WELCOME FROM THE PARENTS CLUB PRESIDENT
Greetings Riviera Families, Staff, and Friends,
We are excited to present this catalog for the Riviera Parents Club’s Annual Gala and
Auction. We hope the Gala brings the Riviera community together for three main
objectives. The first is to celebrate a school that enriches the lives of all of our children,
the second is to further build the sense of “family” that strongly defines our school, and
the third is to help fund various Parents Club activities throughout the year to ensure that
our tradition of excellence continues.
The Gala has been a success because members of the Riviera community have come
together to offer their time, talents, and financial support. These individuals, mostly
Riviera parents, carry out the many tasks associated with this large-scale event. Under the
leadership of Christy Quinones-Spurling, Melanie Padron, and Nicole Gadala-Maria, the
2013 Gala and Auction volunteers have been hard at work for months. Without the efforts
of these individuals, none of this would be possible. We are extremely grateful to them for
their dedication to our Parents Club.
Contained in this book are many generous donations that were offered by friends and
families of the school, as well as businesses within our local community. These individuals
believe in the school and know that the Riviera Parents Club not only enriches the lives of
its students and staff, but also enriches the Riviera community as a whole. We are so
appreciative of their support.
The continued success of the Gala and Auction is proof that all of us share a common
vision for our children and a larger appreciation for education. Participation in the Gala and
Auction at any level, whether it be as a volunteer, attendee, high bidder, or donor, shows
support for a school that is fulfilling its mission and purpose each and every year. We
invite you to participate fully in this year’s event to bring revenue to the Parents Club that
will help with current programs and help us create more events and activities. Every penny
that is raised at this event goes directly back to the students, staff, and families of Riviera
Schools to enhance our students’ educational journey. We thank you for your continued

A NOTE FROM THE GALA AND AUCTION CHAIRPERSONS
As we all know, education is not only about what happens in the classroom. Education is all
encompassing, and at Riviera, our children benefit from a holistic approach to education.
Moreover, we all know that in order to maintain the environment that Riviera has developed
since 1950, the school has to provide more than academics; it must provide for experiences for
the students and the families, both in and out of the classroom.
Riviera has a strong tradition of fostering close, familial relationships, and the Gala represents a
unique opportunity for us as parents and faculty to gather and celebrate one another, our
school, our children, and their accomplishments. This event represents the efforts of many
people, working together toward a common goal, and we are so thankful for everyone’s
participation.
Tonight we hope you enjoy the food, open bar, music, dancing, silent auction items, and what
is sure to be an amazing live auction. The Auction Committee was able to procure some
fantastic items for you, and our children worked hard to create class items for the live auction.
They did an incredible job, and we thank the room parents who helped the students make such
impressive pieces.

SILENT AUCTION RULES
1. The Silent Auction will be open for bidding at 7:30 p.m. Closing times will be
announced beginning at 10:00 p.m.
2. All items in the Silent Auction have bid sheets in front of each item. Bids must be
made by writing your Bidder Number next to the amount of your bid on the
applicable item's bid sheet.
3. Use ONLY the Bidder Number assigned to you.
4. Each increase in bid must equal or exceed the minimum raise stated on the item's
bid sheet in order to constitute a valid bid.
5. In the event of a dispute, the Auction Chairperson shall act as the final authority
and shall determine the winning bid. The decision of the Auction Chairperson shall be
final.
6. Payment by the successful bidder will be accepted only at the conclusion of the
Silent Auction. If the bidder has used the Express Checkout method offered at checkin, there will be no checkout required. Otherwise, payment may be made by cash,
check, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. Payment in full this evening is
mandatory.
7. All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds on items.
8. Items may be removed this evening only by exhibiting a PAID receipt and signing
the bid sheet for the item.
9. Values set forth for the items being auctioned are donors’ estimates and are not
warranted by Riviera Schools or Riviera Schools Parents Club for tax purposes or
general value.
10. Riviera Schools and Riviera Schools Parents Club make no express or implied
warranties or representations of any kind or nature with respect to the goods or

currently resides in Coconut Grove with his wife, Patricia. His career began
when he was the youngest student ever to be accepted in a Massachusetts
accredited art school at 15. When he was 27, Amoroso was nominated for
"Outstanding New Talent in the U.S.A." by Art in the America Magazine,
securing his importance as an artist. In 1964, his work was designated "Best
Overall" at the New York World's Fair, and he is one of the founding directors
of Artists Equity of America in Florida. His artwork is exploding with colors
expressing his free spirited nature while capturing any scene and giving it life
beyond what most people are capable of imagining.
