The Arizona Connection Volume 22 Issue 4 October/November/December 2010 Kris’s Korner Happy Holidays Everyone! ARIZONA STATE WCR NEWSLETTER 2011 State WCR Events This year is almost over. The saying, “Time flies when you are having fun” is sure true! It was good to see everyone at the installation meeting. A lot of great information was imparted, and what a way to kick off our 50th year! I want to thank all of you for making this past year so memorable for me. It was just amazing to travel the State seeing areas I had not seen before and meeting new members. Each chapter is so different. I learned something new at each visit. The March meeting was, even in the snow, a great time and, with the help of AAR, continues to be a great conference. Our summer meeting was such a learning experience with Linda Lee and her great enthusiasm. Our 50th year looks to be a year of growth for our chapters. I look forward to serving as your governor and visiting all the chapters’ governing board meetings. Have a Great Holiday and as always if I can be of help in the coming year, just let me know. Congratulations on an Amazing Year, TEAM AZ! You have all worked hard and it shows! You, as a group, have increased our total State membership to 448 members as of December 15, 2010. We are so proud! Both of us are retiring as your Governors this year! It has truly been an honor for us to serve you all! Sindy: “Remember, the more you get involved…the more you get out of this or any organization! I can still remember when I was asked to serve on a state committee…it was fun and a way to stay involved…and now look! I will still stay involved as I join the ranks of the Past State Officers before me…Just let me know if you need anything. And, Thank you for the honor of being your Arizona State member of the year for 2010.” Wilma:” Thank you for the opportunity to help you all! By getting involved, you will build friendships for life and build your leadership skills!” For us both…it has been about making your jobs easier and helping your Chapters…it is all about our members! Thank you for the honor to serve! To share that journey with the State Chapter and the members we meet nationally is the big bright cherry on the top! We had a terrific year of speaker’s and educational opportunities and were able to grow our Chapter by 28 members!! That is one of the highest membership increases numbers we have seen in years! A big hat’s off to 2010 VP of Membership Cari Derksen and everyone who helped. We have exciting things planned already for our 2011 Calendar, under the fine leadership of 2011 President Tiffany Drejza. We hope for continued opportunities to share knowledge and share business in the coming year. “Even after all this time the sun never says to the earth, a variety of entertaining and educational speakers. “you owe me.” Look what happens with a love like that. I look forward to another year of service with all of you and wish you the happiest of holidays. Tausha Fournier 2010 President Scottsdale Chapter This 2010 has been a memorable year for more than one reason. As our market has been challenging our Scottsdale Chapter Board and members have stepped up and beyond. With a chapter with great synergy we were able to change our location venue and increase our profit each month. We also added a summer Casino Night Event, which turned out to be much better than expected, not to mention a lot of fun. Only to continue with our Annual Fashion Show which this year we had it in October and named it “Masquerade Fashion Show” to follow up with the theme at our NAR/WCR conference in New Orleans. This year has been a learning year as well as a profitable year for our Chapter. With the 2011 New President Sandy Lunsford and her Board, it looks like it will be an exciting and successful year as we can already see (especially after our Winter Conference, with the excitement in their eyes and minds of things to include and improve). I have no doubt that they will again go up and beyond and have a wonderful 2011 year. As for me it has been an honor to have been the 2010 President of our Chapter and look forward to my position as Arizona WCR Treasurer in 2011. I will continue to advise and support my Scottsdale Chapter for all the following years. Becky Fowler 2010 President Sierra Vista/Cochise Chapter The Sierra Vista/Cochise Chapter has had a fun and eventful year. Our speakers have included the Cochise County Sheriff, Cochise County Superintendent of Schools, an author of Diversity in Real Estate, the Director of Economic Research, and months and are proud to have earned the top award this year for membership retention. Our chapter had the pleasure of attending the Tucson WCR chapter Business Resource Meeting in September and we are hosting a group of Tucson WCR members at our installation meeting in October. Sheila Espinoza, former WCR National and State President, will install our new members. We are honored to also have our Governors, Sindy Ready and Wilma Purcell, attend in October. Barbara Highfield 2010 Chapter President Superstition Mountain Chapter Aloha Arizona State Members! Leading a Chapter is a ‘team’ effort and it could not have been done without the Superstition Mountain governing board and their talents, time and commitment to the our Chapter! Congratulations to the 2011 Officers and Governing Board, these leaders have served our Chapter faithfully and with great passion over the years. Barbara Lasky, our Vice-President of Membership, did a superb job planning these social events. As a result, several new members joined our Chapter as Realtor and affiliate members. September 27th was the date of our 27th Annual Dessert Mele Kalikimaka! Auction. The theme was “Rockin’ and Rollin’ with WCR.” Makalani Adolpho Everyone enjoyed the great desserts and had fun dancing to “the 2010 Chapter President oldies, but goodies” played by the band, Still Cruisin’. Everyone who attended enjoyed the fabulous fashions, fun, fellowship, and great shopping opportunities in a very lovely setting. In May I also had the privilege of attending the MidYear Women’s Council Conference in Washington, D.C. At the Mid-Year Conference, State and Local Chapters are recognized for their outstanding performance from the previous year. Without a doubt the mid-year conference hosted by the national leadership provided every attendee the latest in real estate technology and social media marketing courses. The Convention also provided great opportunities to network with hundreds of Realtors from all over the United States. In mid July the five Tucson line officers attended the State Summer Meeting in north Phoenix. This was another “sizzling good time”. We attended an excellent Risk Reduction Continuing Education Course and forged friendships with Women’s Council members from all over the state of Arizona. Summer time was a time to “chill out” with members
