicultural Heritage Centre or your facility Note: This a specialized program to be booked well in advance. Booking Information for Tours & Programs Multi-Heritage Tours/Programs to be booked in advance and paid at time of tour/program. • Cancellation: 48 hours. • Dining areas are wheelchair accessible. • Prices are subject to change • Prices include GST and Gratuity • Walking Tours: Remember good footwear and sun/insect protection Multi-Heritage Kits Multi-Heritage / Reminiscence Kits Reminiscing provides the means for sharing of stories and experiences in engaging activities and is not limited to a certain age or environment. Our award-winning Multi-Heritage Kits are used for recreational or therapeutic purposes in facilitated programs, providing the basis for social interaction. Guidelines and activity suggestions ensure appropriate use of the Kits, and In-services or workshops for Recreation therapists can be arranged.
