SUMMER
COHUTTA SPRINGS
YOUTH CAMP
2015
FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear Parents & Grandparents:
As we gear up for another wonderful summer at Cohutta Springs, you and
your children are front and center in our minds! We are thinking of you
when we recruit and hire the finest collegiate staff to be found, reassess our
equipment for safety, and prayerfully plan our evening programs to be fun,
interesting, motivating, and most of all, spiritually refreshing!
Our goal is to provide high-energy, life-changing programs for young people
ages 7-18 and for families at our popular Family Camps. We teach the Gospel
while giving unforgettable experiences that reinforce how living a devoted
life for Christ is exciting and fun!
Our desire for each young person is for them to:
• Accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior
• Grow in their faith and Christian character development
• Establish the priorities of prayer, Bible study, and valuing church life
• Devote their lives in service to our Lord Jesus at home and abroad
The Georgia-Cumberland Conference’s commitment to camp operations
over the past 50 years has produced one of the finest youth camps to be
found!
If you’re looking for a spiritual boost and character reinforcement for your
children, we are here for you! We look forward to serving up to 1,600 again this
summer. Please contact us if you have questions or if we can help in any way.
For Christ and Campers,

MEDICAL HELP & SAFETY
Cohutta Springs is proud of its safety record. We meet
the requirements of American Camp Association
(ACA) for medical supervision. A nurse is available
at the camp clinic 24 hours a day. Important: Your
health history form (which you will receive with your
registration confirmation) must be completed by the
camper’s parent/guardian no more than 7 days prior to
camp. This form must be brought to Camper Check-In
on Sunday. Please Note: Camper registration includes
limited accident insurance. Health insurance remains
the family’s responsibility, i.e. flu, earaches, and other
personal health issues.
FOOD ALLERGIES
We want all kids to be able to come to camp, regardless
of special dietary needs. Go to our website at cs-yc.com,
click Parents, then Medical Help & Safety, to learn how
we can partner together to meet dietary needs.
FRIENDS CAN STAY TOGETHER, IF...
you sign up for the same attraction. Campers are
assigned to cabins according to their attraction and on
a “first come, first serve” basis. This will enable counselor
supervision at all times throughout the week and will
enhance your check-in experience on Sunday. When
registering online, register on the same day for the
same attraction to insure availability. If mailing your
applications, mail them to the office in one envelope.

spent will be returned to them at week’s end along
with a detailed account of their expenditures.
CAMPER CHECK-IN & PICK-UP*

of exercise and healthy food (delicious and complete
vegetarian meals) all combine to provide our campers
the seven healthiest days to be found anywhere!
CAMPERSHIP FUND
Because “kids come first” at Cohutta Springs Youth
Camp, we believe that no child should be turned away
due to finances. Our Campership Fund, made possible
through the generosity of friends of Cohutta Springs,
is available to any family with financial need. Thank
you for investing in young people. For those seeking
Campership Fund assistance, print the form from the
website or call 706-602-7346 to apply early as funds are
limited. Your contributions are tax deductible.
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND
Cohutta Springs Youth Camp is designating funds
for a new Fit for Life Center. We are excited about
developing a healthy youth culture through this
new facility. Thank you for including this important
initiative in your giving plan. Your contributions are tax
deductible.
STAFF SELECTION
Great camps start with the best staff. We never hire
on a whim or perception, only with unquestioning
recommendations of highly credible people who
know them well. Staff employment requires a formal
application, three recommendation forms and
interview with the camp director. A background check
is run on each person hired.
25
REGISTRATION
Bank Rate did a national study on summer camps and discovered some information: Not for profit camps charge
between $400-$2,000 per week. Cohutta Springs Youth Camp tries to balance between keeping fees low and
covering expenses, while offering the best quality Christian program. Fortunately, the Seventh-day Adventist
Church subsidizes our operation because positive Christian experiences for young people is high priority. Cohutta
Springs is not just for rich kids, but as far as possible, for all kids. While we have to raise fees each year to keep up
with rising costs, Cohutta Springs Youth Camp is—without question—an incredible value!

Birthdate ____________________________
The person listed above has permission to participate in all camp activities unless otherwise noted. The camper will turn in all
medications to the camp nurse at Camper Check-In and will take any and all prescribed medications sent to camp by the parent/
guardian. I give permission to the physician selected by the camp to examine, order any X-ray, routine tests, and treatments related
to the health of my child for both routine health care and in emergency situations. If I cannot be reached in an emergency, I give
permission to the physician to hospitalize, secure proper treatment for, and order injection, anesthetic, medical or surgical treatment

and these providers may talk to attending camp staff about the child’s health status. I hereby authorize any hospital or physician, or any
other person who has attended or examined said minor to furnish the camp and camps’ insurance company or its representative any

Any camp activity has inherent risks and may result in serious injury or death.
When you participate, you are responsible for taking the time to learn safe techniques and the proper use and limitations of each
piece of equipment.
These activities are not a requirement and you may refuse to engage in any part of the activity if you feel uncomfortable.
I realize that camp activities can be high-risk and potentially dangerous. I, therefore, knowingly accept and agree to release Cohutta
Springs Youth Camp and its employees, agents and the Georgia-Cumberland Conference of Seventh-day Adventists from
liability in case of serious injury or death at said organization’s facility and/or at RAD Camp itinerary locations.
I do support and agree to abide by all camp regulations and policies and to uphold its objectives.

IMPORTANT
In planning for the camping season, we have endeavored to create as safe an environment and activities as possible, while still allowing
for campers to experience adventure and to be challenged physically. In the event a camper were to need medical attention, the
accompanying consent to medical treatment will be used. It must be completed and signed before we can accept the application.
When this application has been processed, the camper will receive a confirmation/receipt.
Please Note: Camper registration includes limited accident insurance. Health insurance remains the family’s responsibility,
i.e. flu, earaches, and other personal health issues.
