Unity Coalition|Coalicion Unida (UC|CU) produces various programs throughout the year, including an LGBT VIRTUAL
RESOURCE CENTER, providing local, national & international resources for LGBT & LGBT-friendly needs, such as legal
counsel, immigration & binational issues, marriage, adoption, counseling, youth, family, female & senior groups, LGBT
Centers around the globe, and much more. We offer a variety of regularly scheduled WORKSHOPS, TRAININGS and
COMMUNITY BUILDING PROGRAMS throughout the year, as well as customized programs for corporations, community
groups & educational institutions.

TRANSART|Showcasing the Talent, Vision and Possibilities within the transgender Community –
bringing together a collection of talents, individuals & artistic genres to create awareness, nurture
aspiring artists & enlighten all about the many layers of the transgender community.
Since 2009, UC|CU has produced LEADERS, LEGENDS & LOVELIES Ball. It is about celebrating the
good, positive & outstanding within our community, and each year we honor outstanding
community leaders with our LEGENDS MEDAL at the event. The Ball is also our kick-off event to
Celebrate ORGULLO.
Started in 2011, the Celebrate ORGULLO Festival Showcases HISPANIC PRIDE during Hispanic
Heritage & LGBT Pride Month - The First Event of its kind in the U.S. The event is free and open to
the public, and proceeds benefit our LGBT Scholarship Fund and year round programming.
LGBT COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP UC|CU’s ANITA PRIEST Memorial Scholarship provides funding for
COLLEGE, to the South Florida LGBTQ Community interested in the ARTS, DESIGN or EDUCATION,
along with a Jr. board position at UC|CU, every year.

UC|CU’s Annual LGBT COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM IN ARTS,
DESIGN & EDUCATION. Celebrating the Life of ANITA PRIEST, and
Providing Educational Opportunities to our Community.
With the common goals of Leadership & Empowering the LGBT community through Art, Design & Education,
Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida is proud continue the legacy of Anita Priest and the Whispering Angels Foundation, by
spearheading the Anita Priest Memorial Scholarship, ongoing. Established in 2007 in memory of her later partner,
renowned Interior Designer Anita Priest, the “Whispering
Angels” Memorial Scholarship program founded by
Sandra Holiday, is a legacy program that provides a
scholarship for the LGBT community to advance their
education in the area of Design & the Arts, and Education.
ELIGIBILITY
- You must be a resident of the U.S.
- Submit a completed and signed application.
- Recent photo or digital photo in jpg, gif, or bmp format,
and a scan of Driver’s License/State Issued ID.
- Most recent academic transcript to be sent by the school
by e-mail or by mail.
- At least two and no more than three letters of
recommendation, including references to your academic
work.
- Scholarship recipients will be invited to serve a 12 month
Junior Board member position at UC|CU, to foster & encourage Community Service, Leadership & involvement –
ongoing.
- Winning applicants are awarded a $2,500. Scholarship for tuition expenses related to Design, the Arts or Education, paid
directly to the school.
Scholarship applications are available every January, and awards are announced in March.

DANIELLE BONITA PAGE | Danielle Bonita Page is the 2015 Recipient and is attending Nyack College. She made the
Dean’s List & is graduating with a 3.00 average. She is studying to be a teacher

TEK H. LIM | Tek H. Lim is majoring in International Business at Florida International University. He is originally from
Cambodia and transferred from Limkokwing University of Creativity Technology to FIU in 2011 to pursue his degree
and life in the United States. Continuing his strong passion for humanity and community involvement for his own
people in a struggling Cambodia, Tek continues to advocate for equality and those in need here in Miami.
JOVAN KALA HANNAH | Jovan Kala Hannah will be graduating from New World School of the Arts (High School),
where he’s concentrating in Musical Theatre performance. He has been professionally and classically trained at New
World School, and was recently seen in “Curtains”, “The Exonerated”, and “GOD”. Jovan is currently enrolled at
Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
ALBERTO PARRA | Alberto the 2010 recipient & is studying Interior Design at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale.

CELEBRATE ORGULLO | HISPANIC LGBT PRIDE FESTIVAL
Started in 2011, Celebrate ORGULLO is a month long celebration of events across South
Florida. Kicking it all off with our Artists Showcase, followed by our ESCRITORES|Writers
Forum, Noches De JAZZ series, Family Events, SABORES Dining Events, Noches de Rumba at
local clubs, and of course, our LEGENDS BALL & Awards …
