This is an encore screening from National
Theatre London.
Simon Godwin (Man and Superman) directs
George Farquhar’s wild comedy of love and
cash.
The ‘Beaux’: Mr Aimwell and Mr Archer, two
charming, dissolute young men who have blown
their fortunes in giddy London. Shamed and
debt-ridden, they flee to provincial Lichfield.
Their ‘Stratagem’: to marry for money.
But their greatest obstacle is love. When the
Beaux meet their match in Dorinda and Mrs
Sullen they are most at risk, for in love they
might be truly discovered.

A one-person show featuring Maria Connolly
Set in Belfast in the 1950’s and 60’s Two Sore
Legs is a powerful, autobiographical play.
Brenda Murphy’s mother Bridie, a young Butlin’s
Redcoat, had 6 children by a married man who
lived around the corner with his other family. The
play explores the pain, the joy and the fall-out
from this extraordinary family arrangement.
From the rowdy, fractious relationship Bridie had
with her own father to the explosive but hilarious
visits of the local Parish Priest, this play drips
explicit family emotions.

DU Dance (NI) presents a celebration of the best
of youth dance with performances from youth
dance groups from England, Ireland, Northern
Ireland and the National Youth Groups from
Scotland and Wales.
This showcase performance event will bring
to the stage a range of different pieces in a
variety of different styles showing the rich dance
heritage of these Isles expressed by young
people today.
A powerful and energy packed event for
families, young people and anyone with an
interest in dance.
Following the critical acclaim of The Producers, Oklahoma, and Les
Miserables, Peter Corry returns to Theatre at The Mill weaving his magic
by directing this new production of Irving Berlin’s classic musical Annie
Get Your Gun.
Annie Oakley is the best shot around, and when Buffalo Bill’s Wild West
Show comes to town he persuades this novel sharpshooter to join his Wild
West Show; it only takes one glance for Annie to fall head over heels for
the dashing star of the show, shooting ace Frank Butler. She soon eclipses
Butler as the main attraction and, nursing a bruised ego, he hightails it off
to join a rival show, eventually to be pitted against Annie in a final shootout. The rousing, sure-fire finale hits the mark every time in a testament to
the power of female ingenuity.
With a cast of professional actor musicians, and a live band on stage under
the musical direction of Matthew Reeve, this new production features the
all-time classic hits There’s No Business Like Show Business, Doin’ What
Comes Natur’lly, and Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better.
Come down, and celebrate the theatre’s fifth anniversary, experiencing the
best of Broadway in Newtownabbey this autumn.

Soprano Sondra
Radvanovsky takes on the
extraordinary challenge
of singing all three of
Donizetti’s Tudor queens
in the course of a single
season, a rare feat made
famous by Beverly Sills—
and not attempted on a
New York stage since. On
screen, in this climactic
opera of the trilogy, she plays Queen Elizabeth
I, forced to sign the death warrant of the
nobleman she loves, Roberto Devereux. Tenor
Matthew Polenzani is Devereux, and mezzosoprano Elina Garanca and baritone Mariusz
Kwiecien complete the principal quartet in the
bel canto masterpiece, conducted by Donizetti
specialist Maurizio Benini. As with the earlier
Anna Bolena and Maria Stuarda, the production
is by Sir David McVicar, who with this staging
completes an enormously ambitious directorial
accomplishment..

The genius director Patrice
Chéreau (From the House
of the Dead) didn’t live
to see his great Elektra
production, previously
presented in Aix and
Milan, make it to the
stage of the Met. But his
overpowering vision lives
on with soprano Nina Stemme—unmatched
today in the heroic female roles of Strauss
and Wagner—who portrays Elektra’s primal
quest for vengeance for the murder of her
father, Agamemnon. Legendary mezzo-soprano
Waltraud Meier is chilling as Elektra’s fearsome
mother, Klytämnestra. Soprano Adrianne
Pieczonka and bass-baritone Eric Owens are
Elektra’s troubled siblings. Chéreau’s musical
collaborator Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts
Strauss’s mighty take on Greek myth..

Redcoat, had 6 children by a married man who

‘She’s as good as it gets. She’s as good as the

Gerry Anderson, BBC Radio Ulster
Susan Boyle loves wine. What’s more, she
knows what she is drinking and talking about.
She’s got 2,000 years of Irish wine history to
back her up. So, sit back, let her pour you a
glass while she takes you on a trip with the
tenacious Irish people who transformed the wine
world and didn’t let coming from a grape free
land stop them!
From Gweedore, Jacqui Sharkey creates
heartfelt songs and sings them with her
captivating voice. Multi-talented traditional
songwriter Ian Smith moved from Scotland
to Donegal some eighteen years ago and in
that time has become an important part of its
musical landscape. Hailing from Killybegs, Jody
Gallagher has a blues and Americana sound, and
writes sharp lyrics with well-crafted melodies.
Together they create a magical traditional sound
to become much more than a sum of their
differing parts.

unpolished Harriet Smith? With her help, who
knows how far Miss Smith could reach?
This joyous comedy is about following your
dreams, no matter where you come from,
and losing your heart to the “beautiful game”.
Starring Richard Dormer, Bronagh Gallagher
and Conleth Hill, this is a heartwarming and
unmissable movie.
But as her interfering gets out of hand, it may

This Swedish trio’s music is a force of nature,
both delicate and intensely energetic; the perfect
marriage of three instrumental “voices”, the
nyckelharpa, the viola and an alternatively-tuned
12-string guitar. Olov Johansson’s nyckelharpa
is central to the group. Unique to Sweden, its
combination of fiddle-style bowing, keys and
strings, produces a singing sound like no other
instrument. The trio have spent 25 years touring
worldwide, winning fans wherever they go - in
Bloomington, Indiana, there is even a street
named after them. Put simply, the brilliant
musicianship, fleet-fingered invention, damned
catchy tunes and constant surprise, make the
Nordic trio an absolute pleasure to witness.

Tom Crean (1877 – 1938), the intrepid Antarctic

thoughts, and influences those around him with
seemingly inexplicable results!
Written by Ger Gallagher and starring Rose
Henderson of Fair City fame and Isobel Mahon
from Glenroe, this hilarious and fast paced
comedy is about life, love and dieting and how
we all need to adjust the scales to find the right
balance! Highly driven Pam and motherly Breda
meet each week at their Easi-Slim weigh in
clinic and strike up an unlikely friendship while
the voice of their Easi-Slim instructor booms
from on high, reigning over all. Through their
bonding over dieting, Pam and Breda learn that
things aren’t always what they appear to be
and that sometimes you already have the life
you have been wishing for. Weighing In was a
sell- out success at The Old Courthouse is 2014

Playhouse Creatures throws four real actresses
(Nell Gwyn, Elizabeth Farley, Rebecca Marshall,
and Mary Betterton) and Doll Common (a
character in The Alchemist written in the
early 1600s by Ben Johnson) into a moving
and riotous account of the precarious lives of
Restoration actresses. These gutsy women
grapple for recognition and a new social role for
women, whilst falling victim to the attitudes and
consequences of the age.
Bruiser’s production is ballsy and brash. Expect
fizzing comedy, camaraderie and contention in
this unvarnished, wickedly funny and vivacious
account of the fight these women faced to be
seen as theatre’s first legitimate actresses.
