There are two versions of the BlackBerry service available: one for companies with their own email server (BlackBerry Solution) and one for use with Internet (ISP) Email accounts (Instant Email with BlackBerry). The BlackBerry service automatically pushes all incoming emails to your phone and outgoing email to your email account. In addition, BlackBerry Solution users have access to the wireless calendar functionality and wireless access to the company's global address book so they can always keep up-todate. • A P910 Series phone with at least Organiser software CXC16204x R2A17. Note x represents 1-6. To check the version you have, tap > EDIT > S Y S T E M I N F O R M A T IO N and tap twice. To download the latest version of the software, go to Sony Ericsson Update Service on: www.SonyEricsson.com System Information P910i Organiser: CXC162041 R2A17 CDA: CDA162003/1 R4C09 Done Installing BlackBerry Connect • An Intel® 486 compatible PC or better. Running Windows® 98 (SE), Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP. Before you start • A USB port with 1.1 compatibility or greater. The requirements for running BlackBerry Connect on your phone differ depending on the type of BlackBerry service you are installing. • A BlackBerry Solution enabled SIM from T-Mobile. Setting up BlackBerry Solution You will need: • BlackBerry Configuration for Sony Ericsson software, version 2.0.0.x. • PC Suite for P910 Series phone (version 3.1.0 or higher). • BlackBerry Connect setup file (.sis). Getting Started 3 • An email account on one of the following systems: Server software Email software Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5 or later Microsoft Outlook (Workgroup installation) Lotus Domino™ Server version 4.6 or later Lotus Notes version 4.6 or later • BlackBerry Enterprise Server™ software must be installed in your infrastructure, see BlackBerry Enterprise Server User Guide for more details. • An individual BlackBerry identity has to be created on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for every user. See your Network Administrator for further details. Setting up Instant Email with BlackBerry for use with Internet (ISP) Email Accounts • A P910 Series phone with at least Organiser software CXC16204x R2A17. Note x represents 1-6. Click Y E S to install. If BlackBerry Connect is installed on your phone but not provisioned go directly to step 10 on page 6. 4. The Installation Software dialog opens, the BlackBerry Connect application is transferred from the PC to the internal memory of your phone. Note If you want to install the BlackBerry Connect setup file (.sis) file from your PC or if you are installing BlackBerry Solution you need to make sure Sony Ericsson PC Suite for P910 Series phone is installed on your PC. You can download the latest version of PC Suite from: www.SonyEricsson.com If you are using BlackBerry Solution, you also need to install the BlackBerry Configuration for Sony Ericsson Application on your PC. 1. Connect your phone to the PC via SyncStation, infrared or Bluetooth wireless technology. When connected and appears in the status area to the right of the taskbar on your PC. Note BlackBerry Connect can be installed directly from the phone if necessary. Tap the setup file to start the installation then follow the instructions below from step 3. Note It is recommended that you backup your phone before installing BlackBerry Connect. To backup: right click on the status area and select B A C K U P A N D R E S T O R E . 5. The About to Install dialog opens on the PC screen. Click NEXT. 6. Select your preferred operating language from the dialog, click N E X T . A dialog is displayed informing you that the installation is complete. Click F I N IS H . 7. A dialog is displayed informing you that the installer will unpack the BlackBerry Connect Setup file (.sis) on your phone. Click C O N T I N U E . 8. Tap and select A P P L I C A T I O N S > I N S TA L L . Select and tap I N S TA L L . The installation starts, the phone is restarted as part of the installation process. BLACKBERRY 9. When the phone restarts a dialog automatically opens. If the flip is closed you will be asked to open it. Use the dialog to select the specific BlackBerry service you require. • If you want to install BlackBerry Solution follow steps 8 13. • If you want to install Instant Email with BlackBerry follow steps 14 - 18 2. Double click the BlackBerry Connect Setup file (.sis) on your PC. Getting Started 5 BlackBerry Solution Note Your System administrator needs to create a BlackBerry identity for you before BlackBerry Solution is setup on your phone. Contact your system administrator for further details. This dialog can also be accessed from the BlackBerry application by tapping BlackBerry > Provision. 10. Select B L A C K B E R R Y S O L U T I O N from the drop-down menu, click D O N E . Place your phone into the SyncStation if it is not already there. moving the mouse. To start the BlackBerry Solution, tap "Done" BlackBerry Solution Cancel Done 11. A dialog opens on your phone, tap C O N T I N U E . Your phone establishes a connection with BlackBerry Enterprise Server. and start flashing in the 12. Starting Service is displayed, Status Bar of the phone. Service is on is displayed when a connection is established and the two icons stop flashing. The status field changes to Connected. 13. Open the BlackBerry Configuration for Sony Ericsson application on your PC. You will be asked to generate random information for the new encryption key and PIN by 6 Getting Started Do you wish to proceed with bulk load of calendar items to your device? This will cause all items currently in the device calendar to be erased. OK Cancel Click O K to continue and the calendar bulk load starts. This process may take some time. When it is finished your service books have been pushed to your phone. Note If you have installed BlackBerry Connect on your phone previously a dialog may open informing you that the synchronized phone is associated with another BlackBerry Connect account, you will be given the choice to continue to install or exit. 15. Click E X I T and then Y E S on the PC to save the new settings. Your emails will now be sent to both your PC email account and your phone, and new accounts called BlackBerry and Sys on your phone. Instant Email with BlackBerry for use with Internet (ISP) Email Accounts 16. Select I N S TA N T E M A IL from the drop-down menu, click D O N E . 17. The browser on your phone opens and displays the Instant Email with BlackBerry Sign In page. It might take a few moments for your browser to open. YOUR ACCOUNT. Field Description User ID Type the login name for your account. Your login name forms the first part of your default email address. Note: Using this email account is optional and you will be able to add your own internet email accounts later in the set-up process. Friendly Name Type the name that you want to appear in the From field of the emails that you send. Password Type the password for your Instant Email with BlackBerry account. Passwords must contain four to eight characters and are case sensitive. This password allows you to access your Instant Email with BlackBerry service settings in the future. Re-enter password Retype your password. BlackBerry Set-up Welcome to the BlackBerry set-up application. To use this service you must be subscribed first. Please contact your operator for further details Instant Email allows you to access your personal accounts from your device. To start Instant Email, tap "Done" Instant Email As the browser opens the Instant Email with Cancel Done BlackBerry service Status changes to Not Connected. This is because the BlackBerry Connect connection is automatically disconnected to allow your WAP connection to start so you can use the browser. 18. Tap C R E A T E opens. 21. Type your account information into the following fields: The Account Set-up page 19. Scroll down and tap C O N T IN U E . 20. The legal terms and conditions appear. If you accept the legal terms and conditions, tap I A G R E E . 22. Select a S E C R E T Q U E S T I O N . Type the answer in the Secret Answer field. If you forget your password, you will be asked to answer this question before your password is emailed to you. Tap S U B M I T . 23. The Account Set-up Complete page is displayed. Scroll down, checking all your details. If all the details are correct tap D O N E to exit or A D D A C C O U N T to add an existing Internet Email (ISP) account that you want to use in connection with your Instant Email with BlackBerry Getting Started 7 service. Instant Email with BlackBerry can work with up to 10 existing Internet Email (ISP) accounts. 24. Turn your phone off and on. Enter your SIM card PIN if requested. 25. The BlackBerry service starts automatically. appears in the Status Bar of your phone. Your Instant Email with BlackBerry account is created and the Instant Email with BlackBerry service book is sent to your phone. 26. Your emails are automatically sent to both your web mail account and the new I N S TA N T E M A I L account that has been created on your phone’s tab. 27. You will receive an Instant Email with BlackBerry message welcoming you to the T-Mobile service. 8 Getting Started Using BlackBerry BlackBerry Solution, Instant Email with BlackBerry and Sys Inbox are listed as separate accounts in Messages depending on the service you are subscribed to. An asterisk next to an account indicates that a message has arrived since you last opened the account inbox. If you are using BlackBerry Solution, you can also set up Instant Email with BlackBerry service for use with your Internet (ISP) Email accounts. Please refer to: United Kingdom: www.instantemail.t-mobile.co.uk Germany: www.instantemail.t-mobile.de Austria: www.instantemail.t-mobile.at Email Your BlackBerry Connect email account is listed in on your phone. To access your email account: 1. Tap . 2. Select your BlackBerry Connect account , from the accounts listed in Messages. Any All Point Bulletins and Pin to Pin messages received by your phone are automatically sent to the System Inbox account. You can view Messages with the flip open or closed. In flip closed use the Jog Dial to select the Messages icon, press the Jog Dial in to open Messages. When a new email arrives, appears in the status bar of the device and an audible alert will sound, if set in the Control Panel. Tap > V I E W to read the new email. Using BlackBerry 9 Email folders Inbox BlackBerry Connect accounts always have the following folders: Inbox, Outbox, Draft and Sent. Inbox contains received messages. From here you can reply to, forward and delete messages but you cannot edit them. You can use the BlackBerry Connect application to view how many messages the BlackBerry Connect mailbox can hold, once this limit is reached messages are automatically deleted, oldest first. As well as the four standard folders, any folders you have created on the top level of your server using your PC email program are also displayed under Remote in the folder drop-down menu. Sub folders are not supported, all the emails from subfolders are displayed in the top level folder that they belong to. Tap the tick box next to the message you want to move or open the message. 2. Select M E S S A G E > Outbox contains messages that are ready to be sent. An email is only stored in the outbox if BlackBerry Connect is set to Pause, GPRS coverage is unavailable or you write an email when the phone is in Flight Mode. Note All emails enter the outbox when they are in the process of being sent. Draft Draft contains messages that are not ready to be sent. To store a new message in draft, create the message and exit without selecting S E N D . MOVE MESSAGE. 3. Use the drop-down menu to select the folder you want to move the message to. 4. Tap O K . The message is moved. 10 Outbox Using BlackBerry Sent Sent contains messages you have sent from your phone. Remote Personalised folders appear under Remote. For a personalised folder to be available you must first create it on the server using the email program on your PC. The personalised folder must appear on the same level as your Inbox. Personal folders can only be used in connection with BlackBerry Solution remote folder is displayed on the phone you can read the mail by opening the folder. If the emails are forwarded to a folder which is not accessible on the phone the email is displayed in the Inbox or the remote folder that the specified sub folder is stored within. You can use the BlackBerry Configuration for Sony Ericsson application to select the folders you want to display under Remote: 1. Synchronize your phone with your PC by placing it in the SyncStation. 2. Open the BlackBerry Configuration for Sony Ericsson application on your PC and select the A D V A N C E D tab. 3. In the Folder redirection section of the tab activate Selected Folders and click C H O O S E F O L D E R S . 4. A dialog opens, all the folders that are on the top level of your email program are listed. Click the check box next to a folder to select it. Click O K to close the dialog. 5. Click D O N E to exit the BlackBerry Configuration for Sony Ericsson application. 6. The folders you have selected will now be listed under Remote in the drop-down folder list. If you have set a rule in your email program to send certain emails to specific folders on arrival this still happens. If the Using BlackBerry 11 Handling emails Writing emails To write a new email: Select your BlackBerry Connect account and tap M E S S A G E > N E W, or tap N E W. If you leave a message before sending it, the message is automatically stored in the draft folder. To mark an email as urgent: • On the tab, select H I G H in the Priority list. To enter addresses from Contacts when writing an email: 1. Select T O : 2. The Selected Contact dialog opens. Choose Local Contacts to open the Contacts tab of your phone. 3. Tap the box next to a contact to select it. If you tap a contact that has two email addresses a new dialog opens asking you to specify which address should be used. The Selected Contacts dialog opens again. All the contacts you have selected are listed in the window. 5. Tap D O N E . The selected contacts are entered into the To: field of your email. 12 Using BlackBerry To enter an address from your company’s global address book (BlackBerry Solution only): 4. Click to search for the contact. 1. Tap To: in a new message. 5. The matching entries are displayed on the screen. If there are more than 20 matches, click M O R E to download the next 20 matches. Searching is displayed on the screen while the entries are downloaded. 2. The Selected Contacts dialog opens, tap G L O B A L ADDRESS LOOKUP. Selected Contacts 3. Enter the first, or first few, letters of the contact address you want to find in the text field at the top of the screen. Note Tap the arrow at the end of the text field to display the last 10 searched for entries. Tap an entry to select it. Global address lookup m Matches: 8 of 8 More Selected: 3 Smith, Michael Matthews, Mark Jones, James Mitchell, Mary McNally, Luke Myers, John Frost, Michelle Williams, Sam Global Address Lookup Local Contacts Cancel Done Note Matching entries are Copy Cancel displayed last name, first name. Matches shows the number of contacts downloaded to your phone and the total number of matches on the server. Done 6. Tap the check box next to a contact to select it. 7. Repeat the process to search for additional contacts. Any contacts already selected remain displayed at the bottom of the new list. Using BlackBerry 13 8. Once you have selected all the required entries, tap DONE. Note To enter several addresses manually (without using contacts) enter a comma between each address. Adding attachments Selected Contacts [email protected] [email protected]. [email protected] Note To copy an entry from Global Address Lookup to your Global Address Lookup Local Contacts tap the contacts Local Contacts tick box and tap C O P Y . You can copy as many contact details Done Cancel over as you require. Copied items are removed from the Global Address Lookup view. Tap D O N E to return to the Selected Contacts view where the copied contacts are listed. If you search the Global Address Lookup again the copied entries are included in the search. If you copy details more than once a duplicate version will be created in Local Contacts. Sending email Note Instant Email with BlackBerry service cannot send and receive attachments in native formats on your phone, such as .doc, .xls, .zip. However, plain text copies of supported attachments can be downloaded and displayed in the BlackBerry Attachment Viewer. Instant Email with BlackBerry accounts can forward attachments in native format. To attach a file to an email: 1. On the tab, tap A D D . 2. The Add attachment dialog opens. Select the type of attachment you want to include and tap D O N E . 3. The Select dialog opens. Navigate the storage areas of your phone to locate the entry you want to attach. 4. Tap the object and tap S E L E C T . 5. The entry is displayed on the tab of the email. Note Native attachments exceeding 32 KB can not be sent using BlackBerry Connect. Receiving email Once you have written your email tap S E N D to send it. Emails that are received on your corporate email and/or web mail are automatically copied to your phone. If your BlackBerry Connect application is set to PA U S E or switched O F F , the email is stored in the outbox and sent when the GPRS connection is restored. Only the initial 2 KB of a message is downloaded. If the message is larger than 2 KB two buttons are displayed, M O R E 14 Using BlackBerry and M O R E ALL. Click M O R E to download another 2 KB or to download the rest of the message. Instant Email with BlackBerry can only forward native attachments, it can not send or receive them. MORE ALL You must manage the space on your phone, make sure all unnecessary emails are deleted. Receiving attachments Note Instant Email with BlackBerry service cannot send and receive attachments in native formats on your phone, such as .doc, .xls, .zip. However, plain text copies of supported attachments can be downloaded and displayed in the BlackBerry Attachment Viewer. Instant Email with BlackBerry accounts can forward attachments in native format. Attachments are displayed on the tab. The icon shown next to an attachment identifies the attachments file type. There are two methods of viewing an attachment: • Use a Phone Viewer to open native attachment on the phone. The attachment is still stored on the server and can be forwarded. If a native attachment is larger than 32 KB you cannot use a phone viewer. • Use BlackBerry Attachment Viewer to render a plain text copy of the original attachment. The attachment is significantly compressed. An overview of the attachment, called the table of contents is displayed on the phone. From here you can download and open a specific page of the attachment. Phone Viewers: • You need a viewer for the type of file you want to view. The phone is supplied with: – Pdf+ opens Adobe PDF format documents. – Quickword opens Microsoft Word 97, 2000, XP and Palm files that have been saved as Word format documents. – Quicksheet opens Microsoft Excel 97, 2000 and XP files that have been saved as Excel format documents. A Microsoft PowerPoint viewer (Quickpoint) is available on the P910 series Content and Application CD. Viewers are also available on the Web. To save an attachment, for example a picture: 1. Open the email message and select the tab. 2. Tap the attachment, the Incomplete message dialog opens. Tap Y E S to download the picture. 3. Tap the file, which opens the Pictures application and displays the image. 4. Select P IC T U R E S > SAVE. 5. Select the location where you want to store the picture. 6. Tap S A V E . Using BlackBerry 15 You can store items internally on your phone’s internal memory and externally on the Memory Stick. You can also copy them between the internal memory and the Memory Stick. This is a cost effective way of viewing your attachments because you are only charged for the data you download to view. Note Attachments that are not supported on your phone appear with a question mark next to them. 1. Open the Note Attachments are forwarded in 2 KB pieces from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. This can take some time depending on the file size and connection speed. Note When you reply to an email that has an attachment, the attachment is not included in the reply. Note When you forward an email the attachment is automatically included, even if it hasn't been downloaded to your phone. Note Attachments cannot be deleted from a received email. BlackBerry Attachment Viewer The BlackBerry Attachment Viewer can be used to open attachments with a .zip, .html, .doc, .ppt, .pdf, .wpd, .txt, or .xls file extension. See ‘BlackBerry Attachment Viewer Supported Formats’ on page 36 for exact details on the file formats supported. The BlackBerry Attachment Viewer is not limited on attachment size, it can show a full list of the attachment’s content so you can select the exact information you want to download and view. 16 Using BlackBerry tab. 2. Tap V I E W A T TA C H M E N T . The Attachments screen is displayed. 3. Open the attachment’s table of content and tap the section of the attachment you want to view or tap Full Content. Document view is displayed and your attachment is loaded in the window. Viewer Edit Attachments: 3 hello.zip words.doc Table of contents ● Heading 1 ● Heading 2 ● Heading 3 ● Heading 4 Full content Statistics.xls Note You can also use the Jog Dial to navigate the table of content and select sections to open. Once an attachment is open you can use the menu to perform standard functions such as; Copy, Select All, Zoom, Find, Find Next and go to the top or bottom of the viewer window. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server sends the first 2 KB of the selected part of the attachment. When you scroll to the bottom of a document that hasn’t been fully downloaded an automatic request for the next 2 KB of the attachment content is sent to the server. More is displayed at the bottom of the window while the content is downloaded. To force more content to be downloaded, tap VIEWER > MORE. Viewer Edit 1. Tap the section of the attachment you want to view. An error dialog is displayed, tap Y E S to open the Password dialog. 2. Type the password into the dialog and tap D O N E . words.doc However, effective deployment had to wait for the development of computers to allow networks to be created and miniaturisation to make the devices small enough to be really mobile. Mobile telephones had been around for almost 60 years before we got our first cellphones in the 1980s. To start with there were radiotelephones for ships, aircraft and military vehicles. Then came radiophones for cars and, finally, the personal mobiles that form such an important part of today's world. The basic theories for cellular mobile ---- More available 8.50 Kb ---- More 3. disappears and the document is unlocked and available for viewing. You can also add a password to a document or section of a document. You might want to do this if you are saving the email so you can view the attachment again or if you are forwarding the attachment on. 1. Tap the section you want to add a password to. Tap E D I T > PA S S W O R D , the Password dialog opens. 2. Type the new password into the dialog and tap D O N E . 3. appears and the document is locked. Hyperlinks are supported in BlackBerry Attachment Viewer, tap a hyperlink to jump to the corresponding section of a document. The section you jump to is automatically downloaded if it isn’t already. Tables located within the supported attachment formats are displayed, you can navigate tables in the same way as spreadsheets, see page 18 for more details on the functionality available. If an appears on the screen the document is password protected. To open a password protected attachment you must know the password. Using BlackBerry 17 Navigate a spreadsheet You can tap a cell to select it or use the Jog Dial. The spreadsheet menu gives you the following navigation options:. • To move to a specific cell, tap E D I T > G O T O C E L L . The Go To cell dialog opens. The Resize dialog opens, use the drop-down menu to select the column you want to resize and tap the size you require. • To search for an entry in a spreadsheet tap E D I T > F I N D . The Find dialog opens, type the word you want to search for in the Find field. Tap the search options you want to use and tap F IN D . Once your search finds one matching entry in the spreadsheet the E D I T > F I N D N E X T option is available for selection. 18 Using BlackBerry • When a cell is selected its content is displayed along the top of the screen. Updating your Microsoft Outlook® or Lotus Notes Calendar Meetings accepted or declined on your phone are automatically entered into your corporate calendar when you send the response. When your phone’s calendar is updated wirelessly, you cannot synchronize it locally using the sync station. Using Global Address Lookup from Contacts You can access the Global Address Lookup from the tab on your phone. The Global Address Lookup button is always displayed at the top of the list of contacts. Using Global Address Lookup in Contacts is very similar to using it in Messaging, however there are a few changes as to how the contact is handled due to the way the Contacts application works. 1. Locked messages are not automatically deleted when your mailbox reaches its limit You can view the maximum number of messages that can be locked in the BlackBerry application, see ‘Maximum locked messages’ on page 29 for more information. 1. The message is unlocked, it is automatically deleted when the mailbox has reached the specified Maximum number of messages, see ‘Maximum messages’ on page 28. The Lock/Unlock message menu item is available from within a message. Note The automatic deletion takes place in the background when the mailbox’s maximum size is reached. BlackBerry Connect can be in one of five states; Off, Not connected, GPRS available, APN connected, and Connected. The status is controlled by dynamic buttons. PROMPT Reconcile BlackBerry Service frequently synchronizes the data between the PC and the phone. The two devices may display different information until this takes place, for example, if you delete an appointment on your PC this change may not be transferred to 28 Using BlackBerry This option allows you to decide if the Reconcile Now menu option is displayed in your BlackBerry Connect account. If Reconcile is set to On the menu item appears, if Reconcile is set to Off it doesn’t. Priority The priority option allows you to decide if the phone or the server is the master device. This means that when you synchronize the phone (Handheld option) overwrites and removes the entries held on the server if it has priority, or if the server has priority it overwrites and removes entries on the phone. Select your preferred option from the drop-down list. Note The Priority setting is only valid for email. For calendar entries the server always wins. Add tentative meetings to calendar When selected the Add tentative meetings to calendar check box enables meetings that are classed as tentative in Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes to be displayed in the P910 calendar. The title of the tentative meeting starts with Tentative:. Maximum messages The Maximum messages field specifies the total number of messages you can store in each BlackBerry Connect mailbox. If you have both BlackBerry Solution and Instant Email with BlackBerry service mailboxes, the figure specified here is per mailbox. Maximum locked messages The Maximum locked messages field specifies the total number of locked messages you can save in your BlackBerry Connect mailbox. If you have both BlackBerry Solution and Instant Email with BlackBerry service mailboxes, the figure specified here is per mailbox. IMEI number Displays your phone’s IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. IMEI is a unique 15-digit code used to identify an individual GSM mobile telephone to a GSM network. Using BlackBerry 29 IT Policy This is a reference to the IT policy your Administrator has applied to BlackBerry Solution. The IT Policy specifies access rights and security measures for the phone. The Screen saver device lock located in Control Panel > Device tab > Display > Screen tab can be activated as part of the IT Policy. You cannot overwrite an IT Policy and if you deactivate the Screen saver device lock it is detected, the following message is displayed and the screen saver device lock is re-applied: Device lock BlackBerry [Messaging] - this service book allows you to send and receive BlackBerry Solution emails on your phone. If this service book is missing you must reinstall BlackBerry Solution. When this service book is added to your phone the local synchronization of messages using PC Suite is disabled. BlackBerry [Calendar] BlackBerry Edit Service Books The setting has been changed back due to BlackBerry IT policy. Tap C O N T I N U E to close the dialog. 32 Using BlackBerry Uninstalling BlackBerry Connect from your phone To uninstall: 1. Select on your phone. 2. From the Applications menu select U N IN S TA L L . The Uninstall dialog lists all the applications that can be removed from your phone. 3. Select BlackBerry, tap U N I N S TA L L . 4. Tap Y E S in the confirmation dialog to confirm deletion. The BlackBerry application, the BlackBerry Connect account and the Message accounts will all be removed from your phone. Troubleshooting Messages deleted on the phone are not deleted in my corporate mail program. • Change the Delete setting on application to A L L . in the phone’s BlackBerry I do not have the Reconcile Now option in BlackBerry message view on the phone. • Change the Reconcile setting on application to O N . in the phone’s BlackBerry Messages marked as read in my corporate mail program are marked as unread on the phone. • Turn Reconcile on in the BlackBerry application tab and select R E C O N C IL E N O W in BlackBerry message view to get any updates. Messages sent by a rule to a folder in my corporate mail program are not received on the device. • Check the supported folders setting in the BlackBerry Configuration for Sony Ericsson application for Windows. Make sure that the folder is supported. See ‘Remote’ on page 11 for more details. Using BlackBerry 33 A folder is selected for redirection according to the BlackBerry Configuration for Sony Ericsson application, but the messages go into the Inbox. • If the supported folder is a sub folder of another supported folder, then messages will be received in the top level folder on the phone. This restriction is in place to limit the number of folders that appear in the folder drop-down menu. A new message has been received as I can see it on the status bar of the device, but when I go to the Inbox, there's no new message. • From the BlackBerry Configuration for Sony Ericsson application, select the BlackBerry service and then go to the folder drop-down menu and check folders supported for redirection. The new message will be in one of these folders. Global Address Lookup is not available. • Global Address Lookup is only available with BlackBerry Solution accounts. Check that you are not in Flight Mode and that you have a Global Address Lookup service book entry in the BlackBerry application. See your Administrator if the Global Address Lookup service book is missing. The phone cannot register on the BlackBerry network. • Check that GPRS coverage is available. 34 Using BlackBerry The phone cannot get BlackBerry Service when roaming. Your phone automatically uses the operator that provides the best voice coverage, not GPRS coverage, when you are roaming. Before travelling ask your home operator which operators are able to offer you roaming GPRS in the country you are visiting. Change your phone’s GSM Network search mode from Automatic to Manual and select the operator your home operator has recommended to you. To do this: Tap > C O N T R O L PA N E L > C O N N E C T I O N S > G S M NETWORK. Change the Search mode to Manual, tap Select network and choose the recommended operator from the list. Tap D O N E . The downloaded attachment can not be opened in BlackBerry Attachment Viewer. • Check the attachment is one of the supported file types. See‘BlackBerry Attachment Viewer’ on page 16. I cannot synchronize Calendar with the Sony Ericsson PC Suite. • When the BlackBerry [Calendar] service book is installed local synchronization is disabled because BlackBerry Connect uses wireless synchronization. I cannot synchronize Tasks with the Sony Ericsson PC Suite. • When the BlackBerry [Calendar] service book is installed local synchronization is disabled, you must manually move tasks between the phone and your PC. Remote synchronization is disabled after BlackBerry Connect is installed. • Remote synchronization uses SyncML. BlackBerry Solution does not support SyncML so the process is disabled.
