The new library grand opening
was incredible!! The head of all
North Tyneside schools was
there to cut the ribbon for the
grand opening. She commented
on it being the best library on
the North Tyneside Schools
ONE
One if the main features of the
grand opening was “ The Story
Chair.” The story chair is special because it expands children’s
imagination. It looks like it belongs in a story book. Most of
the adults that helped with this
magnificent story chair were
there to see it for the first time
and listen to the story of how
the chair was created and how it
came to Marine Park First
School.
May 2013
and was brought back to life.
At the opening there was a giant
curtain hanging over the chair to
keep it a secret. The room was
decorated with same designs as
the story chair and everything
looked amazing. I feel very proud
of our new library and a big thank
you to Penny who told us of the Penny pictured with Gill Alexandra and
story chair and was a big part of
School Councillors
the designing it. It looks amazing.
The story is about an old chair
that lived in a basement for a
long time and how no-one read
any stories until one day the
chair was brought to our school

ISSUE
Volume 1, Issue 1
Breaking news happened during the 2013 Easter
Holidays. My grandma bought a little Shiatsu puppy,
he is called Finn and he now lives with her. He was
adopted from Kingston Park on the 5th April. Finn is
very, very cute. We nicknamed him Fur ball, because
he has lots and lots of fur. He is black and white and
is only 10 weeks old. Charlie, my grandma’s other
dog, won’t let Finn the fur ball into his dog bed as he
is a bit jealous.
Sometimes when I go to my grandma’s house for
Sunday dinner, we take Finn and Charlie for a walk.
Finn is so small, when he runs, both his back feet
jump together. Charlie is a much bigger dog and he
likes playing with a big stick. He teases Finn as Finn
is too small to put his mouth around the stick to pick
it up. This is all very funny, and we all laugh!
His arrival is great news and we all welcome Finn the
puppy to our family.

During the Easter holidays, I went
trapezing and did a Bev Mermaid! I
hung upside down, sat down on the
trapeze, lay down in the cocoon,
jogged on the spot, twirled with the
hula hoops, danced with the music,
landed on the soft mat and had a
nice instructor! I was scared to try
this new activity, but I
did it and I LOVED it!

MY TRIP TO THE MAKING OF HARRY POTTER
On the 31st March my brother, my grandparents and I went to the
making of Harry Potter, in London. When we got there, we went to the
Great Hall. We saw lots of costumes from the films. My favourite
costume was Professor Trelawney’s costume because it looked like a
costume that was worn by Emma Thompson in the Harry Potter Films.
Then we went to the Creature Shop, I did not like the model of Aragog
because it looked like a real giant spider, but I did like the model of
Buckbeak Hippogriff (half horse half eagle.)
After that we went to Diagon Alley. My favourite shop was Weasley’s
Wizard Wheezes, a wizarding joke shop owned by Fred and George
Weasly. Finally we entered a room with a massive model of Hogwarts.
The part of the model liked best was the Gryffindor common room.
During the tour I drank some Butterbeer. It tasted like liquid toffee
with cream on top. It warmed me up and was very nice.
I really enjoyed the day and would give the making of Harry Potter
studio tour 5 stars! Even if you’re not a fan of Harry Potter, I think you
should go because it is very interesting.

Amazing Activities for
kids at the New Whitley Bay Library
In the Easter holidays a brand new Library opened in the
heart of Whitley Bay. We went along to take a look and find
out all about the new Library. Inside we met Victoria Taylor,
a team leader. She told us that although she was sad to
leave the old library but happy to be in the new Library with
amazing top floor views of Whitley Bay.
Victoria also told us about the brilliant things for children to
do. There are 5 new computers where children can do
homework or research. There are 50% more children’s
books, and it has activities for everyone to take part in. We
asked Victoria about DVDs in the library. She said that they
have lots of DVDs. My favourite DVD was Tangled!
Finally Victoria told us about school trips to the new
Library. She explained that many school year groups
visit the Library to learn how to find a book and take part
in special learning activities.
We hope that everyone at Marine Park First School can
enjoy everything it has got to offer.
Do you like Dragons and Knights?
Then ask your family to take you to Alnwick Castle. It’s
a great day out. You can learn how to be a knight at the
Knights Quest, you can dress up as a knight or a princess. Learn to sword fight, you can make things, and
then solve the puzzles to beat the dragons at The
Dragons Quest. Alnwick Castle is sometimes Hogwarts
and there are times when you can see Harry Potter and
Hagrid. There are always wizards that teach you how to
fly on a broomstick. You may see a big dragon but don’t
be scared.
There is a statue of a real knight called Harry Hotspur
who used to live there. You can walk around inside the
castle and see some of the state room where the Duke
lives and did you know that he is a cousin of The Queen.
At the end of your visit you can go to the shop
and buy things, I bought a key ring.

GALLOWAY GETWAY
Solway View Camping & Caravan Site. A travel Report
by Lauren Wallace, 2 East.
The Journey
You will have to get to the campsite in a car. It will take you about 3
hours from Whitley Bay.
At the Campsite
There are lots of things you can do at the campsite, like go to the swing
park, go to the beach and most of all go to see the cute baby lambs.
In The Wigwam
We stayed in a wigwam. If you stay in a wigwam you will have to bring a
sleeping bag and sleep on a sofa bed. If you are having a barbeque and it
starts to rain there is a cooking house to cook in. If you need to wash
your dishes, there is a washing up sink in the cooking house.
The Park
There is a swing park at the campsite. The wigwams are right next to the
park. The park has a rope swing and a really fast slide and a pole to hold on
onto and whizz down to the ground.

The castle is a ruin. It is 500 Years old. The best thing about the castle
is that you can climb right to the very top and see the beautiful view.
There is a kids quiz to teach you things about the castle.
Cream O Galloway
On Saturday 13th April ,I went with my two
brothers to Sandcastles Water Park in Blackpool
to see some of the most amazing slides in Britain.
There were family rides for everyone or white
knuckle slides where you needed to be aged 8
years + and have a Hyperzone wrist band.
First stop was the Master Blaster, the world’s
longest roller coaster water slide. We shot
down the pipes and a water canon forced us
back up before rocketing us down to the finish!!!
Then it was onto the scariest ride of the lot! My
brother, Matthew had a look of horror as we
plummeted down the sheer drop!
Cream O Galloway is the farm where they make ice-cream. Outside
there is big adventure play area. We went to an ice cream tasting. We
tasted 10 different flavours! The mint choc chip wasn’t green, it was
white! My favourite was the redcurrant sorbet.
Then
we
went straight
to the Aztec
Falls where
we were whooshed down a pitch black pipe for
about 30 seconds. As we began to see faintly,
we were then swirled around a pipe down to the
end.
After 4 and a half hours we were all wrinkly,
and ready for some chips! We went on the
Master Blaster one last time before going home.
What a SPLASHING DAY! Make sure you tell your
Mum or Dad to take you!

An interview
Suey one of the most rarest Moshi’s alive has
been spotted in the land of humans. We have
no idea on how he got here but star sighters
say they have seen funny ships heading towards earth. One sighter said that she saw a
funny face peering down at her. Do you think
that Suey and these sort of spaceships might
be linked? We will tell you what happened
right from the start.
It was late at night. Everything was pitch
black, apart from this very faint light walking
past houses, waking every one up. Every single
person looked out of their windows. No one
could see what was making the light, but there
was a shadow in the middle of the light and a
little girl named Miranda decided to follow the
strange thing.
The strange thing led Miranda to a field.
Miranda always had a pair of binoculars with
her and looked through them and saw what
was making the light. It was Suey. She couldn’t
believe her eyes. This was what she had
dreamed for, to see a real life moshling!
Suey looked at Miranda and leaped at her. He
was scolding hot and burned Miranda’s arm.
She has been sent to hospital. We need to call
0918855073 so we can send him
back to the Land of Moshi.

How are lambs born ?
Sheep have their lambs in late winter or early spring as they also need to eat
lots of fresh grass so that they can make milk for their lambs. The farmer will
take the ewe, or the mother sheep, into a barn to give birth. They can have up
to 4 lambs at a time but mostly have one or two. Baby lambs will be looking
for food from their mother when they are only 20 minutes old and they can
quickly stand on their own. When they are a little older
The lambs go out into the field with there mother. They don’t get lost as the
mother recognises smell and bleating cry.
