We had great participation and the meal was excellent. Many thanks to everyone that donated door prizes for the event and to everyone that helped us prepare for the event and load up after the event. Also thanks to everyone that volunteered to bring desserts for the banquet. We really had a tremendous turnout for our first tournaments of the year. We had 44 anglers each day and that is a great turnout. Unfortunately we had some very near disastrous weather hit the lake on Saturday. Everyone was very lucky to get back to the dock without serious damage with the exception of Ken Carter. He and his fishing partners, Roy Pivoda and Allen Skirvin had a close call with their boat swamping. Thank goodness the Border Patrol went out and picked them up and brought them back to the dock. Al Haughey and Chuck Feely tried to get to them on Saturday but conditions were just too rough. They did manage to tow Ken’s boat back in on Sunday morning. I know we had a rough ride back in on Saturday and we almost made it back all the way; but Bill Surber’s boat broke down and Leinweber managed to tow Bill and Larry Hall back in. Everyone was really wet; but everyone was okay. It was great to have Dr. Josh Hiler and his girlfriend, Dana, fish with us again. Good luck to everyone next month on Falcon.
