US-version. Beginning with 2012 we can offer you all the US-kits in
this catalogue from our stock in the south of Germany in very
attractive minimum order quantities.
Of course you can still order our German kits, but as experimental kits
are no easy going products for safety reasons and regulations, we are
recommending that you first check and decide carefully which
experimental kits will be suitable for you and your market.
We are proud to offer you a variety of possibilities how to order

Buy the German kit and take care of the translation and insertion of
the manual yourself.
Buy the US kit and if necessary take care of the translation and
insertion of the manual in your language yourself.
Order the completely localized experimental kit directly at KOSMOS.
We will provide you with the original open data, you will translate all
text into your language and send the files back to us. We produce the
complete localized kit for you.
Order only the contents of the experimental kit and create and

Some general comments about Safety and WARNINGS
We at KOSMOS publishing house are appreciating your interest in our
product range of experimental kits and your wish to distribute our kits
in your market very much.
Experimental kits are commercial products which need additional
attention for safety reasons. You take responsibility for an interesting
product range with a high potential, but it is important for KOSMOS
to know that our partners are taking this responsibility seriously.
Therefore some words on safety and warnings at this point. In the
European Union experimental kits fall under the EU Toy directive
2009/48/EC (Council Directive on the Safety of Toys). This extensive
directive controls the safety requirements for all toys which are sold in
the European Union.
In order to reach conformity with this directive, KOSMOS experimental kits are tested in accordance with different guidelines and
safety norms. A well known norm is the EN 71. This norm regulates
in different parts safety requirements, gives guidelines and testing
methods, defines limiting values – all in order to guarantee that toys
in the European Union are safe for children and allowed to be sold in
all European countries.
A KOSMOS experimental kit self-evidently has to meet the EN 71, but
there are several other norms like ROHS (2002/95/EC - Restriction of
Hazardous Substances Directive) which are paid attention to in order
to produce safe experimental kits and fulfill the Toy Safety Directive.
The safety requirements refer to
• contents and materials
• packaging and labeling (for example of chemicals)
• maximum values of certain materials and substances
• necessary warnings in the manual
• warnings on boxes and packaging
All these topics are checked conscientiously for a KOSMOS experimental kit and if necessary tested by a third party testing laboratory.
Therefore KOSMOS publishing house is in continuously contact with
the Government and various testing institutions.
KOSMOS ensures the compliance with all EU safety directives only
for the German version of the experimental kit, but not for foreign
language versions. If the language of the kit changes, it is obligatory
to translate the manual completely and adapt all warnings on the box
and inside the experimental kit.

This results in the following consequences for you as license partner or
distributor:
• The complete manual has to be translated. Please pay attention
that warning sentences are often standardized and have to be
transferred into your language following the official toy directive
wording.
• The warnings on boxes need to be translated to your language.
You have to follow the official requirements in your country. Of
course the optimum would be a completely localised box.
• Warnings on individual packagings must be translated too.
KOSMOS publishing house has to transfer the responsibility for all
these safety requirements to you. There is no possibility for KOSMOS
publishing house to arrange for local safety requirements and directives in your country. Of course KOSMOS publishing house will provide
existing test certificates of the German experimental kits to you.
As a consequence you are responsible for the CE -certificates, for
official approvals for the distribution of experimental kits from the
Government if needed and for the correct translation of all textual
parts.
Hopefully you are not put off by these requirements from your wish
to distribute KOSMOS experimental kits in your market. KOSMOS
publishing house will support you the best possible with expert advice
and testing certificates.
