WELCOME
Welcome and thank you for supporting the 2013 Brick Awards. The
Brick Manufacturers are aware that the projects are the result of a
partnership between the brick maker, contractor and designer. All
parties are represented here tonight. We hope you will all enjoy the
evening and will join us in celebrating the excellent entries.
It is true that brick is currently undergoing a revival.
Architects are appreciating the design freedom and
appearance given by brick, along with its sustainable
and durable characteristics.
The evening is only possible with the selfless work of the judging panel,
under the leadership of Richard Lavington. We are also grateful for the
support of our members and the sponsors supporting the industry and
tonight’s quality Awards Night. The 2013 entries have surpassed the
previous years in which reflects the increasing importance of the BDA
Awards. We would like to thank our sponsors and their commitment to
our industry and without whom this evening would not be possible.

CHARITY & RAFFLE
Construction Youth Trust is a registered charity
working with disadvantaged young people (14
– 30), to help them access opportunities in the
construction industry at both trade and professional
level.
The Trust works with young people from all walks
of life whose journey to work can be challenging,
owing to their financial circumstances, lack of
awareness of opportunities, low self-esteem, gender
or ethnicity. The Trust supports young people to get
real work experience and qualifications, find hidden
confidence, financially support themselves and their
families, and lift themselves out of social exclusion
and poverty.
Many of the young people the Trust works with have
been born into poverty and disadvantage and they
lack the support and role models which are so vital
during childhood. The Trust’s mission is to improve
the life chances of these young people by exposing
them to the wealth of opportunity construction has
to offer, enabling them to reach their full potential.
In doing so, we help industry to reach out to hidden
talent to create a construction industry which better
reflects 21st century Britain.
PRIZES
This year we will be having a silent auction. Bidding pads / tablets/
devices are placed on each table. Electronic bids are made via the
handsets, and can be placed throughout the night via the AV screen.
The person that has placed the last bid at the closing time is the
winner, happy bidding!
