Bob has been entertaining for more than 55 years. Hailing from Illinois, he now lives in Apache Junction Arizona. He performs at Arizona resorts, special events, parties and at senior centers. Both Dale and Bob have been long term members of our club and both are very talented entertainers. Enjoy the show. At this month’s meeting we will be celebrating (belatedly) the 17th birthday of our AZ Accordion Club. Birthday cake will be served for all to enjoy. Bring Your Accordion and Play Please contact Phil Fox (480-427-2394) for performance opportunities for pre-meeting or meeting schedules Face Book https://www.facebook.com/pages/ARIZONAACCORDION CLUB Page 2 The Arizona Accordion Club MENU for NOVEMBER 18, 2013 - Pasta Fagioli with a Garden Salad and Bread OCTOBER 21,2013 MEETING: An evening with Todd Hagen and Leigh Dechaine The pre-meeting music was played for us by the Ultimate Entertainer, Todd Hagen. What a treat it is to watch, listen and totally enjoy all his presentations! As usual with the pre-meeting, I donʼt list all the songs they played, but in Todd's instance, just know it was great! He finished his set with his signature song “The Auctioneer,” complete with a little help from several members of the audience - Chuck Voinivich, Rose Protocollo, Lydia DʼAgusto and Leigh Dechaine! That was so much fun to see and hear! Let me tell you that you folks need some help with that Auctioneer song! Ha. And in answer to a request from the audience, he had to end with an Ole and Lena joke! Thanks, Todd - gee, we've missed you! ( Sounds a little partial, well - it is!) John Trippon played next on his pretty red button box - the “Schunkelwaltz Medley.” That was really nice, John -and thanks for writing the name of that for me! Dale Matthies gave us an informational presentation of his small Roland accordion. He began with “Twilight Time,” then several other tunes that show the different sounds of the accordion. He played and demonstrated the Roland for his whole set - very pretty, Dale. Thank you. Jay Stevens came up to finish out the evening. He played a nice selection of tunes including “It's a Wonderful World,” “Achey Breaky Heart,” “ Oh, Lonesome Me,” “Your Cheating Heart,” “Never On Sunday,” “Waltz Across Texas,” and lots more. That was a fun way to say Good Night, Jay. Another really enjoyable night with the Arizona Our featured performer, Leigh Dechaine, with his pretty red accordion, (which he says was the first red one in the club) played several Minnesota songs - none of which I knew. Then he played “Rockinʼ Rye” complete with the recipe for making “Rockinʼ Rye.” and on into “Red Wing,” “The Waltz You Saved For Me,” “Allegheny Moon,” “Tennessee Waltz,” “Rose of San Antone” and many more. Thanks, Leigh we always enjoy you! Accordion Club! See you on November 18th Now for a quick “as my Dad always said” “The way food prices are zooming, Being overweight may soon be a status symbol.” The Arizona Accordion Club Table of Contents Cover Todd Hagen and Leigh Dechain President Phil’s Message Page 3 Our Meeting ! At dawn, they were led to a courtyard, where the squad leader asked the accordion player if he had a final request. “Iʼd like to play a few choruses of “Beer Barrel Polka,” the accordionist replied. “I think that can be arranged,” said the squad leader.
