A YEAR TO BE EXTRAORDINARY
Some years feel significant even before they start. For us, 2015 is such a year.
It marks 15 years since we began hosting epicurean and cultural events. It
salutes a shift we’ve seen in the way our guests want to vacation: more
learning, more trying new things, more experiencing. And it promises to be
our biggest year of events yet. It also promises to be our most impactful.
Over the last fifteen years, our events have raised $2.5 million for charitable
organizations. This year, we aim to amplify our impact by adding a giving
opportunity to every event, be it a silent auction or ticket sales. As our guest,
you are helping us make a lasting difference.
Personally, the year feels momentous for us, too. Each member of our team
set bucket list goals for the year, from taking a long-planned grandkids
getaway to training for a marathon. Why? Because there’s no better time or
place to pursue a passion. As long as we’ve been hosting events, we’ve been
helping guests like you do just that. Maybe you’ll fall for cycling the way I
once did during Tour de Smokies. Maybe you’ll bump into your favorite
chef at the bar and share a conversation over drinks. Maybe one of our
retreats will help you take your yoga practice even deeper. These are the
kind of experiences that happen at Blackberry Farm.
As always, those experiences will include a talented roster of visiting chefs,
vintners, athletes, artisans, musicians and teachers who bring their passion
to the farm. In celebration of such an exciting year, we’ve invited some big
names to Blackberry Farm—legendary names that include David Chang,
Rick Bayless and Nickel Creek. To preserve the rare intimacy and access
that make our events so remarkable, space is limited—and with a calendar
this special, reservations will disappear even faster than usual. Whether you
come for a cooking school, a cycling trip or a family getaway, we invite you
to add your name to the list of those heading to Blackberry in 2015. That’s
what this almanac is all about: welcoming you to share some of the best days
of the year with us.
For the first time or the fifteenth time, this is the year you experience
Blackberry. It’s going to be a good one. My family and I look forward to
seeing you on the farm soon!
Sincerely,
Sam Beall

We can’t think of a better way to kick off a big year
at Blackberry than by opening the doors of The
Barn for an intimate concert by GRAMMY
Award-winning bluegrass band Nickel Creek.
Mandolinist Chris Thile, Guitarist Sean Watkins
and Violinist Sara Watkins reunited after a long
hiatus to release a much-anticipated Nickel Creek
reunion album in 2014. The trio—which blends
folk, country and bluegrass into a voice all their
own—has earned a cult-like following of fans.
We’re proud to count ourselves among those fans,
and prouder still to invite you to share this rare
concert experience with us. All net proceeds will
support the Blackberry Farm Foundation, which
raises funds to benefit children, the community and
foodways-related causes. See blackberryfarm.com/

Music has a special heritage in Tennessee—from
small town stages to iconic recording studios.
We celebrate that heritage by bringing the
magic of Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Cafe to
Blackberry Farm for an intimate concert like never
before. For years, the Bluebird Cafe has played a
special role in discovering and sharing some of America’s
greatest musical talent. On any given night at the
Bluebird Cafe, chart-topping stars like LeAnn Rimes,
John Prine and Phil Vassar might share the stage
with up-and-coming talent: taking turns singing,
playing acoustic instruments and harmonizing. We’ll
experience Bluebird Cafe’s beloved ‘listening room’
atmosphere Blackberry-style with a concert featuring
several songwriters. If you love music—and the
stories behind the songs—this is an event not

Long before ‘farm to table’ was a culinary buzzword,
our FarmStead was a thriving center of activity here at
Blackberry Farm. You will go behind the curtain on a
hands-on tour with our artisans that takes you through
the garden, dairy, butchery, preservation kitchen and
creamery. Together, you will explore gardening,
preservation, seed saving and the importance of
community and preserving heritage. Later, you’ll roll
up your sleeves for a hands-on culinary experience,
where you’ll work with the artisans to create some of
our most popular FarmStead products. The event
includes group meals with wine pairings from the
Blackberry Farm wine cellar. Long a guest favorite, this
event offers exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to our
artisans and FarmStead.

I make every minute count
Like a stream, life is always moving.
And yet, the moments most worth
remembering are the ones when I slowed
down. The ones I gave to the people
around me. So this is the year I choose

“how can I share with someone each day

THIS IS THE YEAR YOU SEE THE TOP
Sunrise is not my thing, exactly, but I

up the trail in the dim light, just cresting
the top. All is still. The Smokies are a

the vast view is worth every step I took.

Over the last 15 years, Blackberry has raised over $2.5 million for
charitable organizations, including the Southern Foodways Alliance,
the Americana Music Association and Crossroads Community Camps,
among others. In 2015, we are proud to play an even more significant
role in making a difference for children, our community and
foodways-related causes by donating a portion of the proceeds from
every event to worthy organizations. We look forward to sharing the
joy of giving with you in the year to come.
