Tack Room Talk
By Erin Feiner
For this Tack Room Talk, we will be talking about Reed Kessler and her horse Cylana.
Reed Kessler is a show jumper (not dressage for the dressage people) She was born July 9 and
is 21 years old, she 5,5 ft. tall.
Reed Kessler just at 18 years old qualified for the 2012 London Olympics! Then she was
crowned the youngest rider to qualify for the Olympics ever. Kessler trained hard with her
godparents Katie and Henri Prudent. During September 2013 Kessler moved to Germany to
work with Marcus Ehning, and she moved to his home base in Broken, Germany. One of her
horse’s names is Cylana, Cylana is a 13-year-old horse, and she is a chestnut Belgian
Warmblood, owned by Reed Kessler.
Kessler also owns 5 more horses 4 of them are Warmbloods and one Irish sport horse.
Also for all the horse lovers reading this I'm writing a book in the saddle club gazette
called "My First Ride" please read it, it's about my dramatic story of a horse that changed my
life forever!

should make sure they know whom they are riding and
what classes they are doing, lets win some ribbons!
Q: What are some exercises I can do to help loosen my horse?
A: I’ve come up with two exercises for you and your horse.
First, the “What’s that right there? Boop!” trick. I’m sure
many of your parents have done this to you. Basically, you
take a piece of carrot and put it near your horse’s chest.
When your horse flexes his poll and reaches down for it, give
the horse the carrot, that’s the boop. Second, “The carrot
stretch,” to do this, take a piece of carrot and put it near your
horses shoulder. Let the horse bend around to get it and then
give it to the horse.
Q: What are some exercises I can do to help loosen my
human?
A: Well, I’m sure that most of you have seen Legally Blonde,
and if you have you know the “Bend and Snap” maneuver.
Basically, do this slowly…very slowly. Then there’s the “Nope.
I’m not a bird maneuver.” This is for your arms. While riding
on a lunge, take your arms and roll them around and do arm
stretches imitating non-existent human-like birds. You can
also do “Frogs’ legs” on the lunge. Take your feet out of your
stirrups and lift your calves and thighs off the saddle.
Q: What do I do if my unicorn gets SHMD (super hyper
magic disorder)
A: You and your unicorn, geez. This is very dangerous
disease; I would not be surprised if your room has not been
crowded with sparkles and rainbows. What you need to do is
apply temporary-no-magic crème to its horn and wrap it in
magic-protecting gauze. If the disease continues for more
than twelve hours, seek a doctor’s help immediately.
Rebel: The Story of a True Heart

“He’s not breathing,” the vet said. The vet
stuck his finger in the colt’s nostrils and
tried to clear the air passage out. Tom ran
to get a bucket of water to pour over the
colt’s head.
Still the colt was not
breathing.
The vet shook the colt and
poured more water on him. Finally the colt
took his first breath. The moment he started
breathing he tried standing up. He stood up
on his first try. His instincts told him to suck
n his dam. The colt was big for his age. His
coat was black as coal. On his forehead was
a star in the shape of an umbrella.
“Strong colt, look at the way he holds
himself,” Tom said. He went over to pet the
colt, but he quickly moved away from Toms
touch and farted

I’m telling you, the worst thing about riding in a
trailer is having to sit there forever, and ever and just
stand there. Doing absolutely nothing. Honestly, it’s
boring. So, I’ve started a new trend. Using my StickOn-Opposable-Thumbs, I’ve been reading. Here are
my top favorite books/ magazines to read!
1. The Saddle Club Gazette
2. The Equine Journal
3. Dressage Today
4. The Canterwood Crest series by Jessica
Burkhart
5. Paint the Wind by Pam Monoz Ryan
6. Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry
7. Black Beauty by Anna Sewell
8. The Midnight Rider by Joan Hiatt Harlow
9. The Horse Diaries series
10. Sidelines
For those of you who want to read a non -horse
related book, try Watership Down, by Richard
Adams. It’s a really good classic novel following the
adventure of a band of rabbits.

This month we will be talking about the famous
horse Trigger. Triggers real name was Golden Cloud.
This Palomino started out as a horse actor in The
Adventures of Robin Hood, then he was chosen to
become a horse actor in a series of cowboy films. During
the first film it was decided that his name should be
Trigger because of his great speed. During the cowboy
films, Trigger’s partner or cowboy was Roy Rogers.
After there third film Roy decided to buy Trigger.
Trigger knew over 60 trucks; he could walk over 150
steps on his hind legs, and stamp his hoof to count. This
horse was truly a legend.

Happy Easter every pony! So, the horses here at
CHF decided to have an Easter egg hunt! Wizzy
and Didi planned it. I heard that there would be a
big Easter bunny. Sounds so cool! Oh, I almost
forgot…remember that rumor, yes, the one with
Greta and Tate. Well, here’s more: the two horses
are planning something secret.
It involves
humans…and Saddle club, I don’t know anymore.
So, I heard around the stable that the show circuit
would begin in this May. Wow, it’s already the start
of spring! So, for April fool’s day (pinkie pie day),
Ricky played a joke on his pasture buddy Ray. So
while Ray was dozing, Ricky and Robin worked up
their poop canals. When Ray woke up he was
covered in poop.
