Operational Joining Orders Tactical Team Student, Basic Tactical Class of 2016 Welcome to the 2016 Mission Critical Concepts / S.O.T.A. Five (5) Day Basic Tactical Officers Training Course set for Sunday, September 11th to Friday, September 16th, 2016, at Camp Ripley, Minnesota. In the following joining orders you will find the necessary information concerning the course and equipment requirements that you will need to attend this course. Please be aware that we are running on a tight time line and need you at the Camp Ripley Training facility on Sunday, September 11th, 2016 in time for the evening briefing at 1900 hours. Upon arrival at the Camp Ripley site, go to the Education Building where you will find information reference to your housing location and check-in information. INITIAL BRIEFING At the first briefing, (Sunday, September 11th, 2016, 1900 Hours, Education Building) you will receive your team assignments and your team leader positions along with your initial team briefing for the course and basic course itinerary. You will also find attached a list of break out gear that you will need to assemble for this course. Most of the gear is standard issue tactical callout gear and will be required not only for the various tactical exercises but for your safety as well. WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS The weapons you will need for this course will be your issued Primary long weapon (MP-5, AR-15, M-16, M-4 or suitable substitute, NO Shot Guns) and your secondary duty side arm. These are the only weapons that will be used or trained with during this course. You will not need any weapons systems for the classroom portion the first day of the training course. PHYSICAL TRAINING Each day will begin with P.T. (Physical training, run, team building or confidence course). We highly recommend that you begin some basic P.T. now in preparation for the course. LODGING AND MEALS We will have barracks set aside for all of the teams at the Camp Ripley site well in advance and upon your check in we will have that information available. Lodging is included in the cost of this course. DO NOT UNLOAD all of your gear as you will be assigned to a team and to a specific barracks for this course. Meals will be your responsibility (cost) with breakfast at one of the various mess halls available after P.T. Lunch will be arranged to be brought on site to our training location and evening dinner will be arranged at the Ripley Snack Shop Facility. ITINERAY and DRESS 1 Initial Brief (Sunday Night) – Comfortable Casual Clothing – No Flip Flops Day One Classroom – ACU’s, BDU’s, Cammo, ETC. T-Shirts (No questionable sayings) Top, Boots. Cleared Safe for Training weapons will be used in the afternoon. Day Two through Five – Full Gear, Call out Bag, Weapons Systems, Ammunition, ACU’s or BDU’s, T-Shirts (No questionable sayings) ACU Top, Boots. See additional List attached. OTHER REQUIREMENTS (hydration, Clothing, Weather) We will provide water and ice at all range sites to keep the hydration levels up during all of the training exercises, however the training staff highly encourages you to bring additional water and snacks (canteens, Gatorade, sports drinks and power food, protein bars, etc.) food to keep the energy and strength levels up during the long training days. Weather will be unpredictable and you should plan accordingly. This course is conducted rain or shine, snow, sleet or hail, be prepared. CONDUCT Please be aware that ALL TRAINING REGULATIONS will be strictly enforced for your safety, the safety of your team members and that of the training staff. BODY OR TACTICAL BUNKER 2. DOOR RAM 3. TACTICAL MIRRORS 4. PRY TOOLS OR PRY BAR ENTRY TOOLS 5. TWO DIVERSION DEVICES (FUSE AND BODY, FOR EACH TEAM MEMBER) 6. OPTIONAL (Spare diversion device for the practical exercises conducted on the last day of training.) BASIC TACTICAL OFFICER EQUIPMENT LIST 1. ALL STANDARD CALL OUT GEAR. (Tactical Vest, Knee and Elbow pads, Web gear, Duty Belt, Helmet, Ball Cap, Tactical or Nomex Gloves, Eye and Ear Protection, Gas / Chemical Mask, Rain Gear, etc.) 2. DUTY AMMUNITION 1300 ROUNDS A. Long Gun 800 Rounds B. Hand Gun 500 Rounds 3. WATER PROOF WRITING EQUIPMENT - Field 4. PRIMARY LONG WEAPON (MP-5, UMP, AR-15, M-16, M-4, Etc.) One per Team Member, Officers MUST have their own weapons systems. 5. SECONDARY PISTOL (DUTY WEAPON) Note: MAKE SURE YOUR WEAPONS ARE SIGHTED IN!!!!!! (50 or 100 Yard Zero) You should have your weapons systems gone over and checked to make sure they are duty ready and functioning properly. Do not bring altered, confiscated or illegally altered weapons systems for training. 6. MAGAZINES – Minimum - At least three magazines per weapons system. (Additional Spares are recommended for the team in case of damage) 7. FLASH LIGHT OR TACTICAL MOUNTED FLASH LIGHTS FOR BOTH WEAPON SYSTEMS and HANDHELD LIGHT SYSTEM. No lasers 8. WEAPONS CLEANING KITS 9. FIELD SNACKS 3 A. POWER BARS B. CANDY BARS, ETC. C. SPORTS DRINKS 10. SUN SCREEN 11. INSECT REPELLENT 12. SLEEPING BAG/ BED ROLLS / SPARE BLANKETS 13. PILLOWS 14. TOILETRIES 15. BATH TOWELS 16. GYM GEAR – RUNNING SHOES, SHORTS, BLACK T-SHIRTS, ETC 17. CLASSROOM MATERIAL – Note taking equipment, pens or pencils. 18. MEDICAL SUPPLIES – Pain medication (Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, etc, Asthma meds, etc.) **Note taking equipment is required for the classroom portion of this course. 4
