Congratu�ate Sara E. Vaal, RN! Our first DAISY Award Winner! Sara began her shift on the Medical Unit with a great surprise the morning of Friday, May 9th! She had been nominated for and won Memorial Hospital’s first DAISY Award! Sara is described by her nominator, Abby Recker, RN, as “...one of the most caring, kind and compassionate individuals I know. She always goes above and beyond to ensure our patients and their families are receiving the best possible care. Sara puts her patients at the forefront. When she enters a patient’s room, she is in that moment and focuses completely on her job.” As a DAISY Award winner, Sara was gifted with a DAISY pin, certificate, award sculpture, and Cinnabons for the whole department. Angi was awarded with a great surprise on the rainy afternoon of Wednesday, May 14! She had been nominated for and won Memorial Hospital’s first GARDENER Award! Angi is the Activities Coordinator for the Skilled Caring Center. There were two heart-warming nomination forms turned in for Angi. Both of Angi’s nominators explain her willingness to go above and beyond for all patients as well as coworkers. She often covers multiple departments and multiple positions all while maintaining a smile.
