PLANNING:
Discussion leader presents book selections to librarians 6 months prior to
discussion
Considerations:
participants’ interest in storyline
availability of multiple copies
availability of guest speaker or companion program
WAYS TO ENHANCE THE BOOK DISCUSSION EXPERIENCE:
Guest speaker: related to subject of book, 2-4 weeks prior to discussion
Participants: include school classes, read book on local radio station
Author as guest speaker: via Skype
Site visit: bus trip to location in book
Funding: county funding, grants, local business sponsors
BUDGET:
$400 from county supervisors: speaker fee, discussion leader fee
Host libraries cover the cost of postage for ILL copies and provide refreshments
