The evening kicked-off with an inspiring speech by Dr. Miguel Cardona, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning. Dr. Cardona is a lifelong resident of Meriden. He attended Meriden Public Schools and went on to study at CCSU and UCONN, where he received his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership. Having many accolades, his most important roles in his opinion are that of a husband and father. The gist of his speech was that the children are the diplomas of their parents. Their achievements are a reflection of the sacrifices and efforts the parents have shown throughout the years of bringing up their children.
