The Journey 1. Park on the square Church. The Church behind you, go to the right, on the street going through the village centre. 2. At the fork, go on straight ahead on the street of « parlement », "circuit des condamines". 3. Downhill the parliament street, you will land directly on a path (in the continuity of the street) which allows you to follow the Dordogne, always straight ahead. 4. At the prohibition sign, continue straight ahead till the path turn left naturally. 5. At the end of the path, at the crossroads, take to the left and go ahead till the next fork. 6. The tarred street deviate on the right, take the path going on the left and continue straight ahead till you join the street of the beginning. 7. Continue straight ahead. 8. Keep following this main path that curve to the left in order to continue straight ahead. 9. Turn to the left to join the parliament street and the starting point (at the path cross, turn to the right to join the square Church. At the return of the crusade, some ground taken back from Palestine were widespread at the highest point of the village. Was built there the Church from the XIth century . This History gave its name to the village of SainteTerre (Holy-Land), located on one of the paths of Saint-Jacques de Compostelle. It was a fishermen village (a fishery already existed in the XVth century in Lavagnac). Nowadays, some professional fishermen continue this activity by fishing migratory fishes (lampreys, shad, eels, elvers). SainteTerre is a little town at the edge of Dordogne river, capital of lamprey, this famous fish appreciated by gourmets. Offer you a walk next to the river Dordogne, you will love its charms, beauty of nature and calm. Some stunning mansions were built in the XIXth century all along the road of Lavagnac. In summer, you can enjoy beaches with full amenities on the edge of the Dordogne river. Sainte-Terre is also a wine-growing fief. Located on appellations « Bordeaux » and « Bordeaux Supérieurs » that fringed the south of Saint-Emilion appellation. Sainte Terre count some 350 hectares of vineyards exploited by more than 25 producers.
