Castle Howard was built by a playwright, is it little wonder then that a walk through the Castle Howard landscape is full of dramatic surprises? Our walking route lets you step back in time to the early 18th century when the grounds were first fashioned, and on to later eras when these features were changed or restored. These tours offer exclusive access to buildings not normally open to the public. We are continually exploring this rich history and always discovering new things. So relax with a glass of wine and canapés as we reveal these tales, some of them for the first time.
